Parts I and II (Spoiler Thread)

These first two episodes might have been the biggest shift betweenhighs and lows in my Star Wars fandom. I'm going to be spending the next 4 episodes begging the former security guard to be okay. :fst:

One thing this show has definitely done, is make me want to see Luke and Leia hang out properly. I need her to be bossy big sis to Luke the way she was with Obi-Wan here. I just fear now that is only possible through the art of Deepfake, which seems criminal considering we just saw what a new actor can do in such a role. Lil Leia really is everything.

Seeing Little Leia makes sense considering how she called for Obi-Wan in A New Hope. I think only Obi-Wan Kenobi series will explore Alderaan.

It begs the question, why she didn't ask Ben, the guy who saved her, as opposed to Obi-Wan Kenobi, the guy who served her father in TCW. Between Lil Leia and the upcoming Vader fight, they have decided to mess with the original flick hard. We are totally going to meet the trash compactor monster. :hehe:

The Grand Inquisitor was a Jedi Temple Guard. :hehe:
Oh that's what you meant. I thought you meant you were begging someone at Lucasfilm that used to be a security guard to make sure the next 4 episodes are good.

Speaking of him, they really seem to have a hard time adapting animated characters to live action. Ahsoka doesn't feel much like the same character that we know in her recent live action appearances and now neither does the Grand Inquisitor. While I generally really like Friend as an actor, I can't help but feel he has been miscast.

They should have just shelled out the money for Isaacs to make the transition to live action. Since the only animated character who has felt right was Bo-Katan and she had the benefit of the same actor... Maybe Isaacs would have fixed the GI, poor writing aside. Goodness knows he did a great job hamming it up playing the GI archetype in The Patriot.

While I'm not the biggest fan of Dawson's Ahsoka, that at least has some time pass. She's at a different point in her life. There really is no reason for the GI to be any different here. But again, it doesn't feel like anyone involved here is aware of these characters' existence.

And The Patriot. God, that takes me back. :hehe:

Compromise is little kid Leia playing adult Leia opposite horrifying monster Luke.

Ewan has said before that he tried to emulate Alec's Ben as the character aged so he's probably doing it deliberately in the show.

We dont deserve Ewan.
I earned him seeing each prequel in the theater multiple times. Oh, and Moulin Rouge. :o

This whole episode was pretty emotional. I loved it.

It's basically the same character. When we had the underwhelming scene of the inquisitors trying to intimidate the populace of Tatooine to give up any local Jedi, it reminded me a lot of very similar scenes of Isaacs doing the same in The Patriot trying to find American rebels. And well doing it so
much better! :funny:

It's amazing, a week since Kennedy made the awful statement that they can't recast the characters and will use CG monstrosities instead, they prove themselves wrong. I'm willing to bet Leia here goes over very well and I hope to hell and back it makes them reconsider using those terrifying CG creations.

I totally see it. And the Patriot was my first exposure to Issacs, who was by far my favorite part of that movie. Which is saying something, because I do love it. I've always been drawn to early American history, and Mel's crazy stare going against Issacs' British arrogance. Perfection.

:hehe:

Even going through my bitter phase with the prequels, I watched them a ton. It was very love and hate. Now, it's just love.
And just as he was then, he is by far the best damned thing about this show. The unevenness and sloppy continuity reminds me a ton of the prequels....maybe they are deliberately trying to copy that feel? :funny:

In a few years, we will get her following her dad to the capital. She'll sit in Padme's pod. I'll cry.
