One More Day Discussion Thread

I know, I want to read The Secret History but my shop never has it. I need to order it online.

I bought The Long Count as well but haven't read it. I got Killing Pickman and didn't understand anything in that book, so I should be at least somewhat primed for The Long Count.

I also want to get Hybrid Bastards. Archaia's got a lot of stuff that looks interesting on their website. Only two things annoy me about their comics: 1) scheduling, and 2) they sometimes seem to be chasing the highbrow a little bit too much. The Many Adventures of Miranda Mercury looks like it'll be changing the latter, though; that just looks like good, clean, pulpy superhero fun.

Yeah, they've started to put some time and energy into more "fun" books. The Engineer, which came out last month, was excellent. Miranda Mercury looks like a lot of fun, too.

I got Killing Pickman for free, for some reason, and I did not understand a goddamn thing in that book, either.

The scheduling thing is a problem. I really don't know what the problem is, because half of their books (The Secret History, Okko, The Killer) are just reprinted material translated to English. It's not like they're waiting for pages to come in.

Translators? They probably have to check their **** a lot and make sure they're preserving the spirit of the original while still being well written in English.

Although I don't see that taking as long as some of their delays have been. I'm actually starting to worry that I may never see the next issue of some of these things. But I guess if Fell can come out with a new issue after a year, I can hold out for the ASP comics.

Yeah, I thought for sure that Fell was done. I just want The Killer to finish. I love that book.

I gotta get the first volume. I picked up the first issue of the second chapter or volume or whatever when it came out a month or two ago and liked it a lot.

The first volume is like sex. The moody art from the first issue, specifically, is one of my favorite things in comics from last year.

Another interview, this time with Slott and Wacker in tandem on Ain't It Cool News.

People who are still reading the comic should be pretty excited about this:
@: I know Steve McNiven, for example, isn’t staying on, but will any of the other artists be doing more than one arc? It’d be nice to see some artistic consistency.

SW: Bachalo and Jimenez are staying in the Spidey-verse and we have a few more surprise artists showing up later in the year. Then this summer Romita Jr. comes back home.
:(

I've been getting The Secret Histories since book one... great stuff... :word:

So basically you're saying that they once again used Stan Lee as a crutch for their own inability to write something worthwhile, using his words as the setup for a cheap emotional gimmick to try and misdirect people from the glaring flaws in their own work? Cause if that's what you're saying then I totally agree.

Sure, in the same sense of whether a con works based on the person the con-artist is conning.
Look, I'm really not trying to explain it to you, or explain myself. If you don't agree, seriously, whatever.

Man.

Slott said:
No. This book has, had, and will have continuity. It takes place in the Marvel Universe. I see a lot of online fans out there saying that 20 years of continuity have been wiped. And that's so not the case. This isn't a 'Crisis' or a reboot. This is Marvel, people.

I don't mean to get my geek on, but here goes… The "mind-wipe" is a comic book trope. Except for a few changes, everything happened. People are just remembering it wrong. This has been done before many times in the Marvel U. From Sentry to Iron Man to Doc Strange.

Back in '98, Kurt Busiek did an Iron Man/Captain America special where Iron Man used an A.I.M.-built brainwashing satellite to make EVERYONE on Earth forget that he was ever Iron Man. Once upon a time, Stephen Strange made EVERYONE in EXISTENCE forget he was Sorcerer Supreme, and then he adopted the new identity of Dr. Stephen Saunders.

And it didn't change or invalidate ANY of their past comics. Look, hardcore fans can figure this stuff out. They've got the skills. It's all a matter of taking off the blinders, putting on your
No-Prize hat, and getting creative.

There ARE solutions to ANY continuity problem you can come up with. Honest. WE know how they all work. But who wants to go on and on explaining it all? I mean, just look at how long THIS response is. See? Getting sleepy yet? Me? I'd rather use that time telling stories!

Looking at that, all I can say is Dan Slott has a bright future ahead of him as a White House Press Secretary.

Anybody that can say "We can't answer that at this time" has a bright future as White House Press Secretary.

Wow these guys should seriously consider a job a Fox News. Because I haven't seen this much spin outside of an episode of the O'Reilly factor in a long time.

LOL, black suit, thin tie and all.

Cripes, they're like a bunch of geeks sitting in a circle going gee everybody, see what we've done? It's so cool! An' you're gonna just loooove it!

And I finally did read (scan) all of the CrackFic at my store. Didn't feel the urge to follow this at all. Peter looked very pretty, though. I wonder if the skank will become a main character? And Jackpot reminds me of that animated chick in the pink wig on tv. Jumps around and acts perky.
