Total gross is now $332,548,000
See it's still making money .
I still say it's very possible. I also think it's defenitley going to happen, but thats just My opinion. Not enough to get it $350 million like you were discussing on the last page though, unfortunately. $340 million is even a stretch at this point, but we'll see.
No, $ 350 mil is out of reach.I still say it's very possible. I also think it's defenitley going to happen, but thats just My opinion.

In other news: SM 3's nearest domestic competitor, Shrek 3, is now at $ 307.9 mil according to the weekend estimates, which is $ 17.67 mil behind what SM 3 had made after the same number of days.
Wow, only a week ago it was $23 million or so behind Spidey. It's closing in but unfortunately its theater count is going to fall after this weekend and it will run out of theaters before it can catch Spidey.
Worldwide? So then, the last real competition this summer is going to be Transformers, correct?
That's decent for the enormous theater drop it had this weekend. Doesn't look like it will make it to 340M though.$1.3 mill for Spidey on the weekend. Total gross is now $332,548,000
Trust me, Transformers isn't even in the same league as the Spidey Films. I highly doubt it's going to be anywhere near the Spidey Films amount of money at the Box OfficeSo then, the last real competition this summer is going to be Transformers, correct?

Yeah, I guess the dollar theaters could help it get there. We only need $7.5 million to get there. The next month will add up.
Worldwide?
Harry Potter.
It has no competition domestically.

According to Deadline Hollywood, Pirates 3 has hit $ 872 mil worldwide. Looks like it'll definitely overtake SM 3 in worldwide gross.
Sure, but not everyone here was aware of that. Some held on to the hope that SM 3 would take the worldwide crown. That's like saying the sun sets in the afternoon. It should've been a forgone conclusion for most when it grossed $500 M a week ahead of when Spidey 3 reached it.

I don´t think the lighthearted thing is the problem... The Incredibles was lighthearted. There´s a lot of lighthearted stuff in STM or even the first two Spidey movies. Problem is just the quality of the movies.
Raimi already discussed that because of the alien symbiote, he felt the story needed to be brought back down to earth. He used dancing and crying to make the film feel more human and less sci-fi, which he was more than successful in doing. I think he did as well as he could--as it has been said a million times, I'm sure an extended/director's cut will be better.
So then, the last real competition this summer is going to be Transformers, correct?
I don't think Raimi was successful at all in that aspect. If he had used just the crying yes it would of been brought back to earth but the dancing took it away again.
As far as transformers goes it may be successful but it is not competition for any of the top three spots.. Not even close
Im trying to figure out how you dont think transformers is not competition for the top 3. Supposedly it's tracking is through the roof, pretty much every review thus far is positive, and it visually looks better than possibly any movie made to this point. Not to mention all the chicks I hang out with are dying to see it while the only movie of the big threequels they wanted to see was pirates. It seems like it's a movie that is gonna reach out to almost every demographic. I think its gettin to at least 300 mil easy based on that, even with harry potter coming out a week later.
To many of you people don't understand just how rare 300M is. The top three movies this year will all be lucky enough to hit it but it really isn't that common. Transformers may have a strong following but there are also plenty of people who will not go to see this movie and would rather masterbate with sand paper than see it (ME) so it's not like the entire world is gonna watch, Also Transformers is surronded by competitors including Harry Potter which comes out the very next week. .
