Sequels Official Spider-Man 4 Cast & Crew Discussion

Well Sony's talking to Sam either this week or next so expect an announcement probably by November.

If they recast I'll lose a lot of interest (only seeing Lizard will keep me interested, as he is my favorite villain) but for the record I finally saw Final Destination 3....awful movie.

MEW is a bad actress. Looks the part, but she was pretty awful in that movie.

Today is two weeks from the day we found out that Raimi & the producers were meeting to discuss Spidey's future.

Why would we have to wait til November? That's 4 months from now. If the meetings already happened, I'd say there'd be an announcement within the next month or so.

She didn't have much to work with in the way of a script. Her performances in Sky High, Grindhouse and Live Free or Die Hard are much better indicators.

So this has been a great thread...I DO think they should make some changes because judging from the interviews given by Kirsten and Sam during the release of the last film and especially with Kirsten's performance on the screen...... it seems that they are over this franchise. Sam should come back as a producer but Kirsten should be out. My suggestions are:

Spider Man - You have to keep Tobey, Jake would work, but at this point Tobey is the embodiment of this character and the face of the franchise


Mary Jane - I am going with Elisha Cuthbert - Watch her In House of Wax and she is the spitting image of Mary Jane/Kirsten Dunst but only hotter. And let's be easy on the "she can't act" campaign...Kirsten didn't have any Oscars before she got the part

DIrector - This is hard because there are no sure bets int his category but how about J.J. Abrams...what he did with MI 3 was brilliant and 1-18-08 looks incredible..I think he could breathe some new life into this

I don't like like Cuthbert as MJ either... she just won't look good in the red... it would be so unnatural on her... plus while she is still banging... I think she has lost some of that cuteness factor from a couple years ago... even Dunst still has the cute factor going for her so I'd rather keep her than bring in Cuthbert... I really have no idea who the answer is with MJ... she probably should have been killed off in SM3 but it still wouldn't have felt quite right. Just bring in MEW and be done with it... that is as solid a pick as you can make.

His hang up for this movie: He's engaged to Mary Jane Watson, and has given up web swinging for a steady job as the assistant of Doctor Curt Connors. Unfortunately when Connors becomes the Lizard, Peter must once again done the mask and do whatever he can to stop his mentor, all the while protecting him from the world's deadliest hunter...Kraven.

Mary Jane Watson
actress: Kirsten Dunst
Her Hang up: Her hubby to be has gone back on his oath to quit web swinging, and finds himself locked in the greatest conflict of his life. With the wedding two weeks away, Mary Jane begins to think it was a mistake to believe her fiance had left web swinging behind.

Curt Connors/ Lizard:
actor: Dylan Baker
His Hang up: While trying to regenerate an arm that he lost in the first Gulf War, Doctor Curt Connors turns himself into a 7' foot tall Lizard. Connors and this new persona battle for dominance of one physical form.

Kraven The Hunter
actor: Gerard Buttler

Plot Possibility 1 (The Greatest Hunter of all): While visiting his penthouse in New York, Kraven gets word of a giant bi-pedal Lizard rampaging through New York. He is convinced that this will be the greatest hunt of his life; during his first attempt to kill The Lizard, he comes into conflict with Spider-Man, creating a deadly three-way battle between the Hunter, the Hero, and the animal.

Plot possibility 2 (The Last Hunt): The greatest hunter in the world, Kraven has discovered that he's been stricken with cancer. His half-brother Dimitri approaches him with an offer for his last hunt; go out with a bang by taking out the greatest prey of all. Spider-Man. While on his hunt, Kraven discovers the Lizard, and decides to make a point of destroying both the bipedal reptile and the web slinging avenger.


Chameleon
Actor: Andy Sedik for Plot 1; someone a little more assertive and mastermindish for plot 2.

Plot possibility 1 (The Victim): Dimitri is the servant of his older brother Kraven; a bastard child, Dimitri's spent his whole life being abused by his family. Kraven only keeps him around to run small errands. Dimitri is tormented and obsessed with besting his brother.

Plot Possibility 2 (The Mastermind): Dimitri is an international spy, focused on infiltrating the United States organized crime in New York. to do that, he must first eliminate Spider-Man. Dimitri contacts his estranged Half-brother Kraven, and plays to the hunter's pride, convincing him to take out Spidey.


Felicia would make a cameo, played by Amy Smart.
Miles Warren would make a cameo too, as the man who takes over Connors teaching job at Empire State while Connors is "ill."

I really think it would be a mistake not to use the Stacys in SM4, otherwise their inclusion in SM3 would have been a complete waste. Here's how I envision it:

Captain Stacy dies saving a child from falling rubble (just like in the comics, but it occurs during a fight between Spidey and Lizard instead of Spidey and Doc Ock). His death pushes Gwen closer to Peter as she looks for comfort. In addition to the main Lizard/Kraven conflict, Peter also struggles with trying to comfort Gwen and being dedicated to MJ. In a nod to the first movie, Peter and Gwen's last scene in the movie would be similar to the final scene in SM1: in the cemetery near her father's grave, Gwen kisses Peter, he tells her that he will always be there as a friend, she asks "Just a friend?", and he responds "That's all I can give."

Yes, it's a Peter-MJ-Gwen love triangle, but in works with (again, what I envision as) the movie's theme of commitment: Peter is trying to balance his loyalty to MJ with his friendship towards Gwen; he is engaged to (or wants to propose to) the former while being comforting to the latter.

Gerald Butler would be the perfect Kraven. I think both Lizard and KRaven should be the villains in SM4. I would much rather like to see Mysterio over than Chameleon. If Tobey and Kirsten were to leave, I wouldn't mind. If they were to stay, I wouldn't mind.

And why all the hate for Chameleon? He's one of SMs most psychological and intriguing character studies.

Yeah... it seems everyone just wants to write out the Stacy's... that's a stupid move... Felicia can wait in my opinion... but I don't think SM3 was exactly a love trangle between Gwen Peter and MJ... it was more Harry Peter and MJ... the new triangle should be the ladder. Lots of room for development there.

I like Mysterio, but in terms of masters of psychology, Mysterio is a goofus...Chameleon is a lot more dark & evil.

Plus he has a connection to Kraven, thus making him logical for the sequel.
