if kraven IS in the movie then there HAS to be superhuman villian as well, even 'kraven's last hunt' had vermin (man/rat).

Yeah, I was thinking that Kraven made sense given that Raimi was going for a 'back to basics' approach after the super villan melee of SM3.
If you have one human type villan you can then concentrate most of the budget and sfx work on the Lizard.

The person on aicn said Kraven was one of the villans, if he was pulling a fast one I would have thought he would have bs'd the other villan too.
But maybe he only came by news on the one villan as there was talk round the campfire of who'd been offered a role in SM4, The Lizard role already being cast.
His info on Avengers also seemed plausible, as in, the bare facts he had seemed like a sketch of where they are going with it, and not some elaborate thing someone would make up to get attention.

Yeah, could all be bs, but it's another name to talk about anyway.

btw he said the villans in Avengers would be
The Skrulls

Why did he have nothing involving his daughter at the end. That just seemed weird to me.
Also what's weird is Sandman not being in Spider-man 4 because alot of people will wonder what happened to him.

In the original ending, there was a scene involving Sandman and his family at the construction site. It was his daughter that will ultimately persuade Sandman to stop and give himself up to the police.

At first I could not corellate Clive Owen with Kraven at all. But then I was thinking about his role in shoot 'em Up, he's very cool and dangerous in that.
They may concentrate on those kind of aspects and deviate a little from the comics guy.
Because a guy with a Tom Selleck moustache and goatee beard wearing hairy shoulder pads could easily come across as a very camp tough guy.

Raimi will be wanting to have the movie taken seriously after reactions to SM3's humour.
He's also talked about TDK and how it's raised the bar, so he may tone down some of the comicbooky tone of Kraven and make him a little more of a sober take.
Because, lets be honest here, until 'Kraven's Last Hunt', he is basically a bit of a joke villan in the books, a bit of a macho chest beating cliche, I mean he had to have a moustache back in those days to signify that, before that tough guy appendage became an ongoing gag in popular culture.
I'm thinking more about a respected deadly killer coming into town here, rather than an outlandishly attired blowhard.
Since reading that rumour I can see Clive Owen doing that more serious kind of take. That's exactly what SM4 needs, a villan you can take completely serious.
He can still use jungle herbs, techniques and martial arts. But I would shave both the moustache and the hairy shoulders.

True.

And may I remember that we got a plot summary and a Q&A more than a year in advance of S-M3 here on these boards? :o
Very true. I guess we'll just have to wait and see, and I'm quite excited about this, even though something tells me it isn't true.

Well Nikki Finke from Deadline Hollywood Daily, who is very credible, said back in March that Sony wanted or thought of Mickey Rourke to play a villain in Spider-Man 4. That was when he signed on to play Whiplash in Iron Man 2. Also, didn't Sam Raimi say that they just started thinking about casting about a week and a half ago or so?

Poor Lakami. He came here to give us info on the movie and the ninja's working at Sony killed him.

R.I.P. Lakami

Where on there does he say this? I can't find it. Thanks

The thing is though, even if they DO use Kraven, are they gonna adapt the Kraven's Last Hunt storyline or would it be a typical supervillain plot? I mean Kraven's Last Hunt was pretty much the only memorable Kraven storyline but i'm thinkking it may be a bit too dark for a Spider-man movie that kids will be watching. But i, personally would love to see that adapted. I mean after already using Green Goblin, Doc Ock and Venom, they need to find a way to make Kraven a much more formidable villain than any of the aforementioned ones.

Found it, makes sense, sounds plausible. We'll see. He posted quite a few times ha ha.

Finally got more info!

05:07:41 PMHere we go. So the subplot that will be hinting through IM2, Thor, Capt. America leading into the Avengers movie is that Top Secret Info has been stolen all over the world about the planet's defense, and will be revealed to be the start of a Skrull invasion ! So, The Avengers going against the Skrull to show why they are Earth's Mightest Heroes. In IM2 it will be revealed that the Ten Rings is a front to spread out the top countries armys so they are in a neverending war, im guessing by doing that they will be spreading armys all around to different wars going on so it will be easier for the Skrull to invade. That's all I have for the Avengers info. Now, Spider-Man 4 will have Kraven in it, and the person that will be playing that role is CLIVE OWEN!! Until next time!

I say this guy is BS. That sounds like a terribly cheezy, unimaginative plot for Avengers IMO. If Clive Owen isn't announced before the year we know it's BS.

Exactly, but I think the Skrulls could be awesome if done right. It won't be just one villain like Loki by himself. He's the villain in Thor. Thor doesn't need help from Captain America and Iron Man to take down Loki.

I just can't accept Skrulls for movie one. It just completely throws away the credibility Favreau established, which is why he is probably worried **** about the movie. Depends on what they do with Thor, but I don't see Branagh getting all alien on us either. I am bias so that's why I think the rumor is BS, but that's how I feel about it.

Iron Man is the most realistic, sure, but in the comics it worked so let's give the filmmakers the benefit of the doubt. Favreau just has no imagination. He's awesome and great but he's like Christopher Nolan and for some reason think they established strict rules saying Batman and Iron Man can't interact with more fantastical characters and that's just dumb. They're superheroes, there are no rules, that strict anyway. It's always been that way, some superheroes and villains have powers, some don't, some are more fantastical than others, but they all have interacted and can interact with the other. I just don't get why they can't. It's still a movie, it's still fantasy/sci-fic, who cares. It's freakin awesome! :)

So yeah, Iron Man does not/did not set the rules. This is not a game here ha ha. :word: Is Joe Johnston freaking out because there's no way a super soldier can interact with a god/immortal in a superhero fantasy movie?

Some superheroes are unique and different, that's what makes it exciting. Is Joe Johnson, the director of Captain America, getting upset because his supersoldier will interact with a god/immortal? I doubt it. :word: Favreau isn't running the show, Marvel is. It's their baby.

Clive Owen is not the right choice for Kraven.

Well who would have thought of Thomas Hayden Church as Sandman when he was first announced? It wasn't until we saw him with the haircut, striped shirt, and brown pants.

Yeah, I was thinking about this last night. The Kraven in KLH is far too intellectual and poetic to be done onscreen in these kind of SM movies.
JMDemattis still kept the ranting, raving chestbeating aspect of Kraven but turned in a deeper type of rant.

They can't have the cheeseball, 'That punch would have stopped a bull-elephant!', Kraven, and they can't do the dark poetic crazy Kraven. but somewhere inbetween I think is where they should go.
I was a little hard on the outfit earlier, but if they have him change into some outfit that is composed of the skins of animals he has hunted, that would be cool and sticking with the original kind of intention.
Yeah, the hairy shoulders could work, but also something like Puma's outfits would be good too.

Re: Skrulls in Avengers. It seems so plausible to me that they would be the villans as it takes care of a few things.
They don't need to spend time in the movie hooking up supervillans and can spend that time on the heroes.
It's a worldwide threat that gives the story a reason for all these superpowered folk to join up against a threat the army cannot handle alone.
Alien Invasion is the story that both the Justice League cartoon and Ultimate Avengers movie used as opening stories for these same kind of reasons.
They just did the big Skrull event in the books last year so it's a fresh idea they think the fans will go for.
