Sequels Oh... the Possibilities

villain's thing wasn't bad. its probably better than what we'll actually get from singer. the real movie is most likely gonna be about supes and the kid, and richard coming to terms with the fact that he's not the kid's biological father. then luthor comes back with a giant spider named "zod" and kidnaps lois.

i'd rather have a restart sequel that would do away with everything that happened and have the end an alien invasion via darksied or brainiac that superman can't handle by himself and that could carry over to the jla film.

there was also a lot of truth in what he posted there too. some of those could have easily been in the script and/or shot, but edited out for whatever reasons. not saying villain is legit...just playing devils advocate...

Yeah, but there were a lot of difference. The Captain Stacy stuff in particular that were really off. Oh well. Well see if he's right.

Not saying that Villain isn't full of sh--, but it seems like he may have seen/heard an earlier draft of the script. Some of the stuff he got wrong was only slightly off. And in the official movie novelization, Sandman's daughter was at the battle royale at the end of the movie.

Exactly, I thought it came out that Alvin had at one time concidered writing Aunt May out but Sam thought better, and they did shoot scenes with Sandman's daughter at the construction site where she was hurt or something, but they edited it out. He was right about Sam looking to cast someone one for Vulture and everyone flamed him for it, now we know it was true. And I remember he was the first to say there was a rift between Sam and Avi.

I hate this guy never answer questions, but Villain has gotten some things wrong like the fat guy at AICN, the guy on IESB, the guy on ifilms, DarkHorizons, and rottentomato, etc, but he has gotten some things right too.

I'm not sure what to think, but he did say the JLA link thing, and now LatinoReview, CHUD, and others are sorta saying the same thing.

LOL.
I'm very hopeful a sequel to SR won't be made at all. With batman, James Bond and Hulk all getting rebooted or reskinned so soon after they're previous film theres hope.
:)

i really want to see a superman movie that utilizes villains other than lex and doesn't tread over something we've seen before. why can't there be a superman post crisis origin, where he arrives on earth, becomes supes, and fights brainiac with luthor pulling the strings. i've always seen luthor as the man behind the scenes. someone that is so evil and menacing, but can never be touched.

ha... that what some of us thought... but we never know. they love to surprise us

The way Lex has been portrayed in every Superman flick, I'm not so sure we will ever see the type of Lex Luthor you are speaking of. Seem like he will always be just comic relief while supposenly diabotical. :(

maybe in twenty years or so when they remake this superman franchise...one can dream

:super: With the San Diego Comic Con just around the corner and the World Premiere of “Superman/Doomsday”, fans of the Man of Steel would think, after a year remove from “Superman Returns”, seductive yet titillating news about the sequel, director, villains, and synopsis, would permeate the Comic Con; as well as entertainment magazines and oh yeah… the world wide web and it’s conglomerate of websites totally devoted to such things. Amazing, very little on the sequel to “Superman Returns” has been revealed. Maybe because of Warner Brothers inability to decide with vigor, what direction the company desires to take; in regard to, the director and his vision for the franchise title character, the villains that will oppose him, decreasing budget concerns, and the type of hero and story the fans is desirous to see.

Without a shadow of doubt, Warner Brothers wishes to retain Bryan Singer as director of the sequel, despite their displeasure, along with a copious amount of fan-base uproar, regarding the direction the franchise has taken, Singer’s numerous other commitments(appearing lack of concern, commitment, and attachment), and DC’s discontent with the usage of characters of the Superman lore; but, Warner on the other hand is not oblivious to the idea of life without Singer. Warner Brothers ensures that the franchise will work much more closer with DC’s writers and source material, in developing a better semblance and chronicle of the leading characters. Hum… where have I heard that before? Oh well, we shall see.

In May of this year, an unsubstantiated report surface about a potential undisclosed draft being penned by a mystery writer(possibly from DC Comics) and allegedly purchased by Warner Brothers. Supposedly, Dan Harris(Superman Returns) is currently working on a screenplay to the sequel, based off some ideas from this undisclosed draft; however recently, rumor has this draft written for the WB‘s “Smallville“. Sources expressed their belief assuredly, that the draft is indeed for the sequel; but would not conclude by whom exactly. Harris, once attributed in saying, “We have to have a real villain(s), that pose a real threat, not just to Superman, but to humanity. We have to have a villain(s) just as strong and powerful; yet, intelligent enough to devise a situation or circumstance, that even the greatest of heroes, may not be able to withstand”.

