Anyone know Japanese and can tell us the specs for this baby?

Japanese robot only requires 1 pilot, prob cause they're already used to giant robots and know how they operate :p

I love the designs. Simple and distinctive. Bay, take notes for TF4-6.

But most of all I love that sea kaiju. I fear the deep sea and this looks like a nightmare straight out of it.

Probably a dumb question, but whats the proper pronunciation of Jaeger?

I'm always pronouncing it as yay-ger instead of jay-ger.

The designs are pretty damn cool.
Love how the Russian robot looks like a cooling tower off a nuclear power plant ala Chernobyl lol
Ha! Now that youve pointed it out, I can definitely see how the head's modeled after a nucler reactor.

I'm pronouncing it like the jägermeister drink, that is: [jey-ger]

While I still don't like the way the Jaeger's are piloted, the designs are excellent, I know a good looking mech when I see one. The viral video of the Kaiju attack was also freaking awesome. NEED MOOOOOOOOOOOOARE!!!!

i love the designs. they look retro and oldschool . but i still think that similar designs wouldnt work with the transformers. because they were aliens their desing had to fit with their original alien body and how the mechanics worked. it also had to fit with their home world.

but i do agree that it was an insult to humanity that 99% of the robots in the TF franchise look similar. so durring fighting its hard to see who is who. its impossible to have silhouette's

Thanks bro. I totally agree with that. :cwink:

You think Del Toro will toss in a BPRD logo on a random military vehicle in the backdrop? You know, blink and you miss it.

Yeah, no doubt. I remember one of the pilot suits looking like Johann Straus' suit. Also no doubt there'll be a Cronos device sitting around the background somewhere.

Got a feeling this is going to dominate the box office for 2013. There's plenty of blockbusters to go around next year, but I think sequel fatigue will have to yield to a completely new and fresh franchise. Kids of *all* ages will eat this up....it's the next Transformers-esque juggernaut.

Yeah, that's exactly what I was thinking. I don't know if that's good for the Russian Jeager or not though lol.

It's cool seeing their designs, and all, but I can't wait to see footage on these things, it'll be awesome! :wow:

At first, I thought that big nuclear reactor-looking thing on the top was the head. But, if you look at the blueprint more closely, you can see the "head" (the pilot chamber) directly below the "reactor" on the chest area.

So, in actuality, that "reactor" is actually sort of a "hunch" or a "backpack" of some sort. If only someone could read Russian, we'd be able to figure out what that thing's purpose is. :oldrazz:

Watching the virals and looking at the Jaeger blueprints is killing me. I can hardly wait until we get to see some footage. Speaking of which, has this been posted? If so then I apologize.

Thanks Sgt. Pepper, we haven't seen that one yet.

Del Toro really isn't hiding the anime influence is he? :awesome:

This Striker Eureka model looks very similar to Eureka 7's Nirvash. No way it's a coincidence.

I eo believe that if the reception is great, Pacific Rim could not just open, but burst open the gate for anime properties to be adapted.

Mecha will become the new superhero movie. I think with anime adaptions it won't really be as tight because manga and anime span all kinds of genres. You could adapt a manga/anime and it could be in the realm of rom-com, action, comedy, etc.

I wonder if this is a major success that we can finally get a live action Gundam movie.

Well its sort of a Matrix/Neuromancer question, will we need the gundam movie? Gundam maybe, Evangellion, probably not.

And yes I realize they actually are making the Neuromancer movie, but its been a decade since the Matrix.

Well Hollywood is very monkey see monkey do. We see what WB is doing after the Avengers was successful.
