Days of Future Past Omar Sy IS Bishop Thread

I'm pretty sure Omar Sy will be fine! Like hello, speaking English isn't that hard.

english is not very easy to learn to all people, just because you have a script does not make it any easier. If i had a script in spanish that dosent make it any easier to understand if i dont understand the language and the inflations or the different meanings for similar words.

Do you not understand how people are pointing out the error of this post? You, yourself might find speaking English not hard to do because you are an English-speaking person (at least I think you are). Someone like Omar, a French-speaking person, will have a harder time than you would.

Loved Sy in Intouchables (although a friend said he pretty much played himself). Can't wait to see what he does here.

When you have a script, a coach dialect and when you memorize the lines for the movie, it wouldn't be that hard.

At Comic-Con, it sounded like Omar Sy had troubling speaking in English because he had to think the words that he was gonna use. But when you're on set, you were given a script to deliver which he probably read even before he started filming, and with the help of a coach dialect, speaking in English would be easier.

Then your performance will look like that of the village elder in Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom: awkward.

Halle Berry's African accent in X-men. She had the script. She had a "coach dialect" and she memorized the lines for the movie. So why didn't they get her to keep the accent for the subsequent movies.

Let's hear Selma Hayek, Antonio Banderas, Jackie Chan, Olivier Martinez fake an American accent.

Your were talking about actors speaking in English (American accent in this case).

I wasn't talking about accent.

I said he would be fine (in the film) speaking in English.

I thought the Dwayne the Rock Johnson would make a good Bishop.

Definitely not, Momoa would be better than Rock as Bishop.

By that logic, almost no one in the world should have trouble speaking any language clearly. :whatever:

I didn't say that.:whatever:

But with these acting roles, some actors could fake it and make it look they speak a different language very well.

Who expected Michael Fassbender to speak French in First Class very well? Some people here were surprised with his delivery.

I get what you're trying to say, psylockolussus. It's just sometimes you're not the most careful with your words and they come out sounding a little ridiculous.

Sy, as a Frenchman (and European), wouldn't have the hardest time learning English lines for the movie. He's probably been exposed to a good amount of English in his lifetime and in general, forming the sounds of English won't be as difficult for him as, say, a native Asian language speaker (where the tongue is vastly different).

Take someone like Eva Green as an example. Through practice and dedication, she's able to speak English lines in pretty good English and American accents. I know she has learned English way more extensively than Omar, but it's just an example of how the difficulty in learning English lines is vastly different depending on your native tongue.

So psylockolussus isn't suggesting that Omar is going to learn the entire English language... he's just going to learn his lines really well.

Haha I honestly still question whether Halle had a dialect coach for X1. She had so few lines that it would have been so easy to perfect them.

And just playing devil's advocate, I'm sure some of those actors you listed above could perfect an American accent if they tried really, really hard. Javier Bardem, Eva Green (as I mentioned before), and others have been able to do so.
