From what I understand about the laws so far, you get copyright patent for the show as a whole package includes all characters created for the series. What do you guys know about copyright stuff? Me and my friend are partnering to create a self produced cartoon series! the pre-production is going very nicely and we thought we're gonna premiere it on youtube, but more importantly, we're gonna try to sell it to a network. So before that I presume I have to get a solid copyright for our work
Do I have to get a copyright for every individual character or just once for the overall show?
If you publish it on YouTube first, they will acknowledge your rights for copyrighting the material, but it won't be printed, so it won't really be that good.
The network should give you guys the intellectual rights, and get the right of distribution. That comes from my severely shallow understanding of how it worked with Fox and Matt Groening.
I know drawing and fundamentals of animation, but directing an entire production that we aspire to make tv-quality? Dis gonna be good
