I was outraged by the last page of the issue. In BKV's run, Wolvie couldn't penetrate Petey's armored hide (let alone even cut him) but now he guts him like a feckin' pig. BS! Even if his claws could all of a sudden cut Petey, Wolvie wouldn't be able to generate enough force/pressure to slice him open like that. At best, he'd be only able to scratch him on the surface. Bah!

And I also couldn't tell at first what Petey was holding but it looked like a steel-like heart. The lungs are much larger than a heart.

I just hope Jean can work a miracle and save him.

I also agree that the Ultimate version of Colossus is somewhat difficult to appreciate and/or like. I really liked Millar's bad a$$ version of Petey but after that it was all down hill. Just feckin' end the Ultimate U...it's a freakin' disaster.
I'm glad you brought that up. The debate on the issue of Claws vs Armor has been ongoing since the beginning. Granted this is the Ultimate version, but every other attempt Wolverine has made at slicing through Colossus in either (Universe) has caused nothing but sparks. And this one appears (from the picture) to show him having only steel skin, while the originals entire organics are composed of steel. If this Colossus dies (though I hope he doesn't) I don't know if I'll be as upset as when the Original did. Especially seeing as how the true Colossus (as I refer to him) sacrificed himself for the greater good, while this one seems to be a bitter, cynical, perhaps even self loathing A-hole who gets murdered by his own team-mate. Come to think of it very few of these X-men are likable in contrast to their original counterparts. They just don't exude that sense of heroism, at least to me anyway.

The beings known as The Watchers are stone poles in the Ultimate universe? And who's f***ed-up idea was this?

^^kind of reminds me of those gossip stones from legend of zelda: ocarina of time...

Welcome to the Ultimate Universe. The only character that has really remained intact is Spider-Man, but he was always conflicted.

Didn't Hulk "break" Wolverine's metal spine right in half?

But we'll never know how coz the book was scraped wasn't it, or more or less. It was limbo last I knew but that was months ago.

Amen dood. A lot of us have made that argument about Wolverine not being able to hit Colossus hard enough to damage him even if Wolvie's metal is stronger but the writers obviously think it makes sense :whatever:

I bet Jean saves him and somehow he gains the ability to be superstrong w/o the use of banshee. At least I hope so.

I think it was the last batch of Banshee. They said themselves it was below par, maybe it was spiked with something that is causing their powers to weaken. That could explain why Logan was able to cut Peter's metal skin.

I'd accept that. That'd also explain why Pete fell on his face shortly after Scott blasted him in the chest.

not sure I get whats going on in the last issue. Jean's X-men attack Colossus group, but why? They didnt try to talk to them or reason at all. Just seemed like some silly attempt to have the kids fight each other.

Wolverine is going off on Colossus ranting about all the pain and suffering he has caused. Um what pain and suffering.. I dont see how Colossus is so evil that he warrants being killed for.

And why is Firestar hanging out at the mansion. Her presence is a bit confusing and dont get why she's around

I know different writers are always going to have a bit of a different take on why characters act a certain way, but Ultimate characters actions seem to have less noble motivations than their original counterparts. There isn't much of a heroic ideal to aspire to here. I'm very curious to see the resolution of this story, but I'm not feeling optimistic. I dropped Ultimate X-men some time ago. I picked up on this story because the focus was on Colossus and the way he's portrayed has not improved, it's gotten a lot worse.

They attacked them cause the Banshee has obviously gone to their heads and they're a threat to anyone around them. Plus like Jean said if they don't do anything the Banshee will eventually kill them.

I think Wolverine's rage is aimed not at Colossus but at Banshee in general. It prob didnt help him that he was used as the basis for Banshee. And I also think the reason he didnt hold back on Colossus is because usually he can take it.

She came to the mansion for the same reason as every other mutant there, to control her power. Oh that and Magneto was after her cause her father is a brotherhood member and Magneto promised to come for her if she ever manifested an ability.

I dropped and picked up (again) UXM for the same reason(s).

All of you make valid points re the last issue. But Marvel's editorial team leaves something to be desired for. Marvel Comics should be called Retcon Comics. :cwink:

i hope ultimate x-men gets that rumoured relaunch....it needs it. the characters have so much potential.

how can they relaunch it? i mean it had a good start. it really had way more going for it than the orignal series ever did, starting off i mean.

what exactly do you mean by relaunch???

^Ultimatum promises the "End" of the Ultimate Universe. What myself and some others think is that some entity will "destroy" the whole universe and it'll restart again in a few months or maybe a year. Kinda like what Jean just did, but on larger scale.

thats kind of ******ed. well it wouldnt start back where it was because everyone would be dead. i think if they relaunch the ultimate series, it would just be a completely different universe altogether. like ultimate xmen 2, etc.

Everybody would just come back to life at some point in the past. Maybe right after they became X-Men or even before that. Who knows. I like the idea, cuz they've def screwed a lot of things up already.

Firestar is a mutant? I read that she was Liz Allen but when I read Ult-Spidey she had no powers. I assumed she gained them somehow from other means. Still I wish there had been an explanation for those who dont read that title. Her being in this arc was very confusing
