Though I'm sure it takes place in the same universe as Cloverfield.

It actually doesn't. The director said that someone down the line (JJ Abrams?) saw what they were doing and thought that it was Cloverfield-esque in tone. So I guess they're going for an anthology type deal? Not sure what they were trying to accomplish by slapping cloverfield on it. I'm not even convinced that there's actually a monster.

I don't think it's even in-universe, sounds like the Cloverfield name was only really used for marketing

That's odd. Maybe they're going for a Twilight Zone kinda deal with the Cloverfield name.

Just saw 10 Cloverfield Lane -- it's definitely in the same universe, though I wouldn't call it a sequel to the first film.

I must be the slowest person on Earth, even after seeing the title and everything, I legitimately had no idea of a connection to Cloverfield.

ouch sorry to hear he got hurt.

In other stuff has any one ever read the spider-man season one trade that came out a few yrs ago. My shop got a copy of it in the other day and i was curious if it was a good read or not worth the time/money.

Season One is kinda like Spidey. But basically all of the Season One's (Avengers, Spider-Man) seem to be 60s stories retrofitted and modernized a bit. It's kinda like Earth One.
As for if they are great, that i don't know.

So, BvS has gotten bad reviews from some ''critics''. What some of you think?

Exactly what I said in the GD thread: If YOU end up enjoying/liking/loving the movie, that's what matters most.

All this movie needs is to make $$$ and it's fine. Had TASM2 made the money Sony was hoping for, as an example, they would've continued on no doubt and I could easily see the case here for Snyder and co.

^Pretty much.
And we have Transformers movies, especially their last one, bad reviews, lots of cash.

I have heard fans like it and it's critics as bashing it. And it doesn't have a high rt score right now. I hope it does wrll. But there is aspects to dc films I don't like what they are doing. But I would hope for dc they can get a success and do well like marvel has.

As for the season one spidey trade any one else check it out. Like I said a few days back I am interested in getting it. But I just wanted to see others opinions on it.

It's pretty much exactly what I expected. Very tasm 2-esque in the crappy world building focus, that's what it seems to be.

For me with most films I don't bother with critics. If said film is something I want to see and promos peeked my interest I will see it. Then judge the film once I see it. Which I will he for b v s tomorrow night.

Spoiler free Batman V Superman review:

Rating: 7/10

Ben Affleck is the best live action Batman by a mile, in the way that he plays him. But some of the writer's/Snyder's choices in a few scenes almost ruin it, for some they probably have. When Ben takes on thugs in that Batman suit, he was actually pretty scary. The voice changer was an enjoyably fresh alternative to growling and if it will stick, I'm all for it.

Here's the things that really bug me. While the cinematography was out of this world, Zack is still more style than substance (or Goyer? Both? I'm confused about who is to blame). Seriously, this team might be the worst ensemble ever to kickstart a cinematic universe. Not profit-wise of course, these movies are still pretty appealing on the surface and maybe GA just doesn't care. The tone and overall vibe makes the movie feel so grand that superficially, it's a masterpiece. But Superman/Clark Kent (while very slightly improved) still lacks personality, dialogue is often too self-important, the new Lex Luthor is kinda cringeworthy, and the third act had way too much crammed in it. There was a couple good lines, and Batman was a blast, but weighed with the bad stuff, it makes the movie overall a disappointment

It was really really horrible. Like, one of the worst CBMs ever made level bad imo. Batman was really poorly handled, cgi was laughably bad, the plot had absolutely nothing in it to commend, and Superman...well, if you see him for more than 5 minutes at a stretch you are watching a different movie. I'd give it a 1/10.

Well saw batman superman. For me I def say lex was weakest link in film. Some story and pacing issues. I did like batman elements in the film. And there was some good moments. And nice tease to jl. Still not a fan of gal as ww. But her fights where good solid but not the best film ever but was a bit better then man of steel.

After all the negative reviews, I will think of the 60s Spider-Man cartoon while I watch this, and won't take it seriously.
Or something better, like Mortal Kombat Annihilation, which I find joy in picking apart due its sheer stupidity.

oh i def dont like snyder comments on why tv flash was not a option for dceu and now the whole jimmy thing really........
