Pacific Rim

I figured they'd be about as tall as an average size building but it's like me basically taking control of something as big as the Sears Tower.

Which to me is overkill. I want them bigger than say the Transformers, but a robot that size to me seems just not possible physically. I know we're dealing with monsters here, but bigger isn't always better.

I was wondering if the kaiju were going to be bigger than all the mechs at first, and the military would have to gang up on the things in order to beat them.

Its funny cause the robots being that big can destroy the streets just by walking. I wonder if they'll try to take the fights as far from the city as possible to avoid civilian casualties, I mean the massive pressure of each blow will shake buildings all around imagine when one of them falls lol.

I'm waiting for the inevitable porn spoof, as the title already is ripe for it. They'll have to tack on a few more females though.

I was expecting them to look like the suits from the end of Matrix Revolutions, not giant robots, amazing! :woot:

This movie will be great but I have no doubt its going to disappoint at the box office. Cowboys and Aliens is what I see with Pacific Rim. Hope I am wrong.

That particular one reminds me of the Zeon mobile suits from Gundam. :wow:

I'm glad they went with a humanoid based robot. Like I said, I think the monsters are going to look CRAZY, and I think the humanoid robots will nail home humanity's fight against the Kaiju for the audience. The story will be based on an obselete Jaeger, so Im sure we will see some small variation in the design of the newer Jaegers. We know from the synopsis that as powerful as the Jaegers are, they are still getting wiped out by the Kaiju. That tells us just how frightening and destructive the Kaiju are if they can demolish a robot the size of a skyscraper.

Pfffffffft, no he doesn't. Any clear Gundam fan would instantly notice that the Jaeger on the poster CLEARLY looks like a GM (also from the Gundam series). :p

Except Cowboys and Aliens is dreadful, not great.

10 pages into the first draft of the script and I'm loving it so far. This is definitely not another Cowboys and Aliens.

A guy on another site emailed it to me today. It's legit, but it's the first draft so I don't know how much Del Toro changed. Hopefully very little.

I'd ask for it but I think I want to go into this movie blind. just tell me one thing... is there any indication to what the monsters look like in the descriptions, and if so...how awesome are they?

Not really, and the descriptions have been fairly vague so far. A big monster reveal hasn't happened yet where I am. There was this one that
seemed to have saliva that set things on fire when it dripped. That one was in a dream sequence that one of the characters was having, though.

The mental bond these Jaeger pilots share is really deep, and for good reason. I can only imagine how traumatizing it must be when that mental link is cut after a pilot dies during a battle. :csad:

If you want it, just ask. I'll most likely treat this the same way I did with the Django Unchained script and not read the full script. I want to be surprised as well.

Edit: A Kaiju just made its appearance, rising out of the ocean. Holy ****, this thing's description is pretty terrifying.

I'm up for a PM on that description! Any and all spoilers are welcome!

There you go. :cwink:

Also, the script mentions several IMAX scenes. Get ready for a visual fest of intensity.

I can dig it, but the robots do seem a little overly large to me.

I mean compare the size difference of the people on that robot's shoulder to people inside the Statue of Liberty....that robot is seriously gigantic.

Project looks really ambitious. Hope it pays off.

Glad that the mobile suits will be like actual mecha and not look like that Matrix trilogy garbage. I want toys.

I agree that the Jaegers, if the poster and previous interviews are accurate, are way too big. I prefer my mecha to be about 15-18 meters in height.

Well these are giant monsters. You need to fight them with giant robots. That poster doesn't really show us exactly how high they are either. Some Gundam are over over 20 meters anyway.
