Issue #74

Ultimate X-Men #74 will arrive in stores on Sept. 13 from Marvel Comics. The issue is written by Robert Kirkman, with pencils and cover by Tom Raney.

Here's how Marvel describes the issue:

"'Magical,' part 3 of 3. The X-Men learn once and for all the mystery behind the Magician -- and they may not like what they find. The X-Mansion is the stage for the brawl to end them all, with an outcome you will never guess. Plus -- hints as to the final fate of Jean Grey, leading up to the monumental 75th issue!"

Ultimate X-Men #74 will be 32 pages and will cost $2.99.

GOD NO! His style is completely wrong for this type of book. I didn't pick up Nextwave for a good long while because his work on here left such a bad taste in my mouth. On a hokey, high comedy book like Nextwave, he's perfect. But a more serious darker book like this, it's a terrible match.

I hope the brotherhood is just a product of reality alterations in those previews. If not, Charles really needs to work on getting better locks for the mansion....in both universes really.

I think that it's obvious that they are. Which explains their appearence earlier and how they and the X-Men acted while fighting them.

I agree, he is NOT the artist to be doing this book. They need to bring back that artist (name slips my mind) that was paired off with Vaughn... Or was it Vaughn? Right around the time Dazzler and Kitty came in.

They need to bring in that guy for the regular X-Men book, instead of Bachalo.

I like Raney's art way better than Oliver's, but... I'd probably like the art of a dead monkey's over Oliver's. At least it wouldn't suck. And while I did like Immonen's... I dunno, I think I came into liking it over time, and I think that it just meshed well with BKV's writing. I don't think Immonen being on the book with Kirkman would work very well, but at least it'd work better than Oliver's.

Raney's not a bad fit on the title. His characters look more like Kubert's, and that's not bad in my book.

I will be very pissed if this Magician boy gets to defeat Jean with a couple of Brotherhood mutants. I just hope he gets his ass kicked big time

He's writing it now, and after he's done, they'll decide when it's best that it will fit in with the timeline, and release it then.

Maybe Singer will be the one to bring Gambit back, perhaps he feels guilty about promising him for X2 and for X3, although he didn't end up directing it.

with all due respent dude you should put major stuff about an issue into spoilers. just thought Id give ya a heads up before somebody gives you crap. And also to everyone who hasent read it yet I suggest you holed off reading it until the next issue comes out cause this annual kinda gives away what happens to the magician.

Man was this depressing though. I feel so bad for Kurt and Rogue's comment didn't help either. I wonder what she meant by it though. I can't wait to see how this affects his role on the team.

Ugh, I was hoping they would use time travel for Cable's story. It'll be interesting to see how they make him different from 616 Nate. Nice optic beam deflection too

And I'm super excited about the bonus story about Emma's team as they house some of my fav mutants.

.....and Ultimate Bishop? I'll reserve judgment till I see him. I tend to be really skeptical when it comes to time travel. How cool would it have been though, to have Cable AND Bishop show up together as like, a time-traveling tag team?
