Why do they need battle armor if they're pilots?

I would assume its to protect them from the beatdown the Mechs will be served.

Exactly, jacobed. These Jaegers go through beatings, and regular jumpers won't protect them from Kaiju attacks.

The EVA pilots wore armor and its for the reason jacobed said. When these machines (cyborgs in EVA's case) take damage the pilots inside will be thrashed around a bit. Armor would make sense.

No, they were already called Jaegers before Del Toro was aware of the script.

Plug suits were not armor, they were form fitting compression units.

I guess I can see this bulky armor providing some shock absorption.

I dunno, they should have gone the Eva route and had the pilots sync with the Jaegers.

Also "Jaegers" reminds me of "Wanzers". lol

I love the sense of history we're getting, seeing the old suit next to the new suit, you can tell right there that the worlds been going to hell for quite some time in the context of the film.

They seemingly have the same purpose seeing as the pilots will end up connecting with the Jaegers and their co pilots.

In Eva the pilots were sync'd with their Evas, higher sync ratios meant better controls but it also meant the pilots literally felt everything the Evas did.

As long as there is some sort of snycing going on then I'm cool.

I do like the helmets though.

The pilots in this movie share thoughts, memories, and emotions with each other but not the Jaegers. I'd say that's close enough, though. It also makes for some fantastic character moments.

Those suits are awesome, cant wait to see the kaiju and get a better look at the jaegers.hopefully we'll get a new look at the jaegers during comic-con or maybe the footage leaks muahhahahaha(if there's footage that is).

If there's one thing im worried about, its the cg. All the cg in Blade 2 although that was a long time ago and That big green monster in Hellboy 2 looked awful.
