Ant-Man Paul Rudd is Ant-Man

Don't know a whole lot about Ant-Man to know if this is the right choice for the part. I trust Marvel knows what they're doing.

Edgar and Joe's original plans was for a prologue of Pym as Ant-Man before flashing forward to Scott Lang stealing the gear and becoming the current Ant-man (i.e to steal an ant-man). At some point in the movie they cross paths and team up. The film is supposed to end with Pym passing the Ant-Man mantle onto Lang.

If those are still Edgar's plans then Rudd could be either Pym or Lang.
Someone suggested Anna Kendrick to play the Wasp, and I am thinking. Ant-Man and Wasp are a couple right? The age gap would be redonk.
Anna Kendrick used to date Edgar Wright.

I prefer someone like Brie Larson or Mary Elizabeth Winstead myself. I think they would have great chemistry with Rudd and have both worked with Edgar as well.

Consider yourself up to speed :cwink:

I reply to people's posts all the time, so you are talking complete bs. I may not see everyone's posts all the time as it doesn't always show up that someone has posted, but I reply as often as possible.

BS? Clearly this is the part where your very selective memory comes into play. Anyway, I'm dropping this.

Yeah, I definitely don't want to see Janet become Scott Lang's love interest, especially if the purpose was just to dodge the most iconic dysfunctional relationship in Marvel Comics.

Instead, I'd hope that Lang would get someone like Dr. Erica Sondheim as a love interest --- someone who makes sense to *his* story instead of Hank's.

Who would play Dr Erica Sondheim?

It's funny how some people still doubt the power that fan casting has on executives/directors/producers. They are absolutely always watching forums like this and the bevy of other blogs/sites that report on films like this.

Never shy away from suggesting an actor.

In Game of Thrones, a Fan actually reached out to a actress agent, because he felt she would be perfect for the role. The agent read up on the role/physical qualities and passed it onto his client saying it was something she should look into. She auditioned and She got the part.

Which actress/ part was that?

If the story is going to mostly center around Scott Lang then maybe Rudd could be Lang.

I see Rudd more as Pym because Pym is an academic type who when he isn't a superhero he a college professor/research scientist. Rudd has played teachers pretty well in stuff like Admission and The Perks Of Being A Wallflower.

I have a hard time picturing Rudd as Lang who is burglar ex-con who shanked so guy in prison. Lang although a wisecracker and devoted to his daughter has a bit of a rough edge that I'm not sure Rudd has.

All of this is slightly irrelevant though as how they are portrayed in the movie could be wildly different to how they are in the comics :oldrazz:

Brienne of Tarth

Well it appears she already knew about the part, sorry guys.

Fansite Winteriscoming.net earmarked London-based actor Gwendoline Christie in a shortlist of actors who could play the role of warrior maiden Brienne of Tarth months ahead of auditions actually taking place. One particular enthusiast emailed her agent to alert him to the part.

“Because of the stuff I’d seen online I’d already talked to my agent about it,” Christie reveals. “But he did say to me: ‘Someone’s emailed me about this – what’s going on?’

“I suppose that’s the power of the books – people feel so passionately. I thought that was lovely.”

They could go the EMH route where Pym is much more of a scientist and a pacifist who only gets into superheroics very reluctantly and isn't completely comfortable with the violence.

Rudd is a good choice, seems like a top bloke n all.

I'm very happy with this choice. My interest in the solo film and any future appearance in an Avengers film just shot up.

Winstead would be my top choice. Rudd can easily develop chemistry with any decent actress. I want a wasp who will be around for a while, with or without pym.

that's just it. it's hard to imagine Scott Lang as an ex-con who shanked someone in prison. he's an affable guy, a movie geek, and extremely loyal to his friends. he helped Wonder Man get a job after only knowing him for 5 minutes. he tried to talk Bruce Banner out of secluding/imprisoning himself when he was trapped in the Hulk's form. he's currently playing father figure to the Future Foundation kids.

I think the point is that Scott took a wrong unexpected turn along the way. he was a good person who was steered into making some desperate choices. but he can be just as snarky as Rudd's characters from 40-year old virgin or that movie where he was forced to mentor a kid. if you read Fraction's FF, he has that same kind of humor. Scott, in the books, has that "My Idiot Brother" man-childishness about him. twice he was caught playing video games on the job at Stark Industries. he did pay a ferris wheel operator to keep Cassie occupied while he fought the Taskmaster. he was constantly leaning on his sister or babysitters. it's just that he's never had a solo series. so only a geek like me keeps track of that stuff.

Very happy with Rudd :) now I want to know whether it's going to be Pym or Lang.

That scene of him kicking Abomination out of a building is pure gold.
I don't understand how some people can think his powers are boring.

they should be significantly more interesting in live-action than on the page. it's hard to draw someone changing size and making it look cool.
