Hey guys who are your favourite Spidey writers?

I think since Lee/Ditko, the one person who had the most impact on the Spidey mythos was Brian Bendis. I was just re-reading his Ultimate run the other day and it was phenomenal. Even his "Venom" arc gave me a newfound appreciation for Brock, who I never really liked. If they ever do decide to adapt the Symbiote storyline, they should stick with the way Bendis did it.

Man that's a hard one. There has been so many good writers.

Easily Roger Stern. He has one of the best runs in Spider-Man comics. I also like Gerry Conway, J.M Dematteis, and JMS. I'll throw Defalco in as well.

Stan Lee is awesome, but I loved the Tom DeFalco run. So yeah, other than Lee that's who I'd go with.

So again I wanted to get some ideas on some sketch covers I am getting down next month at a show. One will be a blank of secret wars#1 I am thinking something dr. Doom related. The other is asm vol. 3#1 blank. And wanted to get some thoughts on some cool sketch ideas.

Stan made a bigger impact with Spidey after Ditko departed the title, but it's still thanks to what Ditko and he originated.

My favorite Spidey writers:
  1. Stan Lee
  2. Roger Stern
  3. Tom Defalco
  4. JMS
  5. Paul Jenkins
  6. Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa

I love what Bendis did in Ultimate Spider-Man, and that it's an alternate reality, but his take on 616 Spidey is less than stellar.

What sort of cameo would people like for Stan Lee in the new movie?

I still think TASM contains his best cameo to date.

His best cameo is the one in Fantastic Four 2: Rise of the Silver Surfer.
The one in Big Hero 6 is another great.

I'd like to see Stan as a citizen saved by Spidey and hear him say his famous: 'EXCELSIOR'.

I liked his one in asm 1. Was a funny bit. Hopefully they do have a good one for him for the new solo.

Have no recollection of Stan's cameo in Age of Ultron.
His cameo is entertaining in TASM1, but it's very cartoony, especially for a movie that attempted being grounded.
I prefer his sequel cameo a lot more.

EDIT: Sorry for the double.
Anyone else here likes Castlevania games?

I certainly agree on that. Perhaps, if Mysterio is the villain, he could impersonate Stan.

He was a veteran in Tony's party towards the beginning of the movie. Thor gives him some Asgardian alcohol and they drag him off later as he says "excelsior!..."

Please do post your thoughts on them. It is first time for them right.

Absolutely love that book.

Yes indeed.

I read TKJ tonight and that was definitely a cool, almost character study on The Joker. Funny how it goes from making you sympathetic towards him, only to hate him and then by the end of it you sort of go back to sympathy.

Kinda like you're meant to be questioning yourself throughout it. The art is great, and I loved the quote of madness being an emergency exit.

I got the hardcover version.

As far as Spider-Man: Blue goes, haven't read that yet but based off of the summary on the back and all the praise it's gotten, I'm really looking forward to it. I'll probably get around to it tomorrow. I only got the paperback version (only had a $50 Amazon gift card, lol), but that'll suit me fine anyway.

Absolutely love that book.

Great to know, since all the positive buzz around it urged me to pick it up (along with TKJ, to be fair).

I was set to get SSM on Blu-ray originally, along with TKJ but I went over the card's amount, so I opted for another comic I wanted. SSM will be the next thing I get when I get another gift card, though. :yay:

Not a fan of Alcohol, so 'eh'.

:highfive:
Check Sensational Spider-Man v2 if you haven't, Aguirre-Sacasa did a great job bringing back Liz to the book -briefly- and other things.

Blue is a title that has definitely earned it's 'positive buzz.' Like others have said, you're going to enjoy it.

Normally, I would be upset that someone passed over TSSM, but....I'm willing to let this one slide :cwink:

Thanks. Added to my queue.
