I really want Electro and a battle in Square Garden how epic will that be?

Lizard & Kraven is still the way to go. Their plots could tie together so there isn't 97 subplots again.

This is just a random thought, and may sound very fanwankish, but I've been playing Infamous recently(first video game I've played in a long while). But as I kept playing, I realized just how well Electro would work for a new Spider-Man movie. When you play the game on evil mode, it's practically and Electro origin story. A average guy whose a bike messanger delivers unknowingly delivers a bomb which wipes out half a city and gives him electric powers. It has Spider-Man/Sam Raimi villain origin written all over it. I mean look at the cover art for the game. It actually looks like concept art for Electro.

Anyway, I just thought it was an interesting observation of how Electro could work in a new film. Thoughts?

Apart from working for Doc Ock once in the Sinister Six, who has Kraven been a henchman for?

Exactly. Kraven isnt the henchman type. He worked with the Six and resented it. He said something about not being a pack hunter.

I was wondering if Sergei's origin couldnt be tweaked to make him seem less hokey (and that coming from a Kraven fan). I admit, the "jungle roots and berries gave me super powers" explanation is a little hard to swallow, so why not make him a rough draft of a Soviet super soldier? He was given a formula at the end of the Cold War but the East-West tensions ended before he could be used. Resenting that he went through all of that for nothing, Sergei heads to Africa to test his skills on the wildlife and becomes renowned as a big game hunter. Years pass, and he has no more challenges until JJJ informs him of a giant Lizard terrorizing New York City.

Oh, and I was watching a show about urban myths and they were talking about alligators in the sewers. That made me think of Sam's clue that the next villain would be very New York City and we would know exactly who the villain would be as soon as we heard the casting. Gotta be Lizard. :liz:

Lizard and Kraven for sure for Spider-Man 4. I do like the idea of having a minor villain maybe in a pre-title sequence at the beginning of the film. I like Rhino for 4 and Shocker
for 5. Not part of the plot...no backstory...just action as a nod to Spidey fans. Throwing in some minor characters here and there helps round out the Spidey universe in my view. I like Mysterio and The Vulture for SM5 with possibly the Black Cat in there for good measure. I wish Doctor Doom could be in a Spider-Man film because I associate him prominently with Spidey.

Some more minor villains for future Spidey films:
Cardiac
Mindworm (remember him as a kid...ASM #138)
Molten Man (good CGI)
Boomerang (may be cheesy)
Beetle (ditto)
Tarantula (would be interesting on screen)
Scorpion (may be a better main villain)
Will O' The Wisp (no comment)
Tombstone, Hammerhead, Silvermane (may work)
Black Fox (realistic; could work though just not that cool of a villain)
Jackal
Chameleon (could be a cool sequence with Spidey vs. Spidey)

I don't understand what makes a villain able "to hold their own film." If any villain is written correctly they can hold their own film, although some changes to their origins or powers would have to be changed. We had 3 villains in the last movie, and that didn't help to keep the movie together...what does it is good writing, which if its something the writer was good at, would be able to make any character hold their own.

I thought the same exact thing while playing the game! Seeing this game in action and how diverse the powers of electricity made me want to see Electro in this film.

do we need two villains?

why not only lizard?

I would go with Lizard for four and if they throw in another villian i'd say Kraven. A cameo from Mysterio would be a good way to start it.

5 and 6
I'd like to see the sinister six formed as a subplot . It would be formed by villians in prison that were nabbed or foiled by spider-man . The six could be lead by vulture. Ben Kingsley ftw.
Vulture
Electro
Scorpion
Rhino
Chameleon
Carnage or a ressurected Dr. Octopus (which i doubt)

You need some humanity on the screen to make things interesting (this is why Raimi always has Spider-man's mask come off). Otherwise, it's 2 hours of Spider-man fighting a CGI Lizard. It wouldn't work.

