t: Man I always thought I was like the only one to ever understand the greatness of Wild 9. Tied with the 3 first Crash Bandicoot games and CTR, it's definitely my favourite game of PSX and one of the best games I've ever played. To see it rated so low on every review has always been a mystery for me.
It's a superb mixture of dark sadistic comedy, great and excentric(sp?) action, fun puzzles (although I hated that Nitro dude), simple yet entertaining storytelling and cool settings. This together makes a great platform game for me. I loved these levels where you'd fall in a superlong, verticular tunnel and smash those aliens on walls, pipes and everything else that comes your way.
I think a new, platformed Wild 9 would be awesome as hell for a PS3. Image something like that again, but with new ideas and today's graphics.
In regards to Crash Bandicoot, yes I'm afraid he's as dead as a bandicoot can be now. I guess I'll never be able to see a game like Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back again (yes it was my favourite of them).
Games don't need to be too complicated. Especially the old Bandicoot games showed that simple games can be more fun. I've never enjoyed a boss as much as when I faced Tiny Tiger the first time in Crash 2, jumping on those platforms and see Tiny's awesome expressions. Instead, we now see Crash games with bad and stupid imagination (evil clones, Crunch, elemental masks, "titans", Crash and Cortex team up etc.)
