The mechs are called Jaegers? Is that an original Del Toro idea?
The EVA pilots wore armor and its for the reason jacobed said. When these machines (cyborgs in EVA's case) take damage the pilots inside will be thrashed around a bit. Armor would make sense.
No, they were already called Jaegers before Del Toro was aware of the script.
Plug suits were not armor, they were form fitting compression units.
I guess I can see this bulky armor providing some shock absorption.
I dunno, they should have gone the Eva route and had the pilots sync with the Jaegers.
Also "Jaegers" reminds me of "Wanzers". lol
I like the name. It's German for "hunter" and I guess they are hunting in a way. lol
I'm really loving the feeling of authenticity I get when I look at these suits.
They seemingly have the same purpose seeing as the pilots will end up connecting with the Jaegers and their co pilots.Plug suits were not armor, they were form fitting compression units.

That's Guillermo for you. His attention to detail is awesome.
Really? I had no idea it meant hunter in German. That's interesting.
I don't know how they do it with EVA but the pilots do sync with the Jaegers, in a way. They also have to be in-sync with each other. You'll know what I mean eventually, if that aspect hasn't been changed.
In Eva the pilots were sync'd with their Evas, higher sync ratios meant better controls but it also meant the pilots literally felt everything the Evas did.
As long as there is some sort of snycing going on then I'm cool.
I do like the helmets though.
