On Reading Reviews: A Different Vision for Us?

well overly, i figured we put cyclops to rest, but i guess not.

*Spoilers*

there have been rumors, i dnont know, early reviews.... etc... who have reported cyclops does LIVE, but of course..after the credits.... would that satisfy us cyke fans? since ive goten over his lack of screentime, i think it comforts me....its not right, but better then just flat out killing him.

I get what you're saying, but like what we have brought up earlier...There have been movies that had alternate endings before. There were also movies that had different versions during the press screening and the final film. Anything is possible. Just keep an open mind about it.

i mean we havnt even seen the movie.... who knows how subtle the ending change could be if there was one, yea, imm pretty sure ursavior said, you can have the same ending, but have an added in scene that adds to the ending with cyclops... not nessecarily ALTERNATE.... but we havnt seen the movie to say if something liek that could even be feasable...

damn its friggin 5 am, lol i better get to sleep. what was one saying Stan lee made famous.... something about being a true believer....hmmm? ;);)

yea, it was written in the X2 novel, im not sure if it was written for the sole purpose of throwing EVERYBODY off, or if it was actually going to be shot.... but im pretty sure Singer said himself they dileberatly did throw people offf... and went along with the X2 Jean in whitehouse picture...

i mean... at this point, you CANT say this is impossible for this movie to change drastically... nothing is impossible... its highly unlikely, but its feasable.

if we are presented the cerebro door, ect. when i see it.....dude, i dont know what ill do, because ill realize we have something special on our hands, even if cyclops dies. Its hard to get over cyclops, but you have to realize if he does indeed stay "dead" this is just an adaptation of the comics. the movies are their own universe. the x-films arnt over yet. we will see cyclops on film triummphantly, wether we be 35 years old or 65 years old.... (unless the world ends in 2012 like its suppose to :p)

intresting, intresting, hang in there Nell, trust me i felt the SAME EXACT way you did, when the first reviews rolled in, the novel, ugh pissed me off to no end, i lost sleep, and did a few things im not particularly proud of.... but hang in there, this thread right here is like.... rehab. i let go of the sting that was holding my hopes together for this movie a week or so ago, but since then ive gotten a hold of it again, and i can safely say that ...I can pull myself to saftey come May 26th... and you can to Nell... you just have to hang on :) This is FOX's baby.... not F4 believe it or not....& Not elektra, not even the holy daredevil..... This is The X-men... and if im wrong about all this, ill seriously let you hack my computer, or give me a virus at least....

I would never hack the computer of someone fighting the good fight as strongly as you!

Anything is possible, and this whole "anything is possible" mentality going around is exactly what brought my spirits up.

It's just very conflicting right now.

All the reviews say Cyclops dies. These reviews are from the ACTUAL MOVIE.

But Cyclops dying DOESN'T add up with what we've seen.

Evidence:

-Marsden talking about wearing the uniform
-Cameron Bright photo with Cyclops on set, in full uniform
-Kinberg & Penn talking about "surprises" for Scott's character

Wishful thinking?:

-The need to complete Cyclops' character arc
-The need to resolve the Cyclops / Wolverine / Jean Grey love triangle
-How could metal claws kill Jean Grey when rushing flood waters, and being submerged under lots and lots of water couldn't?
-X2 novelizations were purposefully written to throw fans off
-Ratner, Penn, & Kinberg supposedly being such big fans; how could such self declared fans bastardize the comic book's most beloved story arc by killing off one of the arc's most important characters, and turning the loner rebel into a house trained leader?

I will say, there is enough fuel to the fire to justify the "alternate version" theory, even enough to justify thinking this alternate version keeps Cyclops alive.

But unfortunatley, I still feel that the reviews that are coming out are much more concrete evidence to what we will really see, than this circumstancial evidence and wishful thinking.

It'd be better than flat out killing him, but it's not right...

Us fans shouldn't have to resort to "PHEW! At least he woke up in the hospital bed after the credits!!!" during the PHOENIX SAGA of all story arcs.

Don't forget Ratner says anything could happened when asked about Cyclop's faith.

What movies have had alternate versions for press screenings? That actually has happened?

I have an open enough mind to believe it's possible... but I'm too battered and bruised by this to believe it's likely.

The only comforting thought is that really... from these reviews, even one reviewer said this in his article, it doesn't seem like the full & completed version is being shown right now.

Couldn't find that much to back up TOB's theory.

Some examples of press screenings that were different from the theatrical cut are The Importance of Being Earnest (, Behind Enemy Lines and Driven according to a reviewer of Countingdown who saw both cuts of those films.
http://www.countingdown.com/features?feature_id=873717

Example of a surpise ending is Hide and Seek (4 endings were filmed)
http://us.imdb.com/title/tt0382077/alternateversions

FOX even took the bold step of not shipping the final reel of the film to cinemas.

These right here.

I swear to god, if we actually do get an alternate version, and Cyclops does survive, and he is the one to save Jean (and not Wolverine), I will be the first in line to go over to the xverse forums and publicly apologize to Simon Kinberg and Zak Penn for the negative things I have said these past couple of days.

Okay, so I guess there is precedence, even precedence from Fox...

I'll stay (this is the first time I've ever used this term on here) cautiously optimistic

That's why I'm staying optimistic.

No Storm tidal wave. No Phoenix effect. Conflicting runtime estimates. Conflicting reports on Colossus vs. Juggs. Conflicting reports of Mystique's voice. Sketchy details about the "demolecularization" of Cyke (not actually shown apparently). Every third person on the planet has seen and is posting a review of the movie, which isn't out for a week and a half, yet the ending was supposed to be SUPER SECRET...hmmmmm....

hy!! Another thing to think that there could be somen new versions is the dvd market... I do think that thre will be alternative endings and eliminated scenes in the dvd.. so that means there's for sure material that wasn't showed in those screenings.. maybe with our complaints they'll change it..
And another thing i don't understand is the fact that they've showed a lot of film on the net for the theorical length of it. Does it make any sense?

which would blow hard veiny 12 inch dick.:down

Here are some answers to certain questions people here want to know for the "theory" ;) lol...these questions were answered by Darkie:

Did they show more of the DR Sentinel?
No

Was there an Xavier monologue and Cerebro door in the opening credits sequence?
Cerebro door yes but Xavier monologue....no. This time it starts different

Is mystique's voice normal or digitized like the other films?
Digitized

Did Colossus and Juggs battle?
No

Do they actually show the demolecularization of Cyke?
Part of

Did they show Storm's tidal wave that was mentioned a while back?
i think no...im not 100% secure with this.

About the Storm tidal wave, Darkie said the movie is very fast paced so she doesn't really remember if it was in or not hence the not 100% secure on that.

WAIT

Wasn't there no Cerebro door the last time?

She also said the running time was 1:50 without credits, and she used a watch to measure it, right?

neoooo, you mean undigitized... mystique doesnt hvave her normal voice in press screenings. theres alot to combat, if poeple want to see the arguments, go over to the thread

Yep, that is what she said. She said by her watch it was 1 hour and 50 minutes of actual footage without credits around 2 hours with.

Huh? I asked if Mystique had the same voice as the previous films and she said yes.

Yes, in other reviews there was no Cerebro door and now there is apparently. And now Darkie says it's 1:50 without credits...hmmm....

then we might have a final version on our hands... or one close to it...

the theory likessss thisss yessssss

yessssss

that's wierd that there was a cerebro door in Darkie's screening!

So we have a theory, and we are a small group of people supporting it... Should we get a name for the band?

-Kisses Thread- mmmm I know...

...

-looks around and runs, but trips and falls down on his stomache- owie. damn it
