Penny Dreadful

Tells you everything about the rest of the characters doesn't it? :woot:

Oh the more i see gifs from Penny Dreadful, the more and more I love Eva. She's my Goddess of the Darkness itself... :hrt:

And it seems that we won't see Caliban again. And once again he proved to be a better man. I was actually rooting for him to kill the girl, especially after what she said to him, but he still didn't.

It's going to be sad to not see him again but his send off is quite fitting. Kinnear did a fantastic job with his role.

She brought that fate entirely upon herself.

Good point. Still, I'm fine with this. b**ch deserved it.

I still can't believe how awful she turned out to be. But yeah... she had it coming. :D

I think Vanessa laying the smackdown on her enemies is my favorite Vanessa.

I really wish now for Eva to be in more period pieces for film, like Kingdom of Heaven...one of my favorites. :)

Given the themes of duality and monsters within Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde would be the obvious choice for season 3.

Ethan is basically Dr. Jekyll. It would be a bit repetitive imo, but you never know.

Yeah, I agree. Basically, you'd have combination of Ethan and Caliban.

It was unexpected.

And I agree. Though it was Amunet who owned Satan in the end. Hard love I guess. :woot:

Kinda bummed Ethan and Brona/Lilly never came face to face.

Gives us something to look forward to next season. :yay:

Vanessa is Amunet. Much like how Christ is The Word (God) made flesh, Vanessa is the living/human incarnation of Amunet.

Loved seeing Sir Malcolm taking out that witch like a boss.

It's not exactly accurate but I saw this over at Tumblr and it made me laugh. :funny:

Like Batman, Vanessa also walks the edge of the abyss; and although she's already crossed a line and taken a life, she hasn't fallen in yet.

Is Kinnear finished? Would be a shame, Caliban was on a whole other level this season, he's gone from one of the worst to best characters for me personally this season.

I am hoping he'll be back for season 3...I don't see why he can't return nor have we seen the last of Caliban. I thought his scenes with Eva were well done in a way...which makes me wonder if Vanessa will draw the connection between him and Victor...

I don't think any of the main cast are gone for good. I'll take a stab and assume that Dracula's arrival in London will be the event that draws the family together again.

Of course the boys will come back to protect Vanessa. We all would come running.

Well, technically, Caliban and Ethan are the only ones they need to give a reason to come back to. Lyle and Viktor are still around and Malcolm will come back once he's done with his business in Africa. Ethan will surely come back if it involves Vanessa but Caliban will be harder since he's not technically part of the gang.

I still can't believe Ethan left Vanessa. That's so unrealistic! :oldrazz: Who the heck would refuse Eva Green?! :argh:

What are the chances Ethan actually makes it to the US? If he goes man wolf, chances are, he can break out of the cage.

And I am right there with you on not buying leaving Eva Green. Not after that speech. Oh, this big house, just the two of us, and we are completely in love. Yep, I am totally turning myself in to be executed. :o

Not to mention that Vanessa was just asking for ONE NIGHT and Ethan's all like "I need to think". WTF DUDE. No man or woman on their right mind says no to Eva Green. Serves him right that they cut off his luscious locks. :o

Gay men, straight women and aliens all think that was the most unbelievable BS they have ever seen.

Even to this day since she became my fave actress, there is no hells way I could turn Eva Green down...like if she wanted me to stay, I would have stayed with her. lol. I mean Ethan shouldn't have turned her down when he did...Eva is a goddess...and I enjoy watching her do crazy stuff in her movies and on this show. :hrt:

Yeah, she is, a reincarnation of Amunet. Still, even if its her true inner nature, I am of mind that she is not entirely Amunet, for either of two reasons:

1. It is more of a case that Amunet is living inside her human, mortal self, than that she is Amunet entirely.

Or:

2. As Amunet has lived a life as a mortal, unaware of her true nature for so long, due to her experiences as human being, she is as much of a mortal "Vanessa" as a goddess Amunet. It could be that Amunet started to manifest as early as in "Vanessa's" childhood, but given that her human part (or possibly both of them) wasn't aware of that, she has lived equally as both entities.

And it has been shown that Vanessa (or "Vanessa", if you prefer) takes the backseat whenever Amunet emerges, so that is what I was mostly referring to.

And even with Christ there are different views on his nature:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monophysitism

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dyophysite

I guess the latter would be fitting example for what I believe is the case when it comes to Vanessa. A dual nature coexisting - human and divine.

Yes, but, regardless of what you've just shared -- some of which I agree with -- it isn't erroneous to regard Vanessa and Amunet as one and the same. When I mentioned Christ, I was specifically referring to one popular interpretation of the Trinity (I know there are many). Like Vanessa, prior to his ascension, Christ was very much a human being. While having obvious differences from God the Father, traditional Catholics perceive him as being not only divine but somehow the same in a way the human mind cannot understand.

It's important to note that Vanessa is not possessed (reincarnation is something altogether different). If anything, the finale shows that Vanessa embraced her inner self; and that's how she was able to triumph over the Devil.
