Yea... how the hell was Minority Report's ending "wishy washy". It was a great, ambiguous ending.

And Munich is one of the best films of the 00s.

May is gonna have one big budget moving coming out every week, I hope this can still succeed in that environment.

Well, it comes out a week after Iron Man 3, on May 3rd, and the next big film is Fast Six, which comes out on the 24th. (I refuse to acknowledge Emmerich's Singularity as a big blockbuster film). So, it will have a whole two weeks to itself to make its money.

I'm so psyched for this film. This will probably be the closest we ever get to a live-action mecha film. Unless, of course, this movie opens the doors to a bunch of mecha adaptations like Gundam and Evangelion, which would make me even more happy. :woot:

That would be cool if done right, but if done by American studios? Its gonna be so westernized you're gonna start crying.

It is weird how despite Transformers we haven't seen too many giant robot movie projects come out of Hollywood. I mean I know we've seen Real Steal and Robopocalypse is being made, but you think with the success Transformers which started in 2007 there would be a lot more.

Which big budget movies are releasing in May 2013? I don't think there are many that have been listed so far, especially not every week.

Yes there are...(assuming nothing is moved around but there's a good chance that'll happen)

May 3 - Iron Man 3
May 10 - Pacific Rim
May 17 - Singularity
May 24 - Fast Six
May 31 - Lone Ranger

As you can see potential blockbuster films week after week. IM3 and Fast Six are already built in franchises. Lone Ranger has Depp with Verbinski teaming up again. Only unknown is Singularity but its gonna be some futuristic sci-fi flick. Emmerich has said its gonna be more low key than his recent disaster pics but with summer release it could be marketed as a huge film.

YES! Thank you Spielberg, now I have a months less wait. Shane Black and GDT back to back weeks. I'm so in.

What do you think the mecha pilots will wear? Could we see them in traditional fighter pilot-type gear or perhaps something more anime inspired?

Pooping Vampires And Giant Robots: A Chat With Guillermo Del Toro

The Strain and Cronos represented your spin on the vampire legend. Similarly, your upcoming Frankenstein film and Pacific Rim are the del Toro take on The Monster and mecha, respectively. What's the appeal of reenvisioning classic horror and scifi tropes?

The reality is that it comes not from a goal, but from the fact that I'm fulfilling my bucket list as a kid.

Speaking of Pacific Rim, how's that going?

Very good, we're at the end of our second week. We are shooting everything for the main complex in the movie, which is a huge complex in Hong Kong where the robots are maintained. We are doing that, while building downtown Hong Kong streets.

This movie is going to be awesome! It kind of reminds me of Neon Genesis Evangelion.

Simon Lee HELL'S COURTESAN sculpt!
The incredible sculptor and concept artist, Simon Lee (also known as Spiderzero) started a new HYPERCREATURES series on his website! A series where he takes different artists creatures and re-imagines them through his amazing sculpts~ and I was thrilled and flattered to find out he chose the Courtesan from the "Hell's Courtesan" 2 part Marquis story as his first reimagination sculpt in the series!!

I had the great pleasure of working with him during the early concept days of Guillermo Del Toro's "Pacific Rim", and it was incredible to see the life and detail, not to mention the character and imagination he brings to all his sculpts and designs! Check out the link below to see more of his amazing Hell's Courtesan sculpture!

Simon Lee's Hypercreatures
Here's No.1 of Simon Lee's Hypercreatures series - a reimagination of the "Hell's Courtesan" character from Guy Davis' "The Marquis" comics.*

In Simon's words, "I met Guy Davis for the first time while working on Guillermo del Toro's Pacific Rim. And I quickly became a huge fan of Guy's work. In my opinion, he's probably one of the finest monster designers out there."

Pacific Rim Monster Roars Scare the World in New Viral Video?
B. Alan Orange said:
A new video has hit the Internet, and various sources, such as Movie Viral, are claiming that it is a viral video for the long awaited Godzilla reboot from director Gareth Edwards. The following footage is quite reminiscent of his previous film Monsters. Our own expert here at the site (yes, we have an expert on monster noises) believes that this is actually a viral video for Guillermo del Toro's currently shooting giant monster thriller Pacific Rim, which is more likely the case since its closer to release.

Either that, or its neither of the above (it should be noted that Pacific Rim and Godzilla are both coming from Legendary Pictures). Its too early for a Cloverfield 2 viral, and the creepy thing about this video is that these same noises were actually heard here in Alhambra, a suburb of Los Angeles, at the same time these noise were captures on film, last week. It certainly scared the dogs, but I didn't think too much of it, passing the roars off as loud machinery passing by outside my window.

The end of Kevin Smith's Red State should also be noted here, as the climax of that film finds the villainous church group being defeated by an old firehouse loud speaker hooked to an iPod. This could just be a video prophesizing the oncoming apocalypse. Whatever it is, you should check it out below. Then tell us what you think it might be. Godzilla? Giant Pacific Rim monsters? The rapture? Mass Effect 3 Reapers? Weather Weapons created by our Government? Did you hear these noises where you live?

Is anyone else hopeful that Pacific Rim will get a toyline? I am, the premise of giant monsters and giant robots to fight them always interests me. I would just love to get merchandise from the movie.

Provided the robots and monsters look great of course. :D

We don't know what type of robots the movie will have huh? Whether they'll be specialized super powered robots with special abilities, of if they'll be militaristic in nature?

If it's a PG-13 fest, then probably.

Definitely PG13, hoping to bring in that Transformers money.

It's definitely gonna be a PG-13 movie, but it's definitely not a bad thing.
