1. Yes, but there's no reason to believe another actor couldn't do just as well. No offense to Oldman - he's one of the best - but it's not like we're talking about Christian Bale or something.

Oldman looks nearly identical a certain comic book rendition of Gordon which was an inspiration for BB. That definately adds to his performance and the "feel" of Gordon.

He said he would like to direct more movies which I think he would be very succcessful at. I don't think he will retire like sean connery or anything just yet. He seems a little jaded and like he could do with a break from the acting game for a little while. If anyone will talk him out of it its old Ray winstone.

Well duh! She was surrounded by a half dozen of the best actors alive. Of course she was the worst thing about BB. She isn't that good of an actress. I'd say she's straight mediocre. But, at the same time, I think some people - like yourself - overreact much too much regarding her. It's hard to watch her on screen? That's a gross exaggeration. There's much, MUCH worse actors and performances out there. Hell, just look at the Star Wars prequel. Nearly every single actor in those films gives a worse performance than Holmes ever did in BB. As I said, she's mediocre, not bad.

And, as someone who read the BB script, I must say, Rachel actually made for a better character on screen than she did on page. Was that Holmes doing? I don't, but the fact still remains.

I don't disagree that it was the worst part. I just don't think it ruined the film.

... well yeah, its common knowledge shes not a good actress. so when she is cast in a movie with a half dozen great actors and every knows that she is the weakest link, you kind of hope that she doesnt ruin it.
