"One Universe" RPG SEASON III SIGN-UP FORM

Screen Name:
Eddie Brock Jr.

Character you would like to play:
Lex Luthor

Powers:
None. Lex possesses a genius-level IQ - as well as being a multi-billionaire.

Brief biography of the character's history:
Lex Luthor is the embodiment of the "rags-to-riches" story. After the suspicious death of his parents, Lex was able to cash in on their life insurance policy when he turned 18. He used this money to pay for tuition at MIT - where he graduated summa *** laude. Upon graduation from MIT, Lex returned to Metropolis, his home. He started LexCorp, a business venture that not only brought riches to Luthor, but also put him on good terms with the military because of his multiple contracts. Lex's philanthropy work made him Metropolis's favorite son.

Then Superman arrived.

In a flash, all the adoration Lex had worked to gain was transferred to Metropolis's new protector. Always the cunning businessman, Lex saw an opportunity for a fortuitous partnership. He offered an alliance with Superman, but the Man of Steel - seeing through Luthor's lies - turned him down. Lex now saw that he had a worthy adversary - someone who could totally unhinge the Lex Luthor persona and show Metropolis what their former "favorite son" was really capable of. Lex's determination to erase Superman from the picture led to hazardous partnerships with Victor von Doom and General Zod.

Lex's most recent plan to crush Superman involves one Otto Octavius and a strange meteorite that LexCorp discovered months ago.

List a few reasons why you have chosen that character:
Recently, I started playing Doctor Octopus over in the Marvel RPG, and I've taken a shining to the conceited, arrogant, "I'm much better and smarter than you are" type of villain. Lex Luthor is the epitome of that type of character. I've always found it disappointing that - for as long as I've been here - Lex Luthor hasn't had a presence in the RPG. I seek to change that, or at least try to anyway. Besides, I get to antagonize MB. That's an added plus.

What can you bring to this game?:
An outlet to channel my arrogance and conceit. Who knows? Maybe it'll be a kind of therapy for me.

But I wouldn't bet on it.

Color and font you plan on using for your character's speech: Bold Green Verdana

How many times do you intend on posting a DAY IN the RPG:
As many as I see fit, fool!

Please provide a small sample post with original content in the style that you plan to write your character in (must be at least 3 paragraphs long and contain at least 1 line of dialogue):

The intercom on my desk buzzes, and I push the little red button. "Yes, Jessica?" I speak aloud.

"Mr. Luthor, Ms. Lane is here for your interview," Jessica - or 'Mystique' as I know her - answers.

I lean back in my chair and smile. Ah yes, the Daily Planet interview I agreed to. I must say, I'm disappointed that they sent Ms. Lane. She's always too nosy for her own good. But I think I'll be able to dodge her pathetic attempts to sideswipe me. If there's one thing I know how to do, it's avoiding unpleasant questions in an interview.

Oh, who am I kidding? I know how to do much more than one thing.

"Send her in. Will you?"

"Right away, Mr. Luthor," Jessica replies obediently. A moment later Lois Lane comes walking in through the door like she owns the place. She always did have that air about her. It would serve her well if she could keep her brash personality in check.

But I'm not keeping my hopes up.

"So glad you could come," I lie pleasantly. I motion for Lois to take a seat.

Lois sneers. "Nice office. How many innocent blood was spilled to pay for it?" she asks accusingly. Yes, that's Lois Lane for you. Always aiming for the jugular.

Ignoring her comment, I suggest, "Make yourself comfortable. I always have time to talk to the press."

Lois digs through her bag for a tape recorder, a notebook, and a pen. When all these things are ready, she gets right to work. "Mr. Luthor, let's start with your childhood," she announces. "That was a pretty tragic - if not suspicious - accident that occurred to your parents."

I smile. She thinks she has me. No one 'has' Lex Luthor. I've been dodging questions about my parents' death since I was a teenager. I'm not about to slip up now.

"Well, I believe if you checked your facts, you'd see that it was ruled a suicide," I reply calmly. "But you're right. It was most unfortunate."

"I'd say so. After all, you inherited how much money from their insurance policy?"

"If you're implying that I had a hand in my parents' death, you are sorely mistaken and far out of line, Ms. Lane. That investigation ended long ago,"
I remind her.

"Yet the police initially believed that there might be foul play involved, isn't that right?" she counters.

I must say, I rather do enjoy this game of cat-and-mouse - if only for the fact that I always win. It's like a chess game with people's lives, and it is invigorating.

Smiling, I respond, "That was their first deduction, yes. But they soon realized that it was too inconclusive, and they had no suspects."

"Except you," she adds.

I lean back in my chair. "On second thought, Ms. Lane, I don't know that I have any more time to spare for this interview. There are other matters which require my attention at the moment."

"What's wrong, Luthor?" Lois asks accusingly. "Can't stand the heat?"

"Jessica can show you the way out if you forgot it already," I state unwaveringly. Lois glares at me for a moment more before grabbing her things and storming out. If I know her like I think I do, she'll still run this in tomorrow's Planet.

Do you know how to post pictures on the hype boards?:

I don't know, I've always found the idea of a PCed Gordon to be kind of off.

You two do realize that Keyser is probably going to hunt you two down now, right? :o

Whatchutalkinbout Sensei!?! Gordon's the s***! I'd play him if I didn't suck at playing people without powers or grappling hooks...:csad::waa:

Plus, if I were Gordon, I'd be Shlee's dad and her boyfriend - which is a very creepy thing to say. *shudder*

Serious question: are the Defenders going to do anything, or is this all a clever ruse to put us over the two week limit so our characters can be poached?

Quick everyone! He's on to us! Release the hounds!

Since it seems nobody else is interested, I'll move it forward with my next post, either tonight or tomorrow since I have off.

Well I was interested, but I'm sort of in the middle of a fight with one of your other characters, JB! BUT FINE! *runs to the corner and sobs*

The ones I'm sure of are Doc Ock, Green Goblin (obviously), and Rhino.

Count Electro, Venom, Sandman, and Lizard in that group, aswell.
