On Reading Reviews: A Different Vision for Us?

ok, so the only experience with this subject that i can add is the following:

so i downloaded (on different occasions) copies of kill bill vol. one and fantastic four, while they were still in theaters (haha so sue me...and i did watch each in theaters). these were dvd quality vids so i can only assume they were screeners released for reviewing purposes.

in the kill bill download, the scene where Uma cuts off the top of Lucy's head was unfinished. you could see Lucy's full intact scalp, but of course in the movie, she was diced.

in the F4 download, i remember scenes with unfinished FX. one in particular that i remember was when sue was stopping a fight between ben and johnny. in the film, you can see little bits of her invisible field, but in the download, there was nothing.

i dont know if these two cases already have explanations, but i thought i'd share. hope my 2 cents helps you guys maintain some hope!

Edit: Oh! i just thought of a better example! when crouching tiger was about to come out, i remember this writer did an advanced review for either SF Weekly or The Guardian (two free SF publications) and went in depth about how the wires that held up the actors in the fighting/flying scenes were not airbrushed out.

i remember this distinctly because she started talking all about the significance of how the wires werent taken out and she interpreted it as a way of showing the audience that the physical acts in the movie are meant to be unbelievable, and it was a form of artisitic expression and blah blah blah. lol turns out SHE WAS AN IDIOT and saw an unfinished version and made this pretentious explanation of why she should like seeing the wires (you know, how critics think they're supposed to like something, and so they say they like it so other critics wont ostricize them). i shoulda saved that. soooooo funny!!!

and that is PROOF that critics sometimes see unfinished stuff!

wow, hey thanks for the support man, those are indeed great examples!

i like what i read:)

Arent the purposes of these advance screenings usually to get audience/fan reactions so they can go back and redit (cut or add scenes)?

sometimes. I heard somewhere that there were screenigns specifically for the fans to pick what version of the movie they wanted... what was up with that? i dont know if thats true... but its not unlikely.

i can pretty much guarentee you that what has been reviewed so far is unfinished even if its minor SFX work :up:

if im wrong...shoot me....

Just checking in to see how our evidence was progessing!! TOB I think you should update the master list to include various categories of evidence i.e. "Missing Scenes", "Comments from Cast" (Ashmore, McKellen, Marsden), "Trailer Discrepencies," (Trask) etc. And oh yeah here is one more thing I found (more to come--seriously)....

Hey all! Any new findings to support our theory? About the message at the start from Ratner - I don't know about Wolverini but PWR said there was no such message saying the film was still being finalised in the screening he saw.

Are you serious? It's a roundabout sarcastic knock on conspiracy theories and theorists--such as, "Who really shot JFK?" . . . was Lee Harvey Oswald the only shooter, were the more, man on the grassy knoll, etc.

I also believe that there are different versions being shown in the previews so as to not give away any of the surprises...

No it's not!!! I'm one of them!! This thread is for people who believe the version shown is not the FINAL version, the difference ranging from SFX touchups (*cough* firebird *cough*) to a surprise alternate ending! It's just a lame variation of a joke previuosly posted by SilentType pointed at all us X-Files types!! :D

On a side note PhoenixRisen, I especially like the random Cyclops head.

LOL just don't say I'm being sarcastic or roudabout!! Juvenile and idiotic MAYBE!! hehehehe ;) :D

what the **** did i tell ya! HUH HAHAHAH TO ALL THE HATERS!!! TO ALL THE NON BELIEVERS!!!! HAHAHA WE WON!

Spidey the Phoenix Firebird still hasn't been confirmed. The reviewer was raving about the Phoenix FX, no mention of the firbird.

Read the review guys, posted by LS! It says that there were parts that felt unfinished - the reviewer wasn't sure if it was actually done!

We freakin' rock!
