Aren't these forums basically pointless then? It's just a bunch of fans speculating about movies that haven't come out yet.

The point of these forums is to pass time quicker between movies coming out, oh and to have a good chuckle when people have a meltdown. :sly:

Anything else and your not using them right :cwink:

Honestly the only part of the costume that I'm still having trouble getting behind are the things hanging from his head.
I guess it's because I'm seeing them too much as metal deadlocks..:funny:

Seeing more of him and learning why they're there would probably help.

One thing I don't get: apparently him being a sort of cult leader goes against the original character? How?

In the 90's animated series he promised Deathbird to kill Lilandra to get her to do his dirty work. When questioned, all he had to say was: "I lied". Magneto was also promised a world where mutants are leaders which turned out to be another lie. That's probably exactly what is happening in the movie.

But that's why he's a cult leader. He's manipulating people into believing his plan. That's exactly what a cult leader does. They manipulate people into believing whatever they want them to. Him being compared to a cult leader makes a lot of sense.

He is both a cult leader and someone who brainwashes, it seems like he also has the ability to control people going by the trailer where Xavier looks possessed. I don't see how this is different than the cartoon since Apocalypse basically lies to people to get the upper hand. Also I like that he doesn't always posses people since it gives the 4 horseman real motivation for joining and not just because they are forced to do so.

Whatever their reasons are for joining him is going to be interesting. Because he exposes their insecurities if anything. Play on their weaknesses and fears. Because I highly doubt that Storm or Angel are bad. They're not meant to be bad guys. They're just on a dark path and don't have someone like Xavier to guide them instead they have Apocalypse. Magneto is half and half as we've seen before and who knows what Psylocke is like.

Someone on the imdb board brought up that he's merged with Cerebro? I kind of see it the metal wires and the shape and design of it especially looking at it from the back..

It looks like it but it can't be the case. He obviously recruits all of his horsemen before he goes to the mansion and he has that look while going to recruit Magneto. Which is before they go to the mansion which is what we see in the leaked trailer.

More like Apocalypse perhaps has the ability to sense and seek out other mutants and his headpiece/heads acts as a techno-oragnic cerebro in a way, and the design of the character is meant to mimic that.

I doubt it though, we do have Caliban for that.

One of the things that was always the most interesting about the process of becoming a horsemen to me was that it was basically torture and horribly physically scarring to be a horsemen. Archangel struggled with it for years, as did Gambit and to a lesser extent Sunfire.

That's what gives me some hesitation about this "cult leader" idea. If he just manipulates people to do his bidding, that is tremendously less cool than twisting and molding the heroes into his slaves/champions. I was hoping the horsemen would look like amped up dark and twisted versions of themselves.

just giving them some unique armor is a little weak

^That's what I figured. Like, if he views you as worthy, he's not giving you a choice. You fit his mold and you WILL bend to it.

No these forums aren't pointless. Especially when we have official photos to look at and discuss. But instead of that people rather take time to manip a picture they don't like into something they do. Which is pointless because that won't change how it is in the film.

People here also give their movie reviews and suggestions. So its not all speculations.

our reviews and suggestions are also pointless though, in the grand scheme of things
I see no reason to get testy about people posting manips
who knows, maybe a manip gains traction online, Singer sees it and decides to go 100% white on the eyeballs in post, that's a small internet win right there

You must be kidding if you really think he's gonna see a manip and change everything about the characters look just because of it. Be realistic. Especially after scenes have been filmed and promo shots have been taken.

Odds are his eyes will be normal, then black when he uses his powers. Look at DOFP and Charles' eyes in the trailer when he makes contact with En Sabah Nur.

Considering according to Singer no SF/X shots were done on this Comic-Con trailer it's highly unlikely Charles' eyes turning black is what we'll get in the eventual movie.

Could be the marketing people supplementing that aspect for the time being.

no, i dont in any way think that it's going to happen
i'm just saying, in terms of the "pointlessness" of manips, it's no worse than any other suggestion someone throws out on this board
ya think directors listen to these boards about how the characters should behave or the action scenes we'd like to see?? hell no, so it's all equally pointless

I was just saying, in our wildest internet nerd dreams, maybe, just maybe, it can affect something, so don't begrudge people for posting them. Should they be in the manips thread? Probably, but in terms of showing what people would prefer, there's some value in it

oh, and i didn't say he'd change "everything about the characters", just white out Apocalypse's eyes, which would be super easy but probably improve his look for a lot of people

I don't see how a few manips can be so hurting to people. It's basically a harmless "This is how I'd change his look" comment with a picture to show how. As users above me have said already, it's not worse than bringing up ideas and thoughts in general.

If people want to criticize Apocalypse's look, then they are free to do so. At least manips are constructive criticism rather than just writing "This looks bad".

In my opinion, I don't see why FOX shy away so much from his comic book looks. The marks/scars/whatever on his cheek are iconic to his looks. It's featured here, but looks too toned down for my taste. Also, I think he should have a more grey skin instead of blue. There are so many blue mutants already, we don't need them to make Apocalypse another one. It makes him look a bit generic, even though his costume is very cool.

My main gripe is with his face. He looks too human for being Apocalypse. I think his eyes shouldn't be as human as they are in the pictures, and as I said, the markings on his cheek should be more clearly visible. To me, the look we are presented in the pictures doesn't strike me as Apocalypse to be frankly honest.

Yeah, he looks like a regular blue faced person. I agree, why make him blue when they don't need to, while seem to keep Angel white?

I cannot even recognize Oscar Issac in that make up. Fox could use have someone who was very tall and muscular to at least make Apocalypse look more intimidating. Say a WWE fighter or one of those blokes from UFC

I can't take people serious when they say things like that...

Oscar is very good actor, but I'm not interested in seing short Apocalypse in his normal size, with tiny voice.
