Good. Innocent blood isn't a good color on you - or rather, it is now. Although, I don't know if that length sample is going to fly with the GMs.

It seems fine to me. It's a "small sample post", as the application requests. It's over three paragraphs (albeit one-line ones) and has more than one line of dialogue. It has more than enough to show us how Mr Marko will handle Venom, without giving too much away.

Eh, normally I'd tell you to add to it, but I think I got enough of an idea of how you'll play Venom.
So you're approved.

Please feel free to give me feedback on the sample post.

"One Universe" RPG SEASON III SIGN-UP FORM

Screen Name: bkhedr

Character you would like to play: The Mighty Thor

Powers: Thor is the Norse god of thunder and lightning, Son of the Allfather Odin and Earth Goddess Gaea, wielder of the sacred hammer Mjolnir, and warrior prince of Asgard. You all know what he can do and you all know what Mjolnir can do.

Brief biography of the character's history: You all know it from reading JB's great Thor stuff.

List a few reasons why you have chosen that character: He's my favorite character first and foremost and to be honest since I am using Odinforce Thor in the Marvel RPG it would be nice to be able to write more traditional (read: Donald Blake) style Thor stories.

What can you bring to this game?: Well I imagine I will have my hands full trying to live up to the high standards that have been set by people who previously played Thor in this RPG, but I am very well versed in the character and his mythos and I believe that I am a capable RPer who can carry his own long term story (if the character inspires. And Thor does) as well as working with other people and finding the right balance to keep everyone happy. To be honest I expect my biggest challenge at the start will be keeping this Thor distinct from my Thor in the MARVEL RPG. But over time this will resolve itself.

Color and font you plan on using for your character's speech: Thor speech/ Thor thought / Blake Speech / Blake Thought

How many times do you intend on posting a DAY IN the RPG: As many as needed.

Please provide a small sample post with original content in the style that you plan to write your character in (must be at least 3 paragraphs long and contain at least 1 line of dialogue):

Lonnie Baxter tugged at the collars of his jacket in hopes to protect his face from the cold as he trudged through the ankle deep snow, and cursed the channel six weatherman as he did so.

Some precipitation my butt. Weatherman didn't say anything about the wind chill....

KRAAAAAAA---THOOOOOUUUMMMM

....or a damned thunderstorm.

It is an unusually cold September night in downtown Boston, but this is a city who's denizens do not fear winter. All around Lonnie people are making their way around. Some of these people hug themselves for warmth as they march through the snow while others can not do so because they are quite literally holding onto their hats. On the snow covered streets vehicles still not prepared with snow tires move at a crawl.

For an instant Lonnie considers flagging down a cab but decides against it.

Judy's apartment is only another few blocks anyway
he reasons as he begins to cross the street.

Lonnie does not notice the one out of control car veering through traffic behind him. He does not realize that the driver is a teenage boy eager to impress his peers.

But he does hear when some calls for him to look out. He does hear the screeching of the tires as they get ever closer. He turns his head and sees the fear in the driver's eyes. In a panic, he throws himself to the ground and covers his head with his hands, convinced that he is going to die.

Even though he can hear his heart is pounding in his ears and the desperate, futile honking of the car horn Lonnie is sure that he hears thunder again at the moment when he resigns himself to his fate.

But the collision never comes and though time seems to stand still for Lonnie he soon begins to hear the gasps and whispers, and yes even the comments of fawning women. Confused, he opens his eyes and time begins to resume its course.

Only then does he look up to see the front of the car mere inches from him. He wonders if the boy driving had time to break even as he concludes that that would be impossible

And then he sees the hand. Large, strong, virtually perfect, and locked in a vice grip around the car's right front tire.

Dazed and confused, Lonnie tries to rise only to find himself being lifted gently off the ground and propped on his feet.

Only then does he get a good look at his savior and understand what the crowd is whispering about.

"Rejoice mortals." the savior says to the crowd in a voice that seems to send the very cells in Lonnie's body tingling "For you are once more under the protection of the Mighty Thor."

The words seem to have a primal truth that runs through the crowd like water, cooling and refreshing all that it touches.

Looking now at the self proclaimed protector, Lonnie cannot help but be filled with a sense of reassurance. An instinct that tells him that everything will be all right now.

And only then does he look to the sky and realize that the sun is shining and the storm has passed.

Sorry it took so long for me to post as Johnny guys. Busy weekend.

If you want me to edit, Carnage, let me know.

No, that was actually completely unexpected. I like it. Besides hopefully Fate gets turned back to normal so I don't have to be a pig for too long. But why couldn't you have turned me into...:dkm:!!!!!!

So if this Batgirl/Green Goblin/Batman fight could kick it into the next gear, it would be much appreciated. :yay:

Attention *******s!

From this moment on, the OU is adopting the 24 hour rule.

So...

  • If a player drops a character they have played for at least an arc, interested posters will have 24 hours to get up an application for said character.

  • Once the 24 hour period is up, the GMs (myself, Wieg, and Byrd) will decide who we think will best do the character justice and approve them.

  • If it is one of the GM's characters in question, then that GM is barred from having a say in the decision-making process.
The same goes for if a GM is one of the players who posts an app for said character.

  • The former player of said character may PM us their thoughts on the apps once the 24 hour period is up. But, ultimately, it is our decision on who gets approved (don't like it, tough ****).

  • As such, certain sections of the app will be scrutinized a bit more. Such as why you have chosen this character, what your plans for this character are, and the sample post.

  • The sample post will now be extended to 5 paragraphs and at least 3 lines of dialogue.

If you really desire to play the character in question, this should not be a problem for you.

  • If a player wishes to keep their plans a secret, that's fine. But they WILL have to let the GMs know what they are so that we can make a proper choice.
If they don't PM us their plans then it will definitely hurt their chances of getting approved.

  • The same can be said for those who have no plans. If this is the case you best make up for it with the rest of your app, especially showing you know the character with an excellent sample post.

There are many worthy RPers here, so this behind-the-back dealings have to stop.
Hopefully, this will allow everyone a shot at potentially playing their favorite character.

And I know that there are those of you who don't like this rule. And to you all I say is read the "tough ****" part above. :cwink:

Sounds good to me. :woot:

Speaking of dropping characters, I've been considering dropping Deathstroke, and picking up Mirror Master in his place - hence the editing of my latest Maroni post. However, I've been faced with a setback, namely that despite reading plenty of stories featuring Mirror Master, his powers still utterly baffle me.
