Well I hope that this is not the case with Big J here. Though I must say that while Regina was twisted by lost love (and the controlling "love" of a parent), Rumple on OUAT was turned villainous by his grasping for power. Sure, his long possible redemption is about love (for his son, for Belle) but his turning to darkness was nurtured in his weakness and cowardice, which is why his grasp for power was so tight he let his son go. In many ways Cora was similar. She ripped her own heart out for the sake of power. I hope that the villains in WL are also allowed to be villains. I mean, they can have a bit of a sob story, the producers are right, everybody was a child once. I think the mark of the difference between hero and villain is as they say, leaving childish things behind in childhood. Or as my mother always says: GET OVER YOURSELF!! Jafar could have a terrible life as a young child that leads him on a journey towards the dark arts and being a villain. It would be and explanation though, not an excuse.
Anyone else think the Knave lost his heart in more ways than one?
