Yea thats not gonna happen, there not gonna come back for one more movie and the quit. If Sony manages to get Raimi and co. back, there gonna want to keep them for the next 3 movies. Otherwise its a new team and cast starting with SM4.

I worry about Toby's ability to do this for too much longer. If it's another 3 years to 4, another 2 to 5, another 3 to 6, we're looking at a damn near 40 year old Toby.

Maybe they can shoot 5 & 6 together?

Wrong, Sony will without a doubt settle for one more film with Raimi/Tobey/Kirsten, without worrying about SM5/SM6. If they all agree to doing another film, Sony will start signing checks tomorrow. And start recasting with SM5/SM6.

Personally, I hope they get Sam, Tobey, & Kirstin back for one more. Have Peter & MJ get married, and then I'll feel the closure that I think this series needs. After that, if they recast, I'd prefer a reboot of some form other than a continuing story.

There could be someone else that can replace Tobey if he doesn't return. But Gyllenhaal is the only one I could think of right now.

I don't see why anyone has anything against him. No one has given me any sort of reason. They just say things like "I don't like him," or "I've never liked him." His name keeps getting thrown out because there's no one else we're aware of that would fit Peter at this stage of his life. I mean, really, name one person who has the look, the persona, and the acting ability to play a convincing adult Peter Parker and Spider-Man? Shia's too young. Gordon-Levitt looks too young. Milo can't act.

I'm open to any suggestions?

It's nothing against Gyllenhaal as an actor, but if they are going to recast, I want an all out reboot with someone who isn't practically a Tobey clone.

I can see that... I think that they should at least tie up the current story arc with the current cast... have Tobey and Kirsten get married. Beyond that, I think if they recast, they could make it so it fits reasonably within the same continuity, but is not part of the same story or character arc. More or less what they're doing with The Incredible Hulk... you have a new actor playing Spider-Man, and he's already Spider-Man, and in the context of the movie he's been doing his Spider-Man thing for a while, but it doesn't really explicitly address anything from the previous movies.

Also, if they recast mid-series, they should re-title it The Amazing Spider-Man. Following that, they shouldn't really have more than one or two movies left in this series, so they next movies could be something like The Spectacular Spider-Man and Spider-Man Unlimited.

Well Sony's talking to Sam either this week or next so expect an announcement probably by November.

If they recast I'll lose a lot of interest (only seeing Lizard will keep me interested, as he is my favorite villain) but for the record I finally saw Final Destination 3....awful movie.

MEW is a bad actress. Looks the part, but she was pretty awful in that movie.
