One More Day Discussion Thread

More importantly, where does that leave Peter Parker himself? He doesn't find it weird that noone remembers who he is?

[BND creators]Peter's world is so ACTION-PACKED and CRAZY now that he doesn't have TIME to dwell on the past!!! He's focusing on the FUTURE, just like we are!! Come along and join us in this BRAND NEW DAY* of Peter's life!![/BND creators]

*Pay no attention to the fact that this brand new day looks remarkably like a lot of Peter's days in the 1970s.

Trying their damnedest to make up for the Spider-Man BRAINFART that was OMD since 2007. :o

So I was readin a post on another site and I was curious...if no one knows Peter's Identity...where does that leave Venom??

If he doesnt know his identity then where does that leave their whole history?

Figure it out for him and Dan Slott will give you a No-Prize.

Maybe the symbiote "vaguely remembers" being joined to some guy who called himself Spider-Man, but it doesn't remember what else he called himself. Like the entire population of Marvel's USA, apparently.

And apparently Mary Jane remembers Spider-man jumping out of Peters window, but she is now retconned into being so stupid she can't put two and two together. Man, this is just a mess.

Isn't that what Wacker said or something? And that first page spread in BND?
IIRC, the way MJ found out Peter Parker is Spider-man is because she saw Spider-man jump out of Pete's bedroom window the night his uncle was killed. She put two and two together and concluded Peter Parker is Spider-man. Now according to Quesada and Wacker, every Spidey event still happened ,including the unmasking, it's just noone can remember who they thought was under the mask. Now for both of these statements to be true, wouldn't they have to retcon MJ into being an idiot, since she fond out who he is through common sense?

Oh and thanks. I always aim to amuse.:hehe:

Officially, everything that happened as a result of Venom knowing Spidey's identity still happened. What changed was Venom's memory of those events; if he tries to reminisce, there will be a giant question mark over Peter's face. Which isn't as farfetched as it sounds, considering Venom is losing his ****ing mind over in Thunderbolts.

Mac Gargan is losing his mind. Venom is the symbiote and Eddie Brock. :)

The symbiote was going pretty berserk too, though.

Eddie is recovering from a suicide attempt, after having suffered schizophrenia. Norman Osborn is starting to unravel. The Kingpin just received the beating of a lifetime less than a year ago.

All of these people knew who Spider-Man was, but could now attribute their forgetting Pete's identity to any mental trauma caused by the above.

Norman Osborn's been crazy for the last ten years or so at this point. It'd be kind of convenient if he suddenly developed amnesia this one time for this one very specific thing.

I wonder who at Marvel prefers the Vemonorpion instead of Brock as Venom. Under the right circumstances, Brock/Venom can be a great villian.

I don't think I'd mind using Osborn's insanity as a crux for him forgetting Peter's identity. It's sort of an interesting idea, to be honest, for his Spider-Man fixation to actually be damaging his long-term memory of the man.

But Gargan and the symbiote? That really makes no sense. They're not fixated on Parker in the same way as Osborn. For them to just forget this one specific thing would be ridiculous.

I don't think tunnel vision works in such a way that eventually the tunnel just closes and you forget what you were obsessed with.

Considering there are four psychics in Thunderbolts Mountain who are screwing with Norman's mind (Gargan's and the symbiote's too), I don't think it would be odd to say Norman suddenly can't remember who Spider-Man is.

In any case, Ellis did say that a future issue of ASM would deal with Norman and the Thunderbolts hunting Spider-Man, so that should shed some light on the subject.
