Transformers Original TF series was just Toy commericals...

I guess I see your point. let's all keep quiet so bay and company can do whatever they want to something we like and we'll just sit around with our thumbs up our butts.
OR
We can complain now about what we like and don't like and MAYBE just maybe they will throw us a bone and change some stuff around.
even if it's the most miniscule change it's better than nothing...
It's probably too late but at least I will try as opposed to taking a "wait and see" approach

They are gonna do what they want anyway...regardless if we complain or not.

They changed snakes on a plane because of internet feedback.

At the very least they will know that they are pissing off people that care with thier needless changes and all the changes for the worse.

because the buzz for Snakes on Planes was created on the internet...they marketed it on the web

Like I said at least they will know that some of us arent happy with what they are doing.
Hey Bay! If you read this let it be known that I am going to meet you someday, find out what you loved as a child and take a crap all over it!

read my sig...that is from the makers of the movie

Bull ****

I'll take G1's toy commercial story with the BRILLIANT voice acting of Frank Welker over any of the recent REAL toy commercials like Armada or Cybertron.

Dont Diss G1, mother funker because There's real bad transformers shows out there. He-man, now there's a toy commercial show, but even that's better than most of the recent anime crap that's been coming in. Note that I'm not saying all anime being imported is crap like that pokemon garbage that just won't die. That's a damn toy commercial.

You can lower your standards and eat up any old crap with transformers logo on it, but not me. NOT EVER.

Again, if it weren't for fan uproar Prime would be a firetruck, and have a female robot love interest (Arcee), Soundwave would be a troll, and Will Smith would be doing the voice of Prime. So fans do make a difference.

And, if you think they're not marketing Transformers on the net and through fan buzz you haven't been paying much attention.

Let me also add that though I recognize G1 was made to sell some cool toys, the difference between that and Pokemon is that it actually tried to maintain some sense of integrity as an epic sci-fi story about the classic good vs evil while Pokemon has no intention of hiding the fact that it's just a ******ed 30min toy commercial.

Take the original TMNT series as another example of a show that's not really hiding the fact that it's made to sell toys. The recent series completely blows it away, while oddly I cant say the same about whatever recent transformer show we have out there now.

RESPECT THE QUALITY, MAN....

Oh Bay said that?? It must be true! Of course he's going to say something like that because he wants you in the theater opening day so he can take your 10 bucks and make another crappy movie!
I can't beleive you would point to his blatant self promotion as your argument!
The fact is Bay makes SHALLOW movies.
He tries to trick you into thinking the movie is bigger than it is with camera angles, explosions and dramatic music.
I don't fall for that crap. Don't get me wrong all those techniques are great in the hands of a good director but bay has yet to prove himself as a director of any importance.
All his movies thus far have been fluff. Shallow, mindless, souless, bubblegum fluff with a huge budget.
I sincerely hope that this is his swans song movie and it turns out beautiful but I sure wouldnt bet on it based on his track record....

Bay didnt say it but since he is the root of all evil then it must be bad

No he's not the root of all evil. I don't think he's evil at all.
He is just egotistical and under the assumption that camera angles and FX are what make a good movie.
If some people like his moves thats great but some of us think of movies as more than eye candy especially when the movie is based on something we are close to.

Bay is a crappola director. What more can be said? But since Transformers was crap to begin with (right guys?) it's only fair.

Oh puleez. This reminds me of the Godzilla 98 internet campaign they did in order to get the public "ready" for their impotent monster... by calling the originals utter b-movie crap (they are b movies but they're by far not crap) with doofs in rubber suits.

"Folks this is not some dude in a corny rubber suit!!!! This is like something you've never seen! You WILL BE amazed!"

I can understand being excitied about any movie with giant robots... but THIS movie? Knowing all we know?????? Being called "Transformers???" I just don't get some folks.

True dat!
Alot of the reason Godzilla (and Transformers for that matter) was corny was just because of when they came out. Godzilla was great for the 1970's just like transformers was great for the 80's and it would be great if the movie producers and directors would take what was good and build on it instead of totally re-inventing the property and making it barely recognizeable.

no, it was don murphy. the root of all pompous ass-baggery :cwink:

I'm so ****ing tired of these threads. Has it ever come to mind that if the show was just a toy commerical then how did TF take off? Good story, voice acting and was cool as hell. Yes it was a toy commerical. But guess what? It was made good. Shows these days should learn from TF and Gi-Joe.

And don't forget about the comics etc.

Was the show really well written? It was a cartoon in the 80's. What do you expect?

I don't think any of us wants a word for word 1980's cartoon remake. This quote is from a director who gets what an ADAPTATION is all about.

Peter Jackson: I find that what seems to happen is you obviously start to change the structure because a book is structured in a way that suits the book and a movie has to be different. LORD OF THE RINGS is structurally very, very different from the books. But there's nothing to stop you retaining the spirit. You end up in a situation where people feel they've seen a faithful adaptation, which in some respects, if you really analyze word by word, it's not faithful at all depending on what your definition of faithful is. LORD OF THE RINGS was incredibly different from the books, but it's regarded as being very, very faithful when they're actually not. But they did capture the spirit and the tone of Tolkien, which was very important to us.

Well, I think some of the better shows of today (Teen Titans for instance) are direct descendents of Transformers. Back then before TF we had Smurfs, Heathcliff, and the like. Even TF's "sister" show, G.I. Joe was god-aweful (compared to the comic). It wasn't until TMNT that TF was supplanted.

Transformers wouldn't have outlived all its brethren the way it has had there not been something very special about the story, characters, and sci-fi elements. Shogun Warriors was about big robots. So was Voltron (both of them). And, of course, Go-bots. None of those have inspired so many people as Transformers.... so there IS something to that silly little cartoon and comic book and toys.

There is a diffrence from adapting a single story and adapting something like Transformers that has been changed and changed countless times. What I see is happening now is that people are complaining that Tom Bombadil isnt in the movie and they havent seen any of the LOTR movies.

Transformers has never been "changed countless times." This movie is telling the "Spike and Bumblebee" era story of Transformers. And that has never been rebooted or redone. Every incarnation of Transformers has taken place in its own place of history... i.e. Optimis Primal is not Optimus Prime.

I have read conflicting viewpoints on the production of this movie and I think both sides have a legitimate point. I will remain cautiously optimistic about the film for now. I just pray that the production team will not treat the fans of Transformers the same way the fans of X-Men were treated with X3. I still have a hard time stomaching all the lies Brett Ratner, Tom Rothman, Simon Kinberg, Avi Arad, and Zak Penn told to get fans to see that crap.

The Robotech cartoon is one of the few that could succeed as a word for word adaption to film. One will probably be made in the next five years(Followed by at least 8 more films in the 20 book saga.). I pray that the property rights will not be given to 20th century Fox.

I wholeheartedly agree with this.

I would just like to add that any director who takes the Robotech story and makes an unrecognizable movie adaptation will get hate mail from me for the rest of their life.:cmad:
