I've never felt more blessed to be a heavy sleeper after watching this movie.
That said, this movie was far too hyped up for its own good. While creepy when dwelled over overly much, especially if you believe in the supernatural, the movie was not the best horror movie I've ever seen; the original Halloween enjoys that position. However, it was definitely much better than most of what passes for horror these days. Gore is very well and all, but I find the psychological much more fascinating to watch. During some scenes, especially the light-switching, I was itching for them to move the **** on already, you've made your point, I'm quite creeped out now, thankyouverymuch.
I doubt if it would hold up well to a second viewing, now that the cat's out of the bag, so to speak. I had the same experience with The Ring's remake; was scared ****less on the first viewing, not so much on the second. I'm definitely seeing it again, though, this time with two or more people. Oh, the fun.
