I'd like to see every major villain from Stan's first run, but it's going to take a lot of planning and money to do that.

There are plenty of characters out there that are interesting on their face as well as fodder for the brain. When you have to write paragraph after paragraph about how deep a character is in order to justify how "awesome" they are, that doesn't necessarily make them interesting.

I like Mysterio, but in terms of masters of psychology, Mysterio is a goofus...Chameleon is a lot more dark & evil.

Plus he has a connection to Kraven, thus making him logical for the sequel.

Yeah, that's true. But I just don't think he can work well as a villains on screen. Sure he has the ties to Kraven, but it doesn't change my mind. Mysterio is my choice.

As far as self-contained one villain movies I'd agree.

Chameleon would need hired muscle like The Rhino.

Granted I'd like to see BOTH characters in future installments of the Spider-Man movie series.

Peter Jackson...heh, that would be cool. He could trade franchises if Raimi decides to do The Hobbit.

As for a new Spidey, I'm completely against it. I don't think anyone but Maguire should play him. However, I will say this: my original choice for the part was Edward Furlong. After seeing Pecker, I was conviced that he was Peter Parker.

I know I'm new and you guys are probably sick of hearing this stuff again, but I really think that the Raimi/Maguire/Dunst has to go. Now I love the spiderman movies, but you gotta admit that things were getting really stale. I really think that we need some new blood for the series as it would keep things fresh. Even if you liked SM3 you gotta admit that the script was really lacking (the butler anyone?).
And also, no matter how much you like Maguire, he can't keep on doing this forever. We need to be open to some new ideas. I always thought that Maguire was kinda boring in his portrayal of Peter Parker. He just always has the same expression on his face and you just feel absolutely no energy in his portrayal. I know alot of people hate him (though I don't know why) but after watching Transfrormers last night, I think that Shia LaBeouf would be a great choice for Spiderman. For one thing, he can handle the humor side of the character that Maguire never really did. I think anyone who's seen his new movies, particularly Transformers would agree with me. Also, someone like James McAvoy would be interesting. He's a great actor and I know he's not an american but he can do a great accent. I just think we should start thinking of other people than Gyllenhaal and Joseph Gordon Levitt.
Let's face it, Spiderman movies are always gonna be around, I think it'd be great if you change the core team every trilogy to keep things fresh and interesting, kinda like what the Harry Potter team are doing.

The Potter crew retain the same writing team and cast. They don't change much.

But they retained the same feel with the same cast. You can't compare changing casts and crew to keeping the cast and changing some of the crew. Two very different things.

I still say Raimi and co for SM4 is Sony's best option.

I love LOTR, but after seeing King Kong, I can't help but think that all Jackson would bring to Spider-man is everything that was wrong with SM-3 x 10. If you thought SM-3 suffered from excess, I shudder to think how much Jackson would try to bite off.

It'd be very curious to see what David Fincher could do as director of SM4. I believe he was considered for the job before Raimi signed on.

No doubt about that, I was just pointing out that half of the directors people are suggesting for SM4 would turn the movie into a carnival.

Albeit, it seems Gwen and MJ were both supposed to be in SM2 and a set-up for the story we all know, but Arad convinced Sam that MJ has been in the comics for 20 years as his wife and Gwen has been dead for 30, so no one knows any better.

I hate Avi Arad more and more every day.

I am going to go out on a limb here but I think the kid that played Peter Pan in the live action movie should play the new spidey and we go back and have it be like stories set in between his origin and SM1, or they could just start fresh.

I think that all of the cast should change. Well, maybe keep JJJ and Robbie, but the rest should go.
They can get away with it, since the story that was told in the 1st trilogy is now complete, a fresh start would be wondrous for the franchise.
