Omega Flight!!!!!

...

I'm actually looking forward to a Flight book?

Color me surprised!

But I've always been a fan of USAgent (don't ask why...I really don't know) and loved the black and white Spiderwoman/now Arachne thanks to the mid 90s IM cartoon.

I'll actually pick this book up. Especially because of no Bendis.

It would be better if Winter soldier was on Omega Flight.

Why would Winter Soldier voluntarily work for another government? I wouldn't wanna, if i'd been used all these years.

Why is USAgent in Canada?

That really puzzles me as well, maybe he had some kind of early ties to the canadian government of something, but it would seem odd he'd keep the US agent moniker working for another government.

Ironic that Alpha Flight dies and Guardian is the only one who survives.

Because where Canada we would let him do what he wants to do.

Who says they work for the government?

Yeah I guess there'd be no point leaving one government to work for another...

I just assumed, seeing as that's what Alpha Flight did.

You assume too much young one.

lmao, the Canadian government will think they need a team. Maybe a new Alpha Flight will show up and it'll be Alpha vs Omega Flight.

Also, I see Bendis has managed to keep his kill rate up, killing a team of fairly long standing comic characters and nobody bats an eyelid. RIP Alpha Flight...

There was some rumbling on the nets, but its only those 6-8 Bendis haters.

Guess that doesn't include me. I don't so much hate him, he's just kind of that friend you had in high school and liked back then but now if you see him more than once every five years, you want to gouge his eyes out.

Yeah...that's it.

Yeah, sad.

I'll pass I think, the team make up is pretty bizarre, but I do dig Talisman.

For you doubters of Beta Ray Bill out there, from last week's Joey Q Fridays.

JQ: Howard, the reason you don't remember the announcement is because there wasn't any such announcement that I'm aware of. But, that said, Oeming will not be writing a Beta Ray Bill book any time in the near future but he will be writing Beta Ray Bill. Okay, I hope that clears things up for you.

I think it is Cap. Or the Captain as he went by for awhile. I highly doubt it's gonna be John Walker the USAgent because he's loyal to the US. It'd be more likley that they tried to replace Rogers with that *****e as the Cap in New Avengers than him going to Canada or some such thing. Then again, I doubt they'd put Cap in Canada. I don't see Cap running away from his problems like that. I think the idea of Buck (He's earned the right to not have to be saddled with such a lame name. Though Buck aint all that great either. Makes me think of John Candy.) being the new Captain or USAgent or whatever makes the most sense. I don't know. I'm gonna give it a shot. Damn, theres a lot of stuff coming out.

So aside for Vindicator, it looks like most of Alpha Flight did indeed end up as Collective fodder, eh?

The name OMEGA FLIGHT doesn't irk me so much as Alpha Flight used to have offshoot teams of simular names back in the past, like Beta Flight or Gamma Flight, where they trained recruits (like Persuasion and Diamond Lil, who have both been shafted to limbo).

As for the roster, it looks like this has a few Marvel characters do what every whiney, loudmouth Liberal promised to do if Bush won re-election, and not a one of them did; move to Canada. And I know none of them did that because I'm sure if enough did, they'd have gotten the attention of SOME Canadian newspaper or TV station (not all Canucks are fans of Bush either) and naturally our own media circus would have caught wind and made them Messiahs. But that never happened, so I guess "Bush America" ain't that bad. And no, I'm not a Republican, just I've gotten quite tired of the overkill of Liberalist jargon over the past few years, and as Marvel is choosing to magnify and express the current political climate in their stories, that means I'll have to deal with it again and again. I read comics to escape that stuff, not to find yet another place to lecture me on Liberal dogma. I know it all by heart now. I go to college. It's impossible to attend an American college and NOT be bombarded with those ideals. They're great. Just can't I get a brake? I'm almost willing to move to the wilderness for a year because I know the trees, owls and bears won't be gathering in a circle and telling me for the upteenth time how "bad Bush's America has gotten".

Whew. I digressed.

As for the line-up, it looks like we have two Alpha members Talisman and Vindicator (of course, whether that is Hudson in there is another story, he's been replaced before), as well as Beta Ray Bill, Arachnae and a "Cap" stand-in. I agree that I doubt Cap is joining a team where he is not the leader, and plus I doubt he'd leave NA. So it may be USAgent. Do I believe for a second that Winter Soldier would suddenly go "good" and take on the mantle? No. Marvel doesn't do legacy heroes. They haven't to the best of my memory and never will. The most they've had is a bunch of people calling themselves "Capt. Marvel". Legacy VILLIANS, on the other hand, they have quite a few.

I haven't read Oeming's BETA RAY BILL or ARES stuff, but I may give the first issue of this a gander, depending. At least bouncing off COLLECTIVE and CW will give a Flight title an actual direction, as most revemps of the book could never get beyond, "Hey, we're Canadian!"

For those who don't know, ALpha Flight has had members in the past not from Canada, such as from Japan, China, England, etc. Hell they frequently go into alternate realities to do battle, even at one time staying for three months

Also interviews months ago stated that not all of Alpha Flight died, and there still is the Alpha Flight team in space. The team that fought the collective could have been the copies of the originals not the real ones

"Are you accepting submissions of ideas for a new Alpha Flight?" he asked. Cebulski reluctantly agreed to hear his idea for a new Alpha Flight.

Bendis announced that he would change the name of the Canadian superhero team to Omega Flight, and he'd have Michael Avon Oeming write it with Scott Kolins on art.

Cebulski approved the idea right then, and announced that in 2007, the team of Oeming and Kolins, who were seen together most recently on Thor: Blood Oath, would be reuniting on an ongoing Omega Flight comic.

It for sure is Talisman, and there is till half a dozen other members of Alpha Flight still out there. Guardian in Earth X has had his body all but destroyed with just a head due to being a cyborn and yet he still lived so that makes sense Guardian 616 lived as he is a cyborg as well. Also why would they call themselves Omega Flight? especially if this is James Hudson, as the name itself brings back memories of his apparent "death"

Omega Flight are enemies of Alpha Flight.

Omega Flight I: http://alphanex.alphaflight.net/index.php/Omega_Flight
Omega Flight II: http://alphanex.alphaflight.net/index.php/Omega_Flight_II

Diamond Lil recently appeared in the 198 mini

Well, sir, you certainly have read up on Alpha Flight. I never really was a huge fan.

I'm sure there will be more than just the five in that picture. Probably more original members even.
Northstar and aurora both appeared in X-men recently so they're still alive. Guardian and Talisman are there. I wouldnt be surprised if others made it through.
Them saying Alpha flight is dead might just mean they're not using the name "alpha flight anymore"

Their one of the strongest teams out there, it's a shame they were never taken serious. Check out the respect thread in my sig, you will be shocked.

But all in all this will create a massive epic battle:

Thor-New Avengers
Aries-Mighty Avengers
Beta Ray Bill-Omega Flight
