Ant-Man Paul Rudd is Ant-Man

Winstead would be fantastic as Janet, but I think Marvel is going to go after an actress who has worked with Rudd before.

I don't see why they have to do that. If they have auditions, then they can see which actress will have chemistry with Rudd. I would rather see a fresh pairing than the same old couple.

I love Rashida Jones for Wasp personally, but if Jones isn't Jan, I hope Marvel takes the opportunity to find an actress of color to play her, as I've stated over and over again.

MEW would be all right, though she seems pretty young if she were to be paired with Rudd. Though Rudd's not aging like a normal human being (thanks, Jon Stewart!)

I don't. I've adored the Jackie Kennedy feel and look of her since I was young, and want to see that look in the movies. I want her to look like a rich socialite straight out of the swinging sixties.

If they ever make a pseudo sequel to "This is the End" I want Rudd to say to Seth Rogen "My superhero movie is better than your superhero movie."

An actress of color won't ever be in the MCU unless she is cast to play a robot or an alien.

Only one actress of color in the MCU so far and she's playing an alien.

If it's a Jackie Kennedy type, that's Anne Hathaway . Maybe an imperfect choice , but Paul Rudds not my perfect Hank Pym.

I hope Rudd is well served by what ever the script and tone of the film are. I'd like something in line with Iron Man1 or A1.

All of a sudden this is the "Marvel Movie with Paul Rudd" in it instead of "Marvel Superhero movie about a guy in an Ant costume."

Kind of like the first Iron Man was "that superhero movie with the former drug addict in the lead?" :o

I can imagine that actually. That would be so priceless to see. :hehe:

Edgar Wright compared Ant-Man to the first Iron Man film. They ad-libed often in Iron Man and Rudd ad-libs sometimes as well.

Feige said Rudd is one of the most enthusiastic actors they have ever had about their movies.

So we still don't know if Rudd is Pym or Lang? Why won't Edgar Wright just tell us straight instead of this smoke-and-mirror?

I believe it. Rudd was seen hanging out with the Avengers cast backstage at the Oscars last March, and was rumored to have watched some shoots on CATWS this past summer, so it sounds like he was already getting hyped about it long before they even started casting him.

If it's still the Pym/Lang mentor/padawan story we've heard about from the very beginning (and Feige has strongly hinted that it still is), then it's understandable that Marvel/Wright/Rudd won't say specifically which role is which until the other guy is also cast.

That may be a bit of an understatement. Rudd is a regular Judd Apatow player and from all accounts they do a lot of ad-lib/improvisation.

Why? it really shouldn't matter. Just cast someone that will be good in the role. I don't particularly like Rashida Jones though, she's wallpaper, I barely notice her in anything she is in and rarely adds to the movie or television show. Her casting wouldn't bother me, but it wouldn't excite me either as it would be a rather middle of the road selection.

If Pym is the mentor, and Rudd plays Lang, then we can probably forget about Janet Pym as Wasp since she'd have to be much older, and thus unsuitable to be a superheroine. I really don't like this rumor about mentor/padawan, to be frank, and I hope it won't become a reality.

Maybe James Spader will do double duty as Henry Pym, which is why Ultron will probably look like him. I hope Rudd is Pym though, as I don't want Wasp eliminated from the MCU just because Pym is too old, or Jan given to Lang as his romantic partner.

Even if Pym turns out to be an older guy (if the 1960s angle holds up, he'd almost necessarily be in his 60s himself, barring any weird superhero mumbojumbo like the Pym Particles slowing aging, or having Pym trapped in the Microverse or something), Janet doesn't *have* to be an old woman herself. It wouldn't be that "ewww....creepy" to have a May-December romance/marriage with a much younger Jan.

But I like Dark Raven's idea that Spader might, in fact, *be* Pym after all, and Ultron is made in his image. I don't think it's a high probability, since Joss is very dismissive of Hank having *any* sort of role in AOU; but I definitely like the angle.