I don't think Mysterio would work without him looking ridiculous. He's, essentially, a guy with a fishbowl over his head. There's no way they can convince me that it looks cool. I think Kraven, The Lizard, and Electro are the only villains left that would actually make good on-screen villains. Maybe Chameleon, but it depends on how they do it. Vulture, Rhino, Mysterio, and Scorpion are too ridiculous to pull off, and I don't think they can really make a whole film.

Here's the villains I think s:

Spidey 4
-Venom (more true to the comics, ending with some kind of redemption)
-Carnage (vicious, unstoppable monster that forces a Spidey/Venom team-up)
-Electro (trying to outshine Spidey, also tries to control Carnage as a partner0

Spidey 5
-Lizard (man turned into monster story ending with him being cured)
-Kraven (hired to stop Lizard when Spidey fails, eventually targets Spidey as well)
-Black Cat (not necessarily a villain but a constant annoyance / flirt to Spidey)

Spidey 6
-Chameleon (criminal mastermind manipulating events against Spidey)
-Vulture or Mysterio (primary villain who forms the Sinisters)
-Minor villains, like a prison break deal: Scorpion, Rhino, Beetle, Shocker, and others

You know... how sure are we that they are not planning to shoot the films(4&5) back-to-back? Have they said yet that they are just doing Spidey4?

Because, I maintain, if the plan to do back-to-back films, Lizard may not be the villain in 4, but a vehicle to 5.

It is referenced here.

MTV caught up with "Spider-Man" franchise director Sam Raimi, who talked a bit about Kirsten Dunst's return (he doesn't know if she'll be written into the script), possibly filming two movies at the same time, and a possible villain for the fourth film. Here's a clip:

Now things are about to get hard yet again for Raimi, as he's making plans to continue the cinematic tale of Peter Parker. "I'm really excited about Spider-Man, and I'm hoping to direct it," he cautioned. "I don't have a script yet, but production would start probably by March of 2010, I'm guessing. It sounds like a long time away, but we need a script first, and a lot of pre-production has to take place."

You can read the full interview here.

I, personally, don't think they will do two Spidey films back-to-back.

I doubt he would look exactly as he does in the comics. I'm sure they would find someway to make it not look ridiculous. Although Green Goblin looked like a power ranger that seemed to work.

Well, I was definitely not a fan of Green Goblin's look in the first Spidey film. I can't think of a way they could make Mysterio look decent without removing the bulbous fishbowl. If they do that, they might as well not use him.

What if he carried it. As if it were the resource of his power.

Nah. I'd rather see it as more of a helmet, closer to a motorcycle helmet or an astronaut helmet.

Well, does he normally do it a lot? I've never been too well-informed about Mysterio. I know enough about him, but not too much. I think he's too far-fetched a villain for the Spider-Man films, imo. He seems to fantastical for Raimi. Maybe if someone else was doing a film, they might bring him in. Who knows? I just never got the impression that he could work in the films. Just like having Mr. Freeze in the new Batman franchise. He wouldn't fit in. Now, the Spider-Man films aren't grounded in reality as much as Nolan's Batman films, but I still get a sense that having Mysterio wouldn't work with what has been established. I think there's a more likely chance of having Morbius, than Mysterio (and Rhino, Vulture, and Scorpion). I think what kills it is his outfit. It looks good on paper, but I don't think you can successfully translate it onto the screen. Same with how they approached Green Goblin. His outfit from the comics wouldn't translate well, and look what they did to him. They made him look like a misfit villain from Power Rangers.

Please don't tell me you guys think this is not cool.

BTW Mysterio's abilites and powers are done by special effects and sleight of hand, he is as doable as creating this film is for regular film makers. Now I'm not saying he is my personal choice for the movie, but I still keep in mind that he is a possibility.

Ultimate Mysterio would be great.

Mysterio would actually be an ideal Raimi villain and hell I would love to see him in a future film, but it seeing as most people see him as nothing more than a goofy foe it seems unlikely.

That said, with Raimi in completely creative control you never know...