Very little, until now, have surface about the draft, other than it ostensibly having some intriguing plot scenarios, a degree of mystery and emotion, and a huge twist involving one of the primary characters(believably Jason White). Kevin Spacey is expected to reprise his role as the villainous Lex Luthor and be join by an unannounced villain. However, with all eyes focus on Batman’s return to the big screen next year, Wonder Woman still locked in pre-production jitters, and the numerous buzz about JLA and Teen Titans gracing the silver screen in the near future; Superman appears to be on the back burner of upcoming Warner and DC film projects. That may perhaps be about to change… hopefully with a possibly huge announcement at the Comic Con, but more realistically, later this year.

Apparently, an interesting idea seems to be gaining some consideration and being tossed around the meeting room at Warner Brothers. The sequel to “Superman Returns” itself is a prequel to a JLA film, preliminary being slated for late 2010. YES… THAT’S CORRECT! It is unclear if Brandon Routh will be attached to the JLA project; but rest assure, there are talks of linking JLA to the Superman franchise. The undisclosed draft appears to leave a major cliffhanger, with a major supervillain, that will spill over and conclude in the propose JLA film. What Dark Seed is being planted here? Warner will essentially use JLA to then produce and introduce solo projects or spin-offs of other characters of the JLA. There are discussions at Warner, considering pushing back production of Wonder Woman(2009) after the launch of JLA; however, despite production hang ups, Wonder Woman is still, at the moment, on track for a 2009 release. If things progressively pan out, a move such as this, could catapult Superman, with a little help from a few others, to the forefront of the comic book movie genre. At least a little more closer to Spiderman.

We will be watching!

What is your prediction on the WB possibly making a Green Lantern or Green Lantern Corps film? Also, does VillianWatch have a website?

The answer is if he has a prediction it is nothing more than a prediction or speculation, and fake reports don't deserve a website.

WHAT?! Villain actually responded! This has got to be a first!

So is it confirmed that Singer is doing the sequel?

God NO! :down

You know, I was just thinking the same thing when I read post. News is leaking out. All four are saying the same thing in different ways or from a different point of view. Was't Villain the first to say this?

I hope we hear something in a few days and hope WB give us what we want... an EPIC FILM!

What info exactly was you given Showtime and by who?

Its worse I think as this makes the SR sequel sort of a throw away to launch the other characters. Superman ends as a film franchise after the SR sequel and its everyone but. Don't like the sound of it.

Personally wrapping up the SR franchise into a second film that can lead into a JLA flick would be interesting :o

I must get at least ONE MORE supes flick though.

The problem with this is the Superman franchise ends with his appearance in this following JLA. The other characters go on and get solos. Superman is apparently over. Another reason I don't want Superman anywhere near a JLA film. it will be kryptonite to his franchise I think.

What is the chances that Villain is right and JLA is a tie-in to the MOS. After looking at those pictures that Retro posted at the Wizard World Chicago with the release date saying MOS 2009 & JLA 2010, exactly how he said it would be. All the other sites been saying JLA 2009 and MOS want happen or delayed. Looks to me MOS will come out before JLA. I know no one like to talk about it but like Comicbookkid and others have said, some of the stuff he got wrong was off slightly.

I've already said previously that MOS would be before JLA as well, I don't know about them being connected though.

Who knows maybe that is why WB liked Singers MOS pitch so much because of a cliffhanger involving a JLA movie maybe he even offered to direct it and something tells me Routh would love to play Supes in a JLA movie like the title says Oh.....The Possibilities they are endless

There was rumors of Darkseid being at the end of MOS leading into a JLA, but JLA is now seperate as of the news we are hearing.

Correct, and I've yet to hear any update saying otherwise on the MOS news. The only comment I've received back since the last bit of news is that "Nothing has changed, if anything they are getting deeper into development" in regards to MOS... which is completely opposite of the news that has been populating about JL recently. He stands by it. So we'll see

See my post in the other thread. :yay:
