On Reading Reviews: A Different Vision for Us?

& also dont forget quotes from Ratner & co that only 30 Seconds have been cut when it seems like thats another lie. It seems like they Edited this Movie the same way they did with Fantastic Four. Only this time we got a bunch of liars that told fans directly what was up

Well, call me naiive, dillusional, or whatever you want, but I'm really under the impression that the movie that's being reviewed now isn't the FULL version.

One review even questioned if it was the final cut or not.

My concern, however, is that the final cut will just be tweaked for some special effects and the like... not to right the biggest wrong to happen to this entire franchise.

they are not direct lies if changes were made after the statements were made
things happen during the production of a film
whatever happens in the final cut
i will reserve final judgment until i see the finished product

As I'm sure you're all aware, they are after closing the boards at X-Verse so we can't ask Kindberg and Penn anymore probing questions! Interesting but I'm probably looking a bit too much into this one!:D

The more I look at evidence and refresh myself of comments made by certain people, the more I am convinced there is a surprise ending coming as opposed to just SFX touchups or stuff saved for a Director's Cut DVD. In the reviews, Cyke's death is handled ambiguously to say the least. If he were to die, I feel they would show it, not cut to the mansion where everyone hears Jean cry out telepathically. Also, Angel and Cyke not appearing in uniform remains a nagging red flag for me, all things considered. As does the random and apparently pointless addition of General Trask, who apparently doesn't have any scenes requiring a green screen as Bill Duke mentioned. We shall see, but I am strongly in the delusional conspiracy theory camp. :D
P.S. I forgot to mention the ice slide.

Oh ya I forgot about Duke and the green screens! Of everything thats missing it can't all add up to just 30 seconds!

One of the first remarks ever made about this movie, back to the original AICN script review, was that the third act was so secret it was not even with the rest of the script. And so two weeks before the official release, they just give it all up? I dunno, that doesn't really make sense.

Its FOX we are talking about here it makes perfect sense

I know. The same people who pulled the "Jean is in the White House" stunt (successfully).

Meh, I'm not that worried. I'm sure the writers wouldn't lie about stuff especially in a Q&A for the fans. They know how rabid fans can get so it's just a dumb move if they did lie.

So I guess X3 is getting the same treatment that Fantastic Four and Daredevil got, just completely leaving out all the good stuff then making us wait for a director's cut.

Okay.

I know this thread isn't specifically for Cyclops' death, but the thought of getting a different version gives some hope Cyclops indeed makes it through.

Here are a couple quotes from Kinberg over on the xverse:

I love Cyclops. Sorry Ghostman for not answering this earlier, but I guess I missed your first post. I was a huge Cyclops fan from the comics growing up. He has some very dramatic scenes in this film, and definitely a few surprises. The Cyclops/Scott in X3 is not the clean-cut boy from the first two films. Jean’s death in X2 really impacted him.

And this:

Yes, we will see Cyclops using his powers in action.

Those are 2 pretty definative statements.

If Cyclops dies, early in the film, that's not a surprise. We knew it was going to happen a long time ago. And the only time that Cyclops would have a chance to use his optic blast is when he blasts the lake... hardly using his powers in action.

These are actual statements from the writers. If Cyclops indeed dies, these 2 quotes alone, are direct lies to us about his fate. And I'm sure if you look hard enough, you can find other quotes.

I don't propose a revolution, or a bashfest. These guys are still people too, no matter how inaccuratley they may end up portraying these stories.

But should what we think is gonna happen truly happens... I think we should call them on these quotes... which would be direct lies to us.
Neither of those quotes are a true denial of his death or that he has a small role.

yeah, a few suprises, actually a million little ones, also known as his body being destroyed by demeculuriazation

Ditto.

Are the quotes misleading? Sure. Are the lies? No.

Also, I was thinking the other day...we know Wolverine takes Cyke's glasses from Alkali Lake...if Cyke is out cold in the bushes and wakes up, he's gonna have to walk all the way back to Westchester with his eyes closed...and I don't see that happening. :(

When did this rumor of a director's cut start up about The Last Stand?

People are starting to assume now that stuff like Storm's tidal wave that was missing from the press screening is being deliberately held back for a Directors cut DVD. I don't think that's the case! Sure they may have stuff for a directors cut but I don't think they're gonna cut big action and FX scenes out of the movie just for the dvd! The directors cut will more than likely have additional dialogue scenes/more character development moments.

The interesting thing is what are they going to do for the eventual boxset of the X-Men films.

Will it be Blu-Ray? Will X-Men get those deleted scenes back in that was suppose to be for X-Men 1.5? Will X2 get the X2.5 treatment? Will The Last Stand get the director's cut treatment?

They could do something special for the boxset that we know is coming in either October or November.

As I said I'm sure somewhere down the line there'll be a directors cut but I don't think they're gonna chop big, heavily advertised action sequences from the actual movie to save them for the DVD.

Very true.

Still, I would like to see an X-Men Director's Cut. My DVD player won't play the branching feature on the film so I can't get to the deleted scenes which sucks because I like them all.

There are two action moments in X2 that I want put back in in their orginal form (Logan stabbing the soldier in the kitchen and the Logan vs Deathstrike extended fight).

It was...but remember in the film, they cut back to a reaction shot of Bobby then back to Logan (as he takes out his claws). In the deleted scenes, they don't cut to Bobby. It's just Logan screaming and it's much more intense that way.

What do you guys think of the running time because as of now I don't think it's 103 53 seconds because of the version that was seen in Mexico. I think the version that the British Film Board got was the one at the press screening. That's my hunch.

What's the difference between the Mexico one and the British on Ursavior?

the Mexico version was 1 hour and 50 minutes without credit. That's the difference.

The British version is what PWR saw.
