Pedro Pascal is Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic

I am in the waiting for something official camp, so I haven't written Krasinski off yet. But if it aint him, yeah the MoM cameo was a giant waste of time. Either have that be a different character entirely or could have just used Ioan Gruffud, even if I was meh to his version of the character. Using a totally new actor for the role only made sense if it was serving as an introduction for the audience. Having that no be the case is head scratching if it plays out that way.

But as I said, let's all wait for an official word

We’ve heard credible rumors that it IS Krasinski over the past couple weeks. I think it’s as likely, if not more, that it’s Krasinski rather than Driver.

I hope so. If it's not Krasinski, I will get behind whoever is cast as Richards. But man, the MoM cameo, as fun as it was, just seems like a cameo that might have been better for someone such as Ioan Gruffudd or Daniel Craig (who was apparently asked to do it first).

Some may disagree with me (and that's totally cool) but John Krasinski as Reed Richards seems as almost perfect of a casting choice as Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne, Robert Downey Jr as Tony Stark, Chris Evans as Steve Rogers and Paul Rudd as Scott Lang. It just works.

Adam Driver as Reed Richards? Sure, I would accept it. He is a very talented actor with a lot of range, plus he has a couple of Oscar nominations under his belt. Not too shabby at all. However, it's a choice that just doesn't hype me up.

normally I'd agree that the more controversial the casting is (among fans) the more I think they might be onto something, as most of the examples listed above were certainly meet with controversy when first rumored (as much as fans want to deny that they ever questioned it, or even take credit for the idea(s), after the fact lol)

but in this case, I'm with the, naysayers, on this one... I just don't see it

Campea makes a good argument- i could totally believe Adam coming off as the smartest man in the room- but that also makes an equally strong argument for him as Doom too Lol

Sounds like Adam Driver is more of the likely choice for Reed Richards. Jeff Sneider apparently heard a deal has been offered to Driver.

Stepping back a bit from the rumors and thinking broadly about what we’ve heard and applying common sense:

When Krasinski appeared in MOM, he won fans and the studio over. People generally liked him in the role and hoped and expected he would be Reed.

But in the coming weeks and months, we heard that he hadn’t been signed - which was frustrating and disappointing to a lot of fans.

But now that we see it seems they didn’t intend to cast until Spring of 2023, and as much as people might have liked Krasinski, they wouldn’t want to cast him in an ensemble role before they had a script and other actors for other roles to be considered etc.

Now it seems they’ve finally gotten serious and started bringing people in. Based on rumors, it seems like both Krasinski and Driver (and likely others) were brought in and given serious consideration.

If Krasinski is interested in the role (and none of us know that for sure but he has expressed an interest), I think he has a big advantage because of the way fans have accepted him in the role.

Then the big question becomes “does he fit/mesh with the other actors being considered?” Everything I know indicates Krasinski works well with others, so I don’t see a big barrier there.

So I think Krasinski has an advantage over other candidates and it’s likely his if he wants it.

… and the only reason we had any doubt about that seemingly likely outcome is because it became obvious in the months after MOM that he wasn’t signed when we thought he should have been.

All of the above is speculation and not based on anything certain, but if someone offered me 50:50 odds, I’d probably put $100 on Krasinski getting the job.

I think the job is Krasinski's to lose. And I'm totally fine with that, I know not everyone loves him for Reed but I think he'd do the role plenty of justice given the right material.

Marvel would be shooting them selves in the foot if it isn’t Krasinski. But what do i know

I wouldn't mind him making more cameos in the "Council of Reed's"

but, I never expected him to become the main MCU Reed based on his MoM appearance

Adam Driver just feels like Miles Teller 2.0

Great actor but a complete miscast.

if Blackbolt never appeared in a previous iteration, it would be unfair to judge Anson Mount off of his short cameo.

Anson was amazing in Hell on Wheels. He was wasted on a non speaking role.

He did a fine job with what they gave him, I saw him coming back into the role easily.

I wasn't basing my statement on his preference in the role ( I got nothing against him as an actor/ or a person for that matter) I was just being realistic about it...

I saw this being in the same light as the Damon as Loki gag in the Thor movies

the role probably should have been filled by one of the previous actors (Ioan/ Miles/...) as it was just suppose to be a reference (like all the other characters we saw) or pulled some Shazam style "headless Superman" joke, where we only see him from behind and never actually see his face lol... but they decided to go "Meta" with it using a "Fan-cast" reference, instead

if anything they had him play it up too seriously... and should have just let him go all ham on the role

it's true, I was never really in the, Krasinski camp, an a lot of those fans did him more of a disservice then anything else with their overly aggressive "KRASINSKI OR BUST" mentality... which kinda alienated some people against the idea...

but, I was never fully against him in the role (if it happened, it happened) I would have been okay with it... but when it started to become clear that it wasn't happening and the fans persisted, it just got tiring after awhile

bottom line that was a different movie with a different creative team/director/... it makes sense that a new team would want to give their own spin on the character (casting someone who fits they vision of the character, not have to write the character with a set actor already in the role)

At this point the role is Driver's to take or leave. If Krasinski was in still in consideration you would here his name alongside Adam's; like with Sue Storms potential actresses. So far any recent news about the casting only lists the former and there nary a word about John? That alone tells you AD is the frontrunner. Even before the news about Adam being in final talks JK wasn't a lock because there was a myriad of other candidates in the mills like Penn Badgley and Diego Luna.

Adam is a more accomplished thespian and a bigger box office name thanks to Star Wars. That is another reason a new director, wanting to put his own stamp on his movie, would want him over the previous actor who played it before.

Anson Mount should've been cast as Reed. He's much more like classic Reed than he is like Blackbolt.

It feels like the majority of them are wrong a lot more often than they are right.

When I was a kid, there used be “psychics” who would brag about predictions they made that had cone true… but they’d ignore all the thousands of predictions they made that weren’t even close.

Also like psychics these internet rumor mongers are careful with their wording: “I said X was being considered, I didn’t say he had the job.”

The closer we get, the more annoying this nonsense gets.

Maybe all the tarot card readers have graduated to becoming Twitter scoopers making up **** every few days and trying to make bank on the few that turn out right just on basic probabilities.

The only employees Elon won't fire, lol.

AD would be a major meh casting to me. If it is him, I say it's mainly due to marriage story.

Honestly I would be confused if they hired him in the first place for that role, only not to play the part in Marvel Studios' 4. At least with Sir Patrick Stewart, we could use the variant/multiverse eXcuse or that it was a homage to the previous movies. Same with the Black Bolt from the ABC show.

Also, I don't want Adam Driver as Reed. He doesn't look the part at all.
