Days of Future Past Omar Sy IS Bishop Thread

And Halle still sucked at them in X1.

Which is why I don't think she had a coach! I think she was just making it up haha. Regardless of what people say about her acting, I'm sure she could have done the accent with the proper resources. Again, she had so few lines to speak and they were all so short.

I remember reading somewhere that Halle never got a dialect coach. It was years ago though, I don't think I'll be able to find it. But judging from Cloud Atlas and how she perfectly delivers her Spanish lines and delivers her broken/pidgin English lines. It makes me thin that if she really did have a dialect coach she would have done so much better.

I get what you're trying to say, psylockolussus. It's just sometimes you're not the most careful with your words and they come out sounding a little ridiculous.

English is not my 1st language.:csad:

He has the power to destroy the most sentinels, I can't wait for Bishop.

Haha I honestly still question whether Halle had a dialect coach for X1. She had so few lines that it would have been so easy to perfect them.

And just playing devil's advocate, I'm sure some of those actors you listed above could perfect an American accent if they tried really, really hard. Javier Bardem, Eva Green (as I mentioned before), and others have been able to do so.

Which movie is that?

Im sure with some effort they could speak good english to make it at least believable. But when he said speaking English isnt that hard, that statement is false because learning a different language is not so easy to pick up,being here in Korea proves that since the Koreans have very hard times understanding us and the way we put words together.

You are all missing the point here. There is an incident that happens in Paris, France. Bryan Singer casted the most well know French celebrity (at the moment). Bishop isn't American, he's now French.

^ Oh! So he'll speak French in the movie? Kind of like Hiro speaks Japanese in Heroes. I think I'd like that.

Seeing as Bishop is a future character I don't think he'll be involved in that event.

I have yet to watch it, but I think he uses an American-ish accent in No Country for Old Men. I've read that he was doing an American accent for most of it, but the Coen brothers liked the few Spanish accent slips that came out because it made the more indistinguishable and creepy. I've seen clips and it sounds pretty badass.

I totally know what you mean... like I said before, his words were poorly chosen. But when he started elaborating, I did kind of understand what he was thinking. In any case, I stated specifically that it's harder for someone from Asian language speaking countries. I totally agree with you that it is difficult.

I did pick that up. I'm actually trying to defend you to some degree. I get your point, and more so it sounds to me like you just said that (English not being that hard to learn) out of frustration.

To help you with your point... there are many incidents of foreign actors making American movies and having to deliver English lines.

Zhang Ziyi and Li Gong had to speak English lines in a movie for the first time in their careers for Memoirs of a Geisha. Li actually couldn't really speak much English and learned her lines phonetically... and in the end she was the scene stealer of the movie (albeit, not a very great movie).

Donna Bae had to speak English lines in Cloud Atlas. She even had to deliver a few lines in an American Southern accent. The latter of which wasn't perfect but you could tell she practiced really hard. Anyways, she was still a completely compelling (and easily understood) character.

I really think Sy being French is actually an interesting move. The future world that he comes from might consist of a countryless people where there is more of a world community versus Americans, Europeans, Asians, etc.

I think people have already brought up that possibility.

The notion of "Like Hello, English isn't that hard!" is still a face palm-inducing post. I'm glad you elaborated on your original post though psylockolossus, now it is a bit clearer that you mean if they learned their (few) lines from the script and with the guidance of a dialect coach it could very well work.

LOL you just said on another thread that You are never sarcastic. That you are always serious!

That is true. But I can be serious and sarcastic at the same time.

Bumping this!

I can't wait to see Bishop in the trailer, hopefully they show his powers!

The wonderfully handsome and bad@ss Bishop.

Man I am so looking forward to seeing some Bishop goodness! Want to see him using the gun but also using his powers, as someone else said his powers mean he can potentially do the most damage to The Sentinels so I hope he gets to use his powers at least once.
