Paranormal Activity

I've never felt more blessed to be a heavy sleeper after watching this movie.

That said, this movie was far too hyped up for its own good. While creepy when dwelled over overly much, especially if you believe in the supernatural, the movie was not the best horror movie I've ever seen; the original Halloween enjoys that position. However, it was definitely much better than most of what passes for horror these days. Gore is very well and all, but I find the psychological much more fascinating to watch. During some scenes, especially the light-switching, I was itching for them to move the **** on already, you've made your point, I'm quite creeped out now, thankyouverymuch.

I doubt if it would hold up well to a second viewing, now that the cat's out of the bag, so to speak. I had the same experience with The Ring's remake; was scared ****less on the first viewing, not so much on the second. I'm definitely seeing it again, though, this time with two or more people. Oh, the fun.

When Katie refused to leave I thought she was possessed by the demon ? Especially since it was her idea to leave

I thought it was good. The night scenes were done very well and were kinda cool. [blackout]Especially the part where the demon dragged Katie out of the bed and drags her down the hall.[/blackout] That was pretty cool. All the scenes during the day dragged a bit but I thought it provided a lot of information to keep my attention. I didn't find the movie scary but it was creepy. I haven't been scared by a horror movie since Exorcist and that still stands. But I thought this was a nice little movie. I hope it beats Saw.

7/10

Son, I must be havin' a religious experience, because you be speakin' the gospel! :woot:

Haha, thanks. Seriously, I don't see what's so hard to get. This film was a huge success, critically and financially. It's now opened the doors for the director to a bigger career. Studios couldn't care less what people on forums think. It scared the **** out of the GA and made more than 3 thousand times its budget.

it was ok, not that scary, and very boring at times. there were a few scenes that were great, and did creep me out, but overall, it was eh
5/10

If your a atheist you wont be scared from this film. I wasn't scared.

After watching the clip of the original ending I thought it would have been a cool ending if [BLACKOUT]Katie had come up the stairs and sat rocking by the bed after killing Mica like in the original ending, but then when the friend comes over to check on them and starts screaming, have Katie give an evil smile and get up and go to the door with the knife drawn and start calling for the friend to come upstairs. Then have the movie end just as you here the friends footsteps coming up the stairs.[/BLACKOUT]

This movie is pretty underwhelming. It basically consists of doors opening and closing while a chubby chick freaks out/sleeps. I’m only impressed that a movie with this low of a budget can make so much money. Maybe with all of the profit they can add a demonic Stan Winston studio monster at the end to make it worth buying on Blu-ray.

We get it, you love special effects and super models. I suggest Cloverfield.

So what the hell is the consensus here? Good or Bad? Or mediocre? Or are we having just another Blair Witch here? One that is so massively hyped it winds up not being anything it was hyped to be.

And that's what it is. Initially this movie is not all that scary, just slightly unsettling, but the more you dwell on it, the more you think on it, the scarier it becomes and in that regard I think it succeeds in what it sets out to do.

People in my school are talking about this alot. The same thing happened with Taken and that didn't prove to be very good.

I'll rent it on DVD.

Paramount and Dreamworks are drinking champagne straight from the pool this weekend.

Really? Then I guess inside of you believe in supernatural being. You do know that Paranormal Activity has a religious theme to it.

So what? Its fiction from the get-go, a belief that what happens in the film is possible in real life has nothing to do with the sense of dread, tension, and fear it might create while viewing

That's....beyond backwards. The [blackout]ceiling lamp[/blackout] had absolutely no purpose but to f**k with the couple. The [blackout]dragging[/blackout] incident was the first time there was actual personal contact.

How could you possibly see the latter as funny, especially in comparison to the former?

Because the part with [BLACKOUT]the noise and the ceiling lamp[/BLACKOUT] was the first big thing they caught on camera, and It made a cool, creepy noise and a loud *thump!*. It got me excited. And it seemed way more realistic than [BLACKOUT]her getting dragged out of bed[/BLACKOUT].

When [BLACKOUT]she got dragged out of the bed[/BLACKOUT], I wasn't laughing my ass off, it was more of a "wtf is this" laugh. It just wasn't scary. I just had alot of "wtf is this" moments, and less, if not any "omg im scared" moments throughout this movie.

There are cool parts though, like [BLACKOUT]when they see the broken picture frame, and Katie says something like, "I can feel it breathing" and she wasn't moving, and then her hair moved, from the breath of the demon.

To be honest, I have to agree to some....degree. After the [BLACKOUT]demon implication[/BLACKOUT], the film didn't really scare me in the slightest bit.

i bet the guys that sold the rights to this for 300,000$ want to shoot themselves in the face right about now lol...
