What are your ten choices now? There has been some really good ones, and I think it just depends on what you prefer.

To me "Fighter of the Year" is easier because you just take whoever has the best wins at the elite levels while fight of the year is such a logjam of fights that would be deserving.

I think Cain Velasquez is Fighter of the Year IMO. Maybe Edgar.

Jon Jones would probably be my Fighter of the Year simply because he elevated himself from prospect to contender by demolishing Vera & Matushenko with venomous elbows.. Or as a rank outsider maybe Sotiropoulos, very entertaining grappling ability I feel.

Fight of the Year is very tough, so many good ones to choose from. I tend to like back & forth battles, either standing up or grappling.. or both. I'll have to think about it...

I agree, I'd go with Jon Jones too. Like you said, he elevated himself to a whole other level, for me his coming out party was his win over Vera. Elbow of Doom.

I'd rather not post the list before I start, but I will say that 2 of the fights Paroxysm mentioned are on the list.

I fully expect some disagreement as FOTY to me is more than just satisfaction from a workrate or entertainment point of view (though this is important ofc), hence the categories.

I absolutely hated the Diaz vs. Noons rematch. That was some of the sloppiest striking of the year, and both guys looked gassed in the last three rounds. It still baffles me that people go around acting like both of those guys are some kind of striking gods. These striking elitists are so inconsistent. Anderson Silva is not an "elite striker" because he hasn't fought an "elite striker" in his career, but ZOMG Nick Diaz boxing is so good that he'd be Anderson and GSP in the same night. Didn't you see all those punches he threw?
