it really covers the origins and how it spread out.... to be honest going past 1980 would have been great but hearing about MC5, velvet underground, Television, Patty Smith, early Ramones, early Blondie.... the way they all hung around the lower east side. It's just amazing to me all these great bands lived and played gigs together back then.

I've never seen it, but I would hope that they covered bands like the Cramps & the Dead Boys as well...

I've read how the Cramps were doing their covers back around '77 and when the Ramones wanted to cover "Surfin'Bird" for their Rocket to Russia LP, Joey asked Lux if it was cool that they did that. Of course, Lux said ok. But then rockabilly wanna-be Robert Gordon made a recording of "The Way I Walk", which the Cramps were known for playing at their gigs too. This enraged Lux & Ivy to the point that their first Single was their Vengeance label "Surfin' Bird/The Way I Walk" soon followed by their "Human Fly/Domino" single (which was supposed to be the first release).

The "Surfin' Bird/The Way I Walk" single was kind of different back in the day that it was two covers as opposed to original material.

i'd pay to see the dead ramones come back and kill Green Day.

CB's is still up.... I'm not sure what the deal is.... I'm hoping it's staying.. but I'll check. If I find any info I'll PM you.

The Dolls are doing a small performance at this club downtown.... it's like one of those things they promote a day before the show to get people off guard. I can't wait.

that last sentence is an understatement. Watch this documentary called Punk: Attitude and you'll see the entire history of Punk rock starting in 1974 in Lower Manhattan. I learned A LOT from that doc.

I saw that documentary on IFC. T'was solid. There's a new doc coming out this year called "American Hardcore" that's based on the LA and DC hadrcore scenes from the early 80's, I think.

Boston had a GREAT hardcore scene in the early 80's...

I would pay to see GG Allin rape good charlotte

so we're all in agreement.... green day, good charlotte and sum 41 should all rape each other.

YES... MY LIFE GETS BETTER AND BETTER... not only will I be drinking on the house at my bar Radio but I'm gonna be crashing someone else's party on Thursday and making that ***** my own.....

Tonight I'm gonna go see the NY Dolls and then gonna go see my friend's band perform uptown..... I SWEAR TO GOD I'M LIVING LIKE A ****ING GOD!!!!!!

Is that what it takes to live like a God? Cool, I've drank for a couple days in a row before and seen concerts during that time. Thanks for making me feel better Equint, I always thought it was just a fun few days, never realized I was living like a God.

And Simple Plan - let's not forget Simple Plan.

They'd be on the bottom. Singing "How could this happen to meeeee?"

Seriously, though, I'm not against GreenDay as a band - they've been around long enough to earn themselves some respect. I guess I should say I don't hate Greey Day, I hate their idiotic emo fans.

Much in the same way that I don't hate the anime Naruto, but rather I hate the Narutard Fans.

By the way, Equint - what happened to your sig?

My 47 year old mom was a fan of the NY Dolls.
They havent recorded an album in 32 years.

Why the sudden comeback

Well, happy birthday, and I hope you have fun.

The only concert I've ever been to was for the Backstreet Boys, about six years ago. I remember my dad drove us to the stadium, then drove back home blaring KISS from his speakers as loud as he could, to show the world "that he liked real music from real people who could really sing without lipsync-ing". :D

That's sad.

why don't you take your mom? I bet she would really appreciate it, specially from her favourite child

HEY! Just an update for those of you following along on the crappy-boybands argument and are looking for more ammunition...

...Lance Bass (the N*Sync-er who wanted to go into space) has just officially come out as being gay! I'm serious - he was interviewed by People Magazine.

Interesting - it's only a matter of time until Nick Carter comes out. I mean, Paris Hilton has the figure of a ten-year-old boy, so that says a certain special something about the men who've dated her.

Can't say I'm surprised.

Well happy birthday and hope you have fun. Some of these old guys can really play.

I saw the Who (well the 2 surviving members) in concert last week and they were amazing!!!
