Because Hulk was losing conciuosness due to lack of Oxygen, he went there, Banner may have had the opportunity top take over, but Hulk Realizing they would die if such a thing happened snatched control back from Banner.
It is an effect the comics drew upon quite often durring the Merger between the Gray Green and Banner Personas.
There was a great Golden door that sort of floated in space, Both Baner and the Grey Hulk had locked away the green Hulk there, they both tried to keep his rage and anger locked away, but eventualy he got out.
One has to realize the Hulk in many ways is simply a split persoanlity, something the movie drew upon rather well, IMO, The Hulk was locked away in Banner for years the Gamma accident just caused enough tramma to free him, and in doing so, allowed that persoanlity to manifest a mutation/nanomeade reaction.
Banners memories of his child hood are fractured partialy becasue of what his father did to him Killing the mother in fornt of him caused the initial Schitzoid break, sent Banner into lock up and created the Hulk to deal with it.

I totally disagree. I think the movie did a piss poor job of showing that the HULK is a completely different being that thinks and has emotion. He seemed more like a brain damaged Banner. Like he just couldn't think right as the HULK. He said he liked being in that form. Said he remembered it and felt power and freedom and such. He sort of liked it. That's not the HULK. Banner hates the HULK and the HULK hates Banner. I think they'll get it right in the next one.One has to realize the Hulk in many ways is simply a split persoanlity, something the movie drew upon rather well, IMO,
actually he Spoke Twice in the Movie, in the dream sequence where he said "Puny human", and at the End battle with his dad, when Hulk actually yelled " TAKE IT ALL"!!!!He spoke once in the first movie when he said "Puny Human." If he does speak in the second one, hopefully it's another single short sentence.
...He said he liked being in that form. Said he remembered it and felt power and freedom and such. He sort of liked it. That's not the HULK. Banner hates the HULK and the HULK hates Banner. I think they'll get it right in the next one.
Why? He speaks in the comics. He has a personality in the comics. That's like making a Spider-Man movie and hoping he says one line the entire movie. There's no reason for the character to only speak one line the entire movie unless your goal is to kill any amount of personality the character has. Wolverine talks, Batman talks, and guess what? So does the HULK. He needs to talk.
Read "HULK:THE END"Just because they hate one another doesn't mean they can't understand the value in each other. They are two sides of the same coin not two separate entities. Forget that there are eight million incarnations of the Hulk and they've (Banner and Hulk) been split and recombined too many times to count. At the heart of the story is a an internal struggle. Yes, they hate one another, but they also need one another.
