Wanda's animated versions primarily being in the Brotherhood is just because the only shows she's been on that have gone for any length of time are X-Men cartoons, and Wanda really only has a role in the X-mythos when she's in the Brotherhood.

Another strong episode; I don't think I like this quite as much as the previous Nightcrawler one, but it's still excellent. Wanda's powers on this show are super-vague, but that's not really any different from the comics (Lee and Kirby really should have just made her an actual magician or something from the start).

One aspect of the whole Genosha situation that didn't work is that the previous episode nor this one offer any insight as to what purpose the secret prisons serve; what are people being imprisoned for? Defying Magneto in some way, presumably, but's it's vaguer than I'd like.

Animation can make age hard to tell, but I'm guessing Polaris is supposed to be early teens or thereabouts, hence not involved in Dad's plans yet. I was just imagining some new viewer wondering how Magneto has all these kids and no moms in sight.

But, seriously, you are correct. A few of her past series have been mentioned, but she was never written this well. Not even in EVOLUTION.

I agree, after some 40+ years Scarlet Witch's powers are still vague. I didn't expect this show to clear anything up, so it wasn't a major quibble against the writers.

Magneto appears to imprison any mutant on Genosha who either disagrees with his main aggressive objectives, wants to warn outsiders about it, crosses Magneto in some way, or lets slip some information to someone that Magneto wants to keep quiet.

Polaris looked a little younger than Kitty Pryde, I would say.

I can live with no mothers so long as I don't have to look at Bova the Cow-Woman midwife again. Yeesh, that bit always boggles me.

I was under the impression that the Brotherhood was Quicksilver's ragtag team of miscreants. Quicksilver may be taking his orders from Magneto, but that doesn't mean that the entire House of M is part of the brotherhood....

Maybe i'm just questioning semantics though...

I think they made her out to be at most a year two younger. I think it was because she was wearing PJs in that ep that some on this thread have thought she might be in early teen.

The two pics below are from ep 22... suffice it to say she doesn't look like an early teenager.

By "Brotherhood", we mean "works for/with Magneto"; Magneto's Genoshan followers are more typically called the Acolytes, I believe.

Also, I love how Magneto takes his helmet off by splitting it in two using his powers and having it hover behind his head; he couldn't just use his arms.

I would agree with that, its an interesting contrast to the vast majority of other Marvel universes, even ones where you have a much less overty villainous Magneto then in WATXM (and even in three universes where he takes up Xavier's philosophy) he is still willing to use her in his battles. In WATXM he doesn't want her corrupted or killed in his battles. Since it is AU the writers of WATXM can do whatever they want with their relationship. That said what they have done is fairly unique. Of the dozen or so different versions of their relationship over the years I can say for certain this is the first time I have seen it portrayed quite like this. It reminds me alot of his 616 relationship with his first child Anya who burned alive.

Much as I loved Evo Kurt & Wanda (he was adorable, she was a hot nutjob) I never saw them as hookup-worthy. And the only really personal scene they had together was when he went to steal back the petrified Mystique and she was about to blast him until she learned of their relationship. It was sweet and all, damn. This relationship is erotic fanart-worthy. Lemme know if y'all find any lol

I would agree. While Scarlet Witch isn't on Quicksilver's attack squad, usually I link anyone who works with Magneto as "Brotherhood". Most viewers and Magneto himself may agree. He isn't one for disloyalty.

The squad that Quicksilver leads are basically Magneto's infantry in the front lines. Pietro is likely aware of how expendable they may seem in that position (even if the X-Men never make any attempt to arrest them or hand them all to the MRD when they defeat them, which is often), which is part of why he wants to return to Genosha. That, and so he feels as "accepted" by Magneto as Wanda and Lorna are.

Animation sometimes makes age hard to determine because of the exaggerations that are a part of it. Catching someone who is in late teens or early twenty's can be a chore. Lorna looked "young" in this episode, although to be fair, anyone in full body PJ's tends to look younger. But, yes, from those future screen-caps, Lorna clearly is around the same age as Wanda, maybe a little younger.

Indeed, that is pretty cool. Especially since Kurt is in all that promotional artwork with the team.

Kurt's story in this season has been very well done. It's done an excellent job of underscoring with the acceptance with himself. Even as a mutant, Kurt still can't pass off as "regular person". And when the cargo ship was attacked he bonded with other mutants who have the same problem, they are like the outcasts of the outcasts. And then he finds a utopia where he can simply be himself and not be persecuted for it or so he thought.

That's the problem with Magneto's utopia. The persecution against mutants still exists. You can only live on Magneto's terms, and that's no way to live mutant or not.

Indeed. I have had many complaints with the show, but Nightcrawler's not been one of them. He has a great design, some good fight sequences, and all of his episodes were good and covered the dilemma of the character in various situations. It's been the best animated Kurt, bar none.
