I read Cap was still available. If he's no longer available, I apologize for wasting everyone's time.
"One Universe" RPG SEASON III SIGN-UP FORM
Screen Name: Steve Rogers
Character you would like to play: Steve Rogers/Captain America
Powers: The Super Soldier Serum that courses through his veins gives Captain America enhanced physical attributes. While He has no "super powers" to speak of, he is at the absolute limit of physical perfection for a human being. Also, Cap has a command presence, excellent fighting skills and is pretty handy when throwing his shield.
Brief biography of the character's history: Like many young men of the era, Steve Rogers wanted to serve his nation during World War II. However, the Army did not see him fit for service as he was frail and weak. Selected for Project: Rebirth, Steve was transformed into Captain America via a dose of Super Soldier Serum. He did not wear a traditional Army uniform and did not carry a rifle, but he was nonetheless a very effective soldier. Along with Bucky Barnes, Namor and the Torch, Cap was involved in much of the heavy fighting of World War II alongside the Allies' soldiers. Sadly, in March of 1945 Bucky was killed in action while Captain America became MIA.
Years after the war, the Avengers found Captain America's body frozen in ice. But Cap wasn't dead; he was very much alive and the serum had kept from aging. Unlike the rest of his buddies from the war, Steve was not an old man. He was unchanged from 1945 and had to readjust to live in modern America. While Steve was coming to terms with life in this bizarre new world, he busied himself with the Avengers, becoming their de facto leader. Cap's coolness under fire and motivation to always do the right thing, caused him to become awed by his friends in the Marvel Universe. Even when battling enemies way beyond his skills, Cap proved to be indispensable to the Avengers with his command presence. Many think that shields and Super Soldier Serum is what makes Captain America. The truth is, Steve Rogers is what makes Captain America. You could take the same skills and abilities and put them in another soldier and still not have a Captain America. He is truly a hero for the ages. Humble Steve does not see himself this way and would only mutter that he is no hero, just a man doing his job the best that he can.
When not fronting the Avengers Steve is working through is on again off again relationship with S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Sharon Carter, cleaning up street crime with his good Buddy the Falcon, working for Nick Fury to root out terrorists and even going toe to toe with his old foe The Red Skull.
List a few reasons why you have chosen that character:
- Cap is the only character I think I could play with any degree of passion. Most of the characters I could only base upon the interpretations of the various writers who have written them over the years. I feel I know Cap well enough to be able to stay faithful to the character while, at the same time, fleshing him out with some of my own characterization. I could, in a sense, make him mine.
What can you bring to this game?: Again, I can bring some new ideas to the character of Captain America, while still fitting into established character perimeters. I will admit that I am brand new to online RPG's at the Hype, but I am experienced in pen and paper and dice RPG's out in the real world.
Color and font you plan on using for your character's speech: I'd say red, white and blue, but that won't work. I'll go with straight blue.
How many times do you intend on posting a DAY IN the RPG: Honestly, it would vary. Some days I could post quite a bit--as much as the game determines--while other days I would have to post very little or not at all. I do have a job that takes precedence.
Please provide a sample post with original content in the style that you plan to write your character in (must be at least 5 paragraphs long and contain at least 3 line of dialogue):
Somewhere in the middle of the night, I bolted upright in bed. I waited a few seconds for my eyes to adjust and glanced at the clock beside my bed: 2:34 a.m. Drenched in sweat, I threw my arm over my head and lay back in bed.
The dreams were getting real intense--almost to the point that at times I began thinking that the dreams were real and my reality were my dreams. They all started the same way: Bucky was jumping onto the drone plane. It was 1945 all over again and I watched helplessly as the plane took off, with Bucky aboard and exploded over the skies of Norway. The American GIs around me would ask me how I could have let the boy die while Zemo and the Skull would taunt me. Enraged, I'd throw my shield at them, but I could never hit them. Sometimes the shield would simply shatter.
I sat up, through my legs over the edge of the bed and stared out the window.
"No more sleep tonight."
When I don't sleep, I do something constructive. That's how I came to be out here, perched on the rooftop letting my eyes and ears patrol the city.
The sun wouldn't be up for another two hours. But crime, never sleeps. Not in this city. I slipped my shield off of my back and lept off of the rooftop, grabbing onto a rain gutter and riding all the way down to the alley below. A dock worker, on his way home from the graveyard shift was being hassled by two kids. They said something about making him hand over his wallet.
I'm not a bully and I don't generally like to go out looking for trouble, but as long as I am here I need to send a message to the vermin of this city: no more.
"No more!" I landed on the ground with my shield at the ready.
Usually my presence seems to make criminals scatter. This time I wasn't so lucky. These guys were looking for a fight. They abandoned the dock worker, and with guns drawn, advanced towards me. They were just boys. I cursed them for making me do this.
"Put the guns down!" I demanded.
"Nah," said one of the boys. "We'll take our chances."
"Yeah," said the other. "All you got is a shield."
"It's all I need..."
Do you know how to post pictures on the hype boards?:
