"One Universe" RPG SEASON III SIGN-UP FORM
Screen Name: Master Bruce
Character you would like to play: The Flash (Wallace 'Wally' West)
Powers: The Flash possesses the sole ability of superhuman speed, which enables him to tap into what is known as 'The Speed Force' and defy the laws of physics. When in this state, he is even capable of traveling faster than the speed of light. His speedforce abilities also allow him to vibrate his molecules and pass through solid objects, aswell as generate pure lightning from his body.
Brief biography of the character's history: At a young age, Wally West idolized the Flash of his generation, the then successor to the mantle, Barry Allen. When Allen and Wally's aunt, Iris West, started dating, Barry decided to surprise her nephew by appearing as his alter-ego in person. But something went wrong. As Barry explained his origin to the bewildered young Wally, against all odds, the exact same occurance transpired. Wally was transformed, given the same abilities of speed that his idol made famous. Ridden with guilt over what happened, Barry decided to train Wally to use his gifts for the benefit of mankind. Wally West became Kid Flash, The Flash's young sidekick.
Years later, Barry and his archrival, Professor Zoom, came to blows on the eve of Allen's marraige to Iris. When Zoom threatened to destroy his bride, Barry was forced to commit the greatest mistake of his life: Breaking his neck, he effectively killed Zoom before he could harm anyone else. Though in the eyes of the media, and even the law, Barry was justified, Wally didn't agree. The incident scarred him so much that he hung up his Kid Flash suit and bitterly severed all ties to his uncle.
Barry hesitantly moved on, carrying on the legacy of The Flash without his sidekick. For years, he remained the sole protector of the twin cities of Central and Keystone City, as Wally grew to maturity, attending college and remaining out of the buisness of costumed heroics. But fate intervened on his life once again, when Zoom's own successor, Hunter Zolomon, attacked Barry in a vengeful rage for the accident that transformed him. Though Barry fought a valiant fight to keep him down, he eventually lost, and the world lost one of it's greatest heroes.
But The Flash would live on. Devastated over Barry's murder, Wally stepped up to the plate to honor the legacy he left behind. Now a grown man, he decided that he would put on the mask himself to become Keystone City's newest protector. There's a new fastest man alive!
List a few reasons why you have chosen that character: Not only is Wally my favorite incarnation of The Flash, but he's one of my favorite DC characters ever. Under Batman and Superman, Wally's mythos are probably the most accessible to my knowledge and my writing abilities. Plus, I've been itching to play a speedster again for a long time.
What can you bring to this game?: Hopefully, since it's The Flash, I can bring a certain amount of what makes comic books a fun medium for all of us. Wally lends himself perfectly to an interactive setting, so I can't think of a better character for me to return to top form with, aswell as help boost some activity around here.

Comeoncomeoncomeoncomeoncomeoncomeon!
Reluctantly crouched at the starting line,
Engines pumping and thumping in time.
The green light flashes, the flags goes up,
Churning and burning, they yern for the cup.
No matter where he ran, he just couldn't find a way to escape. Every corner he passed seemed endless, as he criss-crossed his way from one to another in hectic frustration. But his time was about up. Even as he looked to find a new way to avoid them, he could see the ghosts coming upon his trail with increasing urgence. Finally, in a last ditch effort, he crossed into the lane that would grant him his salvation. Closer and closer he came, nearing that precious beam of light that would grant him freedom. Until one of them shot out of the darkness, and enveloped him.
They deftly manouver and muscle for rank,
Fuel burning fast on an empty tank,
Wreckless and wild they pour thru the turns,
Their prowless is podent and secretly stern.
It was a fine death, to be sure. Quick and painless, with the slightest hint of dignity and grace. But in the end, he just couldn't cut it. The darkness came over him, and he saw his final sight to behold:
GAME OVER
As they speed thru the finish the flags go down.
The fans get up, and get out of town.
The arena is empty except for one man,
Still driving and striving as fast as he can
"No! No way! That was completely unfair!"
Consumed with frustration, and a far less amount of maturity, Wally West banged his hand against the panel of Keystone City Arcade's 'Pacman' videogame system. The screen went blank, as his character rolled into himself and evaporated. Leaning against the screen, Wally could only helplessly watch as it went back to the demo screen, asking for twenty five more cents for a new game.
"You may have won the battle, but not the war!", He declared, as he began fishing through his pocket for another quarter. Only to realize that there wasn't another one left. He had spent the last of his pay.
"...okay, maybe you... won that too.", Wally embarassingly admitted, taking his hand out of his pocket and shrugging his shoulders.
The sun has gone down and the moon has come up,
And long ago somebody left with the cup,
What a fine way to spend a Saturday afternoon, he thought to himself. All of his campus friends were off having the time of their lives. Some were getting hammered. Others were probably scoping out ridiculously attractive women on the beach. And some were... well, probably doing both. But Wally? His idea of a fun time was hanging around a mostly deserted arcade that he had spent a ludicrous amount of money in since he was a kid. Nostalgic? Maybe. But you definitely didn't see that as a popular idea amongst the fraternity crowds.
"You done?
Already?", The arcade's manager asked, as Wally came back to the counter to reassume his temp job as a sale's clerk. "Cripes. That's gotta be a new record."
"It would've been!", Wally defensively argued.
"But I didn't get that last dot in time. I swear, the thing's got it out for me..."
"I meant the record for guys who've lost in a single day, kid.", His boss corrected. "Now stop screwin' around. We got a buisness to run, here."
Wally looked out at the empty arcade, as his boss went to the back.
...what buisness?
But he's striving and driving and hugging the turns,
And thinking of someone for whom he still burns.
Suddenly, a loud explosion was heard, from the other side of the city. Wally turned, instantly alert, as all of the lights flickered above him. He heard his boss yelp, slightly, but even that was lost to him as the world instantly slowed to a crawl. Looking back to make sure he wouldn't be seen, Wally was gone in a blur the next second later.
He's going the distance.
He's going for speed.
She's all alone, all alone in her time of need.
Reappearing in the city's streets, Wally watched as several citzens began running in the opposite direction, obviously panicked. Running at a slower pace, Wally tried to catch up with one of them to ask what was going on.
"Hey, excuse me, I... Miss, do you know what's... sir, do you... what's going on downt... dude, do can you tell me... I..."
Stopping in the middle of the sidewalk, Wally sighed in frustration. It was useless. But he had a better way to get to the bottom of things.
"Oh, the heck with it."
And Wally was gone, once again.
Because he's racing and pacing and plotting the course,
He's fighting and biting and riding on his horse.
He's going the distance.
Yeah!
Stopping in a deserted alleyway at high speed, Wally looked down at his golden ring, with a lightning bolt ensignia stamped on it. With a wide smirk, he switched the dial, watching as the ring's capsule piece opened and crimson fabric exploded out of it, forming into a jumpsuit in mid air. Running forward, his speed increasing with each step, Wally joined the fabric in a twirl of wind, and stepped out completely covered in it.
Wally West wasn't there, anymore. He was The Flash.
"This better be worth the day's pay I'm losing over this,", He said to himself, as he kneeled over, as if a sprinter on the starting line.
He's going the distance.
He's going for speed.
He's going the distance...
