Screen Name: Johnny Blaze
Character you would like to play: Doctor Doom
Powers: Can exchange minds with others (uses only as a last resort as Doom prefers his own body); powerful mystic ability, just under the level of Strange & Fate (fire bolts of energy; create force fields; dimensional travel, degree of matter & energy manipulation; call upon extra-dimensional entities for spells, such as the Crimson Bands of Cytorrak); genius in all forms of science including time travel; master planner & strategist & excellent leader; ruler of the nation of Latveria (all the perks that come from ruling a country, including diplomatic immunity when traveling abroad); Doom's Armor (grants superhuman strength; jets for flight; powerful personal forcefield (has to lower to attack via conventional means); fire blasts of force and energy; electrify the surface; contains it's own environment (air, food, water, energy) allowing for underwater and space travel; energy absorption; holds scanners from infra-red to nightvision; optical lenses used as high-powered telescopes; ear amplifiers allow detection of extremely faint sounds and unusual frequencies within audible range of humans; thermo-energizer allows strorage and use of solar and heat energy, but shield must be down for this device to function; in-armor computers allow for detailed analysis on many things including magical invocations and fighting techniques of enemies; molecular densifier allowing the enlargement of dust particles to boulder-size which can then be propeled at desired targets at high speeds)
Brief biography of the character's history: Born to gypsy healer, Werner Von Doom, and gypsy witch, Cynthia Von Doom, Victor grew up in the impoverished life of the gypsies. Despised by the Baron of Latveria, Doom's tribe was continuously hounded and hunted, never allowed a moment of peace. His mother tried to end this life of misery by making a pact with the devil, Mephisto. Cynthia gave the vile creature her soul in exchange for the power to stop the cruelty that was forced upon her people. But Mephisto had the last laugh. Cynthia was given the power to stop the Baron, but she was unable to control it. After nearly murdering the occupants of an entire village, the distraught Cynthia Von Doom was shot and killed by a surviving soldier.
Victor and his father did not have time to mourn her death though, as their tribe was again forced to flee. One day though, the Baron's wife grew deathly ill, and none could help her. So the Baron did call on the services of Victor's father, Werner, to cure his wife. But the Baron's wife was too far gone and soon died. Angered and blaming Werner, the Baron went on a rampage. Werner died in snow bank, shielding Victor from the Baron's men. Not willing to kill a child, the men allowed Victor to live. Returning to the camp in the dead of night, Victor found his mother's box of occult artifacts and books, and pledged to himself that he would avenge his family and free his people from this life of fear.
Victor studied the ways of the occult as well as honed his impressively growing skills in science, the latter which led to the creation of impressive devices that kept the Baron's men at bay. Tales of these creations reached all the way to the United States, and the young Doom soon was granted a shcolarship at Empire State University in New York. Doom took the invite to go to school there, and met a man that would become a major figure in his future life, Reed Richards.
Doom soon became the prized student at the school, but all that changed when his roommate Reed arrived. Harboring nothing but contempt for the young Richards, Doom saw him as his inferior, not as a peer. Victor quickly moved into a single dorm room, and continued his private experiment: a device that would allow him to contact his mother from beyond. There was a flaw in it's design though, which Reed pointed out. Doom's pride did not allow him to see it though as he scoffed at Richards warnings. Activating the device, Doom was able to converse with his mother, and found out her soul resided in Hell. But Richards was right, and the device soon exploded, leaving Victor with a scare on running down the side of his face.
Victor was soon kicked out of school and returned to Latveria only to discover his people had been all but wiped out in his absense. Blaming Reed for all his problems, Doom vowed he would one day get revenge on the second-rate scientist. Doom then traveled the world, seeking a cure for his scared face. Soon he came upon a lonely monestary of monks in Tibet. There he lived for many years, mastering their sorcerous ways and quickly becoming their leader. It was here that he first crafted the armor that would one day become known throughout the globe. Eager to done it, Doom put on the mask before it was cooled properly, turning his once fixable face into a truly scared visage.
