The Dark Knight Rises Paralleles between Nolanverse and Burtonverse

That's how delicate this stuff really is.

As a 1989 adult you couldn't see anything dramatically wrong with it.

I would agree with this. This was 1989, and Burton's film worked well for that generation , just as Bale's Batman works for the people of today.

Not for everyone, but it did perform very well. You can't help but respect its success and place in 'history' as far as the genre goes...even if it left a lot to be desired, film-wise.

Bruce is 30 in BB. TDK takes 6 months.......in TDKR it's 8 years.

So, bruce is during most of TDKR.

with that said, a 30 year old batman I think Nolan chose the wrong number to start his batman off. I really wish he had started him when he was 25 or so.

Because like the above poster says yes hes just starting off...but at 30!?

Well, keep in mind, he doesn't leave Gotham till his 20s.

Well...out of college in his early 20's...six or so years traveling the world and being 'a criminal', then another two or so years in the LOS...I think it's fine. I don't see what we've lost by not giving his first appearance as Bats another four years or so. And despite what some may feel about Holmes...Rachel probably needed that time to legitimately make it to her position, career-wise.

I openly admit, I haven't read all this, so if it's been covered don't shoot me... Burton Batman kills, plain and simple. The guy with the bomb in Returns, and I feel he killed the Joker too. There are probably more examples, but I haven't watched those movies in at least 5 years.

I agree. If..the time line is correct, he would of left gotham when he was 23. (by his comment you've been gone 7 years)

I really wonder if they'll go into more of his training he did, because lets be honest those 7 years goes by fast.

I just don't feel a 30 year old bruce is enough, any idea on how old burtons batman was?

(Btw just so everyone knows Bruce is 30 in BB and is proven during the scene where rachel comes and gives him his arrow head back, if you look in the back ground a big "30" in preparation for his birthday is up.

But in the comic book continuity Bruce was 25 when he debuted as Batman. In 'contemporary' timeline hes always 34

I did not know that. :), I guess it pays..to read!

Interesting..I mean I do think 30 is to young to be a father figure to Robin, to really help someone mature. So, from that start point in the comics it makes sense.

Was there ever a mention perhaps in the novel of 89 how old batman is.

I think in the early script he and Joker were much younger than the actual actors that portrayed them, but I cant remember that age really or if it really was there

25 when he debuted? Damn, I'm older than that

And youre from Jersey! If the south part, then we used to live in the same state (I call it Jerse-Delphia... where the men are men and the women have big 80's hair and hang out in front of WaWa.)

Hehe, no I leave in North 20 min from manhattan and I wasnt born in US actually

YOUR STILL A RED-BLOODED AMERICAN TO ME, GODDAMMIT! NONE OF US WHITE BOYS ARE NATIVE AMERICANS!!! </post911patriotismrage>

25 is too young, but 30 is too old? Perhaps he should've debuted as Batman at 28?

Two or so years ? It felt like 3-6 months the most to me. Especially with the prisoner (Ras wanted Bruce to execute) looking pretty much the same when Bruce first saw him.

I think most of those 7 years dealt with Bruce hanging out with criminals to see what makes them tick. And him rotting in prison with 'em. That's what I got from that film. I don't think Nolan and co. executed those 7 years well at all. But that's just me.

Maybe it was. He's a quick study. :D

Well...they had to get it out of the way somehow so....and again, I think Rachel needed to put in that much career time to be at her position.
