I thought the first issue was a bit slow, but I still liked it. I'm just hoping the whole mini-series doesn't turn out to be about the team's formation. After New Avengers and JLA, I really, really don't want to see yet another team formation arc that's dragged out for six or eight issues, especially since that's all the issues this *****ebag mini has.

Well the reason #1 was slow as it was written on the premise Omega Flight was going to be an on-going. After it was completed Marvel told Oeming about the downgrade. Mike said in interviews it will pick up.

Lots of ongoings that started as ongoings never really picked up after the first few issues. Hence the JLA and New Avengers comments.

Sounds like they have the same problem with the mini so far as I do: the pacing is just way too slow. Oeming's structured the arc as a gathering-of-heroes arc, where each character is meticulously introduced on their own time, in their own way, but that just doesn't seem like an effective use of pages for a mini-series. It's going to end with Omega Flight finally being a cohesive unit, obviously, but then that'll be it. We'll meet the team and then watch as they fade into obscurity unless there's some major commercial support for the mini and/or the trade and it gets bumped up to an ongoing.

Also, [blackout]Bill's not likely to show up until the fifth bloody issue? Goddamnit, he was like 70% of my interest in the book! [/blackout]

Bill "died" in his Stormbreaker mini, but something hijacked his life force and put it in a human bum who had also just died, effectively replacing the alien form Bill could transform back into via Stormbreaker with a human form. Apparently, Bill's human host was a Canadian named Simon Walters.

I missed that one. My biggest complaint with Thor was that he "shared" a body. I hate the Donald Blake crap. Thor's Thor. He doesn't need a human host. It's ******ED. And now they've done that to Bill? Ugh...

Technically Bill isn't sharing the body, it's him. Simon is dead and long gone, Bill is in complete control. So instead of going into his Korbite form in the past he transforms into a human instead.

Yeah, that was the one problem with the incredible Stormbreaker mini they had awhile back. Busting up planets in three issue fight with a herald of Galactis, only to end with him stuck with a human host and teaming up with 'ugh' Spider-Man.

He's commented on the reaction to the last issue and said that while he and a lot of the diehard fans might like Bill (and Thor, for that matter) as he was, the prevailing notion was obviously that he didn't fit into the Marvel universe, so Oeming attempted to find a way for him to do so. It doesn't make the ending suck any less, especially since it's almost identical to what Jurgens did with Thor after Heroes Reborn. I wish they'd waited to release Stormbreaker with the Annihilation titles and just kept Bill in space.

I don't understand that mentality at all. Bill doesn't fit in the Marvel Universe? How does he fit any less than the Silver Surfer, Galactus, Thor, Hercules, Ares, Ronan, Super-Skrull, Nova, Captain Marvel, Thanos, the Beyonder, Adam Warlock, etc.? He's a space character. He fits just fine in space. That's like saying the Surfer fit in well with the "street level" heroes, so let's depower him and give him a goatee. Man, Oeming...WTF...