Doom enhanced his suit technologically, and soon returned to Latveria and disposed of the Baron and all of his supporters. Doom then declared himself King and began making Latveria into the tiny super-power that it is today. When the alien despot Darkseid invaded, Doom protected his country and it's people from attack. Soon Doom found himself under the eye of the rogue Kryptonian, Zod, but quickly turned the tables on the tyrant when he showed Zod he had his allies, Ursa and Non, help prisoner. After making a pact with Zod, Doom began hatching another scheme. Using the Psycho Pirate, Doom began gathering devices of great power in order to create the most amazing android the world had ever seen. A creature which would be used as a personal defender to Latveria and servant to Doom's will. Soon his creation will be complete.
Doom's creation, Amazo, proved to be a remarkable success, and along with his two Kryptonian servants, former prisoners Ursa and Non, Victor has begun the workings of a nefarious plan that will surely spell Doom for all...
List a few reasons why you have chosen that character: He's easily one of my favorite heroes in all of comics. His pacifistic nature coupled with his raw power is a fun balance to play. He's arguably the most noblest of heroes in all of comics, and I need that to balance out all the evil bastards I play.
What can you bring to this game?: It's freakin' Doom, one of comic's and the world's most recognizable characters! He's a villain and I'm sure you all know how I feel about villains. I have some big things planned for the Doctor...BIG plans.
Color and font you plan on using for your character's speech: Green, Bold, Book Antiqua
How many times do you intend on posting a DAY IN the RPG: As many as need be, life permiting.
Please provide a small sample post with original content in the style that you plan to write your character in (must be at least 3 paragraphs long and contain at least 1 line of dialogue):
The shadows danced over the stone walls of the ovoid room in the bowls of Castle Doom as the candles and torch light slowly flickered away.
Victor Von Doom, Emperor of the small but powerful country of Latveria, stood in the middle of a large en-circled pentagram drawn in white chalk on the stone floor. The chalk lines were flawlessly drawn, as though they had taken many painstaking hours to complete.
And so they had. When attempting dimensional travel, everything must be in perfect order.
To Doom's left and right stood his two Kryptonian bodyguards, Ursa and Non, and directly behind the monarch loomed his greatest creation, the android Amazo.
"Do not disrupt the outline", growled the Doctor to Non as the Kryptonian shifted a bit, almost rubbing his foot against a line of chalk that formed the pentagram.
Non simply grunted in subservience and remained still.
"There", spoke Doom, more to himself than his servants, "It is finally complete."
"Now, prepare yourselves", commanded Doom as he began chanting. As the ancient arcane words escaped from Victor's lips, the symbol began to pulse with an eerie white light. The pulse was slow and drawn at first, but soon increased in speed as the Doctor's chant grew louder.
Ursa crinkled her nose as a foul oder filled the air. The smell of sulfur.
Non grunted as he curiously watched his master finish the spell and the pentagram's pulsing light turned solid and began to envelope the four in a dome of energy.
"What is happening, Lord Doom", asked the apprehensive Ursa.
"Where is this magic taking us?"
"Do not fear, Ursa", Doom replied softly.
He stood in the middle of it all, a beacon of calm amid uncertainty. The white light from the mystical dome that had enclosed around him shining off his regal armor. Under his mask though, Doom stared out straight ahead. His eyes, along with his mind, looking more at what is to come next, his face an outer mask of the indomitable will that burned inside him.
When Doom spoke those four words, Ursa steadied herself and remained calm as the event transpired around her and the world began to blur and shift before her eyes.
"We have a date with the devil, and I do not wish to be late."
A green flame erupted around the dome and soon winked out of existence in a powerful implosion. The rush of air from the collapse violently put out every candle and torch in the ovoid room, bathing in entirely in darkness.
And as the dust settled the room was empty, it's four occupants now nowhere to be seen...
