Animation Official Wolverine And The X-men, "Hindsight 1-3" Discussion Thread

I saw the third episode at San Diego Comic Con. No downloading :D .

I posted my thoughts on the entire pilot in the Con thread. You can read them there.

They showed parts 1-3 of Hindsight as a pilot preview.

Since 1-3 are meant to be watched together, that is why I feel Nicktoons should air it as one big event before January.

I agree. Which means NickToons won't. Call me a cynic, but often the things in life that make the most logical sense are the things least likely to happen. :o

Ok i just saw the 2nd episode and it is freakin awesome!

Just when i thought Rogue would have the old "i joined the bad guys but i'm actually a goodguy"change of heart, she did'n't. That was great

This cartoon is more serious than X-men Evo. And most of them aren't teenagers anymore

Even though I saw a glimpse of this part in trailer, it surprised me too after watching the whole episode :yay:

I agree as well. I like the direction they are going in with said character.

Im loving what Ive seen so far, its sort of like a mix between the movies and x-men evolution. Im pissed that its not out over here yet even though the BBC were supposed to start airing it last month. Whats the current tv schedule for you guys over the pond?

I just saw the first 2 ep, and I'm loving it... I just wish Collosus and Nightcrawler had more screentime... But I'm loving the showcase of good ol muties, like Avalanche...

This is a must see

Are there any links for any of the episodes?

I just finished the first two episodes and its great for the most part. Im just not used to the animation and charecter styles yet. But I am trying to consider if I want to watch the rest of the released episodes even though I wont understand them..

It’s better not too. All the suspense will be over. Plus it’s nice to look forward to something on Saturdays :yay:

And for those wanting links for episodes, why not just get it from one of the million torrent sites out there? You’ll get great sound and quality.

Episode Three:
- Bankrolled by (an unaware) Warren Worthington Sr., reconstruction on the X-Mansion begins; Logan's four-man group is joined by Forge, helping out with the tech. They are then approached by everyone's favourite telepathic *****-goddess, Emma Frost, the White Queen.
- Emma announces she'll be joining the X-Men; Wolverine (who is seemingly the only one who knows who she is) says no way. Emma says she can find Prof. and Jean if they let her use Cerebro; Logan thinks this is a trick to get access for herself. Eventually, Logan and Hank relent, and let her in. She finds Professor X in Genosha.
- This information is enough to get Cyclops to come out of emo-retirement, though he keeps asking Emma whether she could find Jean too; Emma says yes, so long as he uses his influence to stop Wolverine from kicking her out. The X-Men stealth-fly to Genosha to raid Magneto's fortress, which doesn't go so well. Big M schools them all fairly easily...and then makes them apologize for breaking into his house, releases them, and gives them Xavier, saying Logan should just have asked.:woot:
- Professor X apparently just appeared on Genosha's shores some months earlier; Magneto looked after him, but he has no brain activity. When they get him home and put him in a Zordon-esque setup, Xavier's big floating head appears from the Evil Future (think "Days of Future Past"). Apparently, he stays in a coma for 20 years, and woke up to find that everyone was dead. He tells the X-Men that they have to stick together, and that Logan must lead them; Cyclops storms out at this, but Prof. X begs his "son" not to give up on the team.

We're finally past the point where the trailer heavily spoiled the plot, which I imagine will heavily boost my enjoyment of future episodes of the show.

As we stand, things are very solid; the characters are all down pretty well, though this version of Cyclops, while totally in line with his portrayal in certain periods in X-history, is not the version usually put forward (admittedly, that's a consequence of the very premise; it's totally believable that he'd be like his if his surrogate dad and girlfriend mysteriously vanished). This episode introduces two new characters; Forge seems like a cameo (he's not even in the credits), or else supporting character, in the role he's best suited for, although this sort of comic bumbling characterization is a bit different from his normal super-competent version (though given how the character's huge abilities make him really hard to use, this may be a good addition). Then, of course, there's Emma; she's about as Emma as works for a cartoon for youngish people, with a good voice. I'm not sure if we're meant to take her modified backstory at face value or not, but neither Logan nor Scott (seemingly the only two guys who know who she is, which is a bit strange) seem to see her as a supervillain.

The sequence with Magneto was very well done as well; the voice and the face are very McKellen-like, albeit with the comics costume (complete with the purple cape that is always rising off his shoulders for some reason). He's got the right feel to him; dangerous but at the same time he seems reasonable, even wise.

Cyclops as I recall did not know who Emma Frost is. I think he asked Logan who she is.

I got the impression he did, just because of her disdainful reaction to him and his wondering why she was being brought in. Could be wrong (in which case, it's even weirder that only Logan has heard of her).

Which might have something to do w/ the movie. Who knows.

Yeah, Scott didnt know who she was. After Emma walks in the room, he says: "and she is?"

Taken at face value, yes, but he essentially could've been asking "and she is...here why?" or something along those lines.

I enjoyed this episode, but not as much as episode 2. I just really wanted some Genosha cameos.

Even with the absence of my favorite character, I really enjoyed this episode, better than the previous.

The guys initial reaction to Emma were priceless :woot: I’m sure Scott must’ve known Emma since she mentioned her own academy. It would be strange that he, being the leader, didn’t know of its existence while Wolverine does :whatever: Plus Scott was really shocked when he saw her enter the hangar. Kind of hard to tell if he was surprised by the uniform or Emma herself. Maybe both, lol.

Magneto action scenes were awesome :wow: Too bad there were no Genosha cameos. Kind of wish the episodes were an hour long :yay: Waiting once a week is too painful since the episodes are getting better every week.

im enjoying the series and everything, i just cant get used to Wolverine being the leader. hes my favorite x-man and all, but we all grew up on Cyclops being the annoying yet effective leader. im just hoping that Charles X only chose Wolverine to lead because Cyclops is all messed up in the head for charles and jean's situation. it would be good to see him lead again somewhere down the lines when he gets his act together, and wolverine can go back to being wolverine.

so is the english version of ep3 anywhere on line yet? If it is, anyone care to pm it me?

Well, for now this show looks to be very good. Everything is well-explained, yet without too many infodumps, which is always nice. The characters, for now, are well explored and act accordingly to the situations that surround them.
for example - the fact that Rogue turned out to join the Brotherhood and dumped the X-Men... I really hope that she eventually wouldn't come back to them like a frightened little girl, it would be boring and predictable; no, she looks good when she is bad

The only gripe I have for now is that the animation, while good, doesn't look as fluid as it is possible today. The other thing about it - the animation, I mean - is that it definitely looks similar to the style of "X-Men: Evolution", which is not bad thing at all by itself (I mean, when Sabretooth shows up, for example, I'd like it if he looks like he did in "Evolution", because that look was bad ass as hell), but maybe it would have been better if the look of the show was a little (just a little) bit more... unique.

But, all in all, for now "Wolverine and the X-Men" looks very promising and I sure as hell will wait impatiently for the next episode :Р
