Firestar is a mutant? I read that she was Liz Allen but when I read Ult-Spidey she had no powers. I assumed she gained them somehow from other means. Still I wish there had been an explanation for those who dont read that title. Her being in this arc was very confusing
Yeah, Liz's mutant powers were revealed recently in the "Ultimate Spider-Man and his Amazing Friends" arc over in USM. It was Bendis' take on the old theme--Spidey, Firestar, and Iceman. Probably the biggest shock of the whole thing was the revelation that Liz's dad was actually
the Blob.

SINGER TO WRITE ULTIMATE X-MEN

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

While details on Marvel’s Reloaded X-Men event are still trickling out at the pace of molasses, Variety revealed that X-Men movie director Bryan Singer would take a swing at a year’s worth of Ultimate X-Men along with screenwriters Dan Harris and Mike Dougherty.

According to the trade, the three will write a year’s worth of the series, before writing X3. Before UXM however, Doughtery and Harris will adapt Orson Scott Card’s Ender’s Game for film, with Wolfgang Petersen attached to direct.

The timing of the trio's run is unclear, as David Mack was previously announced to be the writer following current UXM writer Brian Bendis' run. When we spoke with Mack last summer, in his view, his run on the series was open ended. Additionally, Brian K. Vaughn was recently announced as writing a short arc in the series as well.

According to the most recent update (prior to this news) which came from Brian Bendis at the end of December, Brian K. (Runaways) Vaughan will step in and write issues #46-#49, with Mack coming on full-time with issue #50.

Vaughan has confirmed for Newsarama that his arc will still run for the above issues.

Question: Is the Bryan Singer X-men [comics] project dead?

From the panel: Did you see Superman Returns?

Dan Buckley (DB): If they deliver a script, we will print it.

I think i recall Singer saying something about him being halfway through the scripts and that it would have incoperated some the unfinished X3 treatment he wrote. But that was over a year ago. So i won't be holding my breath for this.:o

Yeah, I gave up on that myself ages ago, myself. Singer is a great guy and all that, but I figure he's just too darn busy. :(

Eh I stopped looking forward to that after he ditched X3 for Superman Returns (a wuss).

Everybody would just come back to life at some point in the past. Maybe right after they became X-Men or even before that. Who knows. I like the idea, cuz they've def screwed a lot of things up already.
I agree. I just hope they "cut" the right people out.

Looks like the watchers ARE a bunch of pillars. Or at least they use pillars to do the watching remotely judging by the Secret Origins #3 preview

i think maybe collosus might be able to regenerate since the banshee come from wolverine. maybe.

I am really having trouble understanding how that works. I hate being behind in my comics.

:csad: I still haven't gotten #96. I get really pissed when I don't get an issue for this long.

ULTIMATE X-MEN #98
Written by ARON E. COLEITE
Pencils & Cover by MARK BROOKS
Ultimatum tie-in! The unthinkable has happened as the X-Men find themselves reeling from the devastating events of Ultimatum. As Xavier’s pupils prepare to retaliate, one X-Man is conspicuously left off the roster. As her time as part of Weapon X is counted against her, how can Rogue prove her loyalty? How far will she go? And just what is her mysterious connection to Vindicator of Alpha Flight?! His identity finally revealed!!!
32 PGS./Rated T+ ...$2.99

Gorgeous cover.

Hopefully we'll start getting some answers and things will start making sense.

Things don't currently make sense?
I liked the way Coleite started, but things took a turn for the worst around #96 (I think . . . may have to double-check). Maybe that wasn't the best way to put it, but there were some unanswered questions and bizarre leaps in logic that irked me. I'm looking forward to seeing some of the answers (like Vindicator's identity) and hoping for good writing since I'd love to see this title get back on track.

I don't remember having any problems, but I could probably reread them to brush up. I've been slow on reading comics lately, and I've been reading (or, at least, buying) so many more than I'm used to, some of them mix and merge and get fuzzy.

But, anyway, the arc isn't completed yet. It's not over. But yes, I think I remember an ellipsis between the most recent two issues, but then, an ellipsis is not bad. Morrison's been using them very often in his work lately, on a case of most-notable author I can think of. Ellipsis is often used to fast-forward. But that's the only "confusing" thing I can really think of.

To get back to the original last point, though, again, the arc isn't completed yet. One cannot judge the story until the story is completed. It's like reading three chapters of a Charles Dickens novel as they were originally serially published and complaining the story isn't over or all the details aren't revealed - or any other author's originally-seralized work.

Stuff can still pan out, whatever confusions there might be.

I suppose the Alpha Flight connection makes more sense in regards to Banshee as Logan is the source of the drug that they're on and Origins now has Logan being the first mutant (sigh) and 'created' in Canadian labs.

So after over 90 issues they remember Rogue is on the team?

Hope they don't throw in Gambit this time and make a triangle again.

Wow, love that cover!

BTW< have we had confirmation yet that this title will still be standing in it's current numbering... 98, 99, 100 etc AFTER Ultimatium...
