you know.... i grow nostalgic looking at this picture.. mainly cause it reminds me of the times I'd tear up all their folders and pictures the girls in my homeroom carried with their faces.

the good old days.

whoa, the colors... I'd forgotten all about the colorful 80's colors

I'm glad I was a snot nosed punk rock kid back in 1980....

It gave me a chance not to even like all the sh***ty boy bands of the 90's and to pursue my obviously superior taste in music. ;)

Have fun at the NYD show ****e... :D

:)

Where are they playing?

And did CBGB's finally close down? Or is that happening in September?

I keep hearing conflicting stories... :(

If it down close down in the fall, I may make a trip down just to walk into the place...

I've never been there.

Lotta good bands played on that stage.... :o

:)

That wasn't me... that was yoda & fibber on one of their gay escapades.

:)

And if I was there, it was for the yoda/fibber gay escapades, and not New Edition...:o

I didn't think the NY Dolls were still together. Man, what's with all these 70's/80's punk and indie bands reforming?

CB's is still up.... I'm not sure what the deal is.... I'm hoping it's staying.. but I'll check. If I find any info I'll PM you.

The Dolls are doing a small performance at this club downtown.... it's like one of those things they promote a day before the show to get people off guard. I can't wait.

that last sentence is an understatement. Watch this documentary called Punk: Attitude and you'll see the entire history of Punk rock starting in 1974 in Lower Manhattan. I learned A LOT from that doc.

They didn't make any money back then... and now that people are discovering albeit 30 years later how cool they are, the money offers are piling in.

:(

Can you imagine all the cool scribblings on the bathroom walls???

God, if I do make it there, I hope nobody painted over them throughout the years...

I saw it a couple of weeks ago, great documentary, but they didn't cover almost anything from the 80's

they were really only around for a year.. from like 75-76, then broke up... but they're still hugely influential..... one story goes Joey Ramone asked David to check out his band... David looked at him and said "you've got to be kidding, go get a day job".... lol.

I love stories like that.

Yeah, I've seen it as well. It's excellent, but they do make it sound like punk died in the 70's.

it really covers the origins and how it spread out.... to be honest going past 1980 would have been great but hearing about MC5, velvet underground, Television, Patty Smith, early Ramones, early Blondie.... the way they all hung around the lower east side. It's just amazing to me all these great bands lived and played gigs together back then.
